But instead of the normal 24-60 frames per second, this camera shoots 300 fps. This means that when he slows down the playback speed in let's say After Effects the slow motion will be more "Smooth".

Very nice but to be honest i think this day i am not impresses with those hd camera i see a lot things shot on the red and the canon 5d and when is posted online something you can't tell the different... to see the best of the epic you have to see it on the big screan .again very cool and good luck ....

5k resolution movie mode (12 megapixels)

16bit video compared to 8bit on the d5100

15000Megabit uncompressed RAW video compared to 20Megabit compressed on the d5100

18 Stops of dynamic range.

No jello

The point is, it's WAY more edittable than your stupid 5100.

Unless you're using the D5100 for webvideos, the red epic is superior in every damn single way.

Red is intented for CINEMA movies.

D5100 is intented for YOUTUBE and HOME MOVIES. Yes, it looks good. But the codec it uses is horrible and compressed, unlike the Red RAW codec. It doesn't hold up in color grading at all. I own a Nikon D3s myself, so i know what i'm talking about.

@Deathrape2001 You have no knowledge of film or cinematography. the D5100 is a consumer camera and the Epic is a professional grade camera. I don't know where you're getting this idea that the D5100 is even CLOSE to an Arri Alexa, the Arri Alexa has a 35mm size sensor with 15 stops of dynamic range while the D5100 has 9. I own a D7000 so I'm not trashing Nikons but you clearly have a gap in cinematic knowledge. Plus 5k vs. 1080p.
