  • Seeing these cutscenes almost makes me want to re-install the game again.

  • @MD2389 And playing it with D2X-XL. ;-)

    Oh the memories! LOL

  • @TigerRaptorFX That's about as likely, as me being an active poster on dbb.net or .com again. :P

  • @MD2389 You're not missing much. The DescentBB com is ghost town and the .net isn't far behind.

  • My dad may not be the gaming type, but even he loved this one back in the day and was a total pro. I remember me and my brothers would always be looking over his shoulder as he played through the game, cheering him on and whatnot. Once this cutscene was over, all four of us were eagerly awaiting Descent 3.

  • Damn I loved the ending to this game!

  • in my opionion D3 lacked a lot of the speed and action of the first two prequels. okay it looked a little nicer, but thats nothing compared to the fun i had playing the first two games.

after i played D3 for half an hour i was bored and launched D2 again ;)

  • that asshole Dravus (or whatever his name was) kinda sounded like John Cleese to me!

  • I always found the last comment about the base amusing. "Maintaining speed and heading just like a starship". Really??? - cause things in space don't maintain speed and heading unless acted on by a force (gravity for instance). So of COURSE this planet (with no star) is maintaining speed and heading. C'mon vertigo one, you should know this!!!

  • @db3dbms I would think that the three enormous engines on the back of the planetoid would've been more of a clue for him.

  • i was watching the descent film endings because im doing it in my film studys and cliced on the lol

  • I actually fantacised myself being the pilot of that spacecraft when I used to play the game, and I was proud of being able to go on a mission in it...I was into it that much! I even still believe that some day a spacecraft like that will be created.

  • @TigerRaptorFX I think he means that in D2, he never made it home, because "Had he [made it home in D2, Volition/Interplay] would not have been able to release further games in the franchise."

  • crapacaster90:

No, "Material Defender" never made it home. Had he done so the software company would not have been able to release further games in the franchise.

  • does that poor bastard ever make it home??

  • @crapacaster90 He made it home in Descent 3. I the have the Descent 3 video clips uploaded on YouTube.

  • I have yet to beat this game nor the first one. And they are still my favorite FPSs to date

  • <--waxed the floor with virtually everyone on Cases ladder and the IDL (Invitational Descent Ladder)

    Nyuk nyuk.

  • I remember, sitting on my ass in front of windows 95 hours on end, while others played outside.

    Totally worth it, wasn't it?

    It was.

  • where are the fuckin crawlers???

  • Hey was this game made by Westwood?

  • @triplepogi2009 Developed by Parallax Studios, which later became Volition, and then still later died. Published by Interplay, which later died, and is now a zombie.

  • I miss this game. Used to play it with a thrustmaster joystick on a computer that ran at 50mhz. MS-DOS made me look like a prodigy back then.

  • I was able to play 2 when it came out but then long story short didn't get to play 3 and never knew what happened next until some years or so later when they released it as a budget title and I realised I could play it. Perhaps yet to catch on to yt and wiki for information you'd not find in guides. Being left on that cliffhanger was terrible!

  • I first played Descent 2 in 2001.. or 2002. when I saw this ending cinematic I went out and bought Descent 3 like the next day, lol.

  • is this the console version or Pc

  • @Superdeath25 I would say it is the PC version, because the video is exactly like the one of my good old DOS variant of Descent 2. Descent's PC version has no videos, but Descent 2 has. I remember some trick to convert the raw video files to an single executable. I guess this way you can also record them.

  • "we recommend you evacute immediately."

"idiot, what does he think i'm doing."

i don't know why, but i've always thought thats hilarious

  • i played descent 1 back when dialup was the only internet option...awesome game!

  • Wow, I used to love this game :P

    I want Descent 4 :(

  • I never finished Descent 2, my dad owned it and he finished it. So I've always wondered, was it ever explained why that planetoid had giant engines in it?

  • @halfdude I played through all 3 of them and never saw an explanation. Actually wondered about that myself.

  • Kid Now lets BLOW THIS THING AND GO HOME!!!

  • d2 is still being played on kali.net the decent channel

  • LOL People are searching for that lame movie here :) Descent series were the best games ever released.

  • I was... 10 Years old whe nI played the first game.. Hell is it been that long? ... I've never played the second one. 1st one was an awsome game, though I dont like playing it on these new XP and 7 shitters. For me Descent 1 is meant to be played on windows 95 or NT. Hehe. The 3rd one was.. Ok. Ok, it was awsome.. But hard as shit. THe levels took forever always, but the end was so satisfying. For the Material Defender!

  • Descent2 will undoubtedly be the greatest shooter game ever created.

  • Great series, played through Descent 1 and 2.. I still remember the Descent 1 cheat code.. :P Played through some of Descent 3....haven't seen the ending.

  • While I enjoyed the third game, re-watching this solidifies my opinion that the shift to make Dravis controlling the robot virus was inconsistent with the previous game. The voice actor in this scene is good enough that you know Dravis had intents to screw the Material Defender, but NOT with a damaged warp core.

  • i was playing this just today

  • i wonder if he ever masturbated while flying in that ship. i know i would have at least twice. it's a long game and i'd be going insane sans jackin' it.

  • ha ha ha me two that would be torture

  • This is Descent 2 the game. The very game released back in 1996 while you will still in diapers. The same game highly played both in singleplayer and multiplayer. While you were jumping up, and down in front of the TV watching Teletubbies. The very same game still played today. While you just made a complete ass out of yourself.

Oh, and first Descent game was in the making before you were born.

  • @ClythiaMystica Thanks for stopping by to tell me something this pointless. Since you have time to spare.

  • @ClythiaMystica Then why are you here. get the fuck out, fag

  • @zgrillo2004 FUCK YOU MOTHER FUCKER! u think i give a FLYING FUCKING SHIT about this video when i made that comment 5 months ago?? DIE IN A HOLE LIKE THAT GIRL AT THE END OF THE DESCENT 2

  • @ClythiaMystica it appears that your mentality is poor. I would go to a metal asylum. plus I reported you to youtube for that post. I hope you get your account suspended

  • @zgrillo2004 fuck u cunt

  • @ClythiaMystica I dont have to, retard

  • @zgrillo2004 FUCK YOU BITCH ASS SHIT EATER!

  • @ClythiaMystica Hahaha. go make more threats to me. I love it

  • @zgrillo2004 nah ur not worth my time.. cunt.

  • @GTFHercules It's like comparing Eggs with Salmon...

  • Not true. Freespace is no better nor worse than Descent. There is no comparisons between these two games. Expect for the name which was used for copyrights reasons.

  • @TigerRaptorFX hmm are you shure? I was thinking that due to that Descent- first word - that was the same universe?

  • No connection to the series what so ever. Same thing goes for Descent to Undermountain. It uses the Descent graphics engine and published under Interplay. But just like Freespace, there is no comparison.

  • I still am playing this game. I've continued this game and it never gets old.

  • never seen this ending before...

  • give you chilles doesn't it

  • you dumbfuck, there is no other ending.

  • evry time i c this i get chills

  • THIS IS EPIC

  • You fail...

  • NO U!!

  • I was talking to NukeLok1.

  • Ha, shows how little you know about classic games

  • descent and fallout were one of the best games of all time from one of the best companies of all time

  • Descent 2. Its a DOS game made by Parallax Software and Interplay in 1996, squeal to the original Descent game, which was made in 1995.

It's not a horror film, its just a game.

  • What is this? I was looking for The Descent (the horror film)'s alternative ending and this comes up? What game is this?

  • The game Descent 2 published by Interplay in 1996.

  • Is there a reason the drive malfunctioned? Any foreshadowing?

(other than to be a sequel hook?)

  • PTMC saboutaged the warp drive to do that as explained in the first few cutscenes of Descent 3.

It was a sequel hook, but I thought D3 had a great setup (shaky execution, but great setup none-the-less)

  • But no foreshadowing in D2? Cool, thanks.

  • It's revealed in the sequel.

  • ya what he said

  • That ending still gives me chills, 12 years later.

  • me 2 it is so fucking epic

  • @danooct1 Agreed. Chilling. Wish D3 had been more like the first two games. They should always end with an unexpected twist or a spine-tingling cliffhanger. Hey, it worked really well for the first two games...

  • Kratos, this is a memory about when i was young, i don't pay attention about graphics and other things, you needn't be nerd to enjoy good memories of the '90ies i was 4 the first time i played this game. now i hate videogames.

  • You know what Krato, if you are gonna make fucking complaints about nerds. then why the fuck dont you just fucking kill yourself like a goddamn dick because YOU ARE A DICKHEAD. I am a nerd and I take that as a very VERY BAD OFFENSE. You should be ashamed of yourself for discriminating people for what they like. its segregation and since its bullying, you should be arrested for cyber-bullying as it is ILLEGAL in this country. I hope ill see you in court.

  • Speaking of terrible. kratosathenazeus proofread your shit.

  • Kratos, do you always make it a habit to type with your fucking elbows?

  • My Best games is

    Wing Commander 3

    Descent 2

    Freespace

    X Wing

  • Tie Fighter?

  • Descent 2 was where it was at when i was a kid. I liked I played it more than duke nukem and heretic (when i was a kid). When I got older I didnt understand the enhancement mods and ended up playing heretic a lot. lol Duke Nukem 3d is actually boring anymore...

  • <3 this game because it ran perfectly on the 32 mb ram compaq with msdos and no internet that i had in my room..many nights staying up late (:

and it even runs decently on my 348 mb 64mb videocard dell thats all messed up with viruses and crap.. though it DOES lag a little bit...

  • best game ever dravis is a ling scumbag and matiral defender (md1032/vertigo1) rocks

  • A subspace jump is been malfunction I think dravis a is Post Terrain Mainteance Conrporation traitor.

  • That same planetoid was in D3:Mercenary

  • descent proves that graphics dont make a game. best game of all time. and most durable too apparently, as my 13 year old D2 disk will tell you

  • Thumb's up on that! Hardly any game cd's are durable... "ALL" my Blizzard Entertainment Cd's (I own every blizzard game) fail on install so I had to download the ISO's but install with MY cd keys. Same with my Unreal Tournament 2004 Dvd, and soon my CRYSIS dvd (what a let down). I take good care of my disc too, put them in their cases, try not to get fingerprints on them etc... All my oldies like Descent series (yup 1-3), Duke, Doom, Heretic, Red Neck Rampage, etc all still work!

  • Descent 2 is the low-spec game with fascinating gameplay, pure action=packed.

Unlike nowadays modern games, you don't need to throw millions of bucks buying Quadcores and Gigs of rams to play similar games.

    D2 rocks.

  • I owned at this game. Unstoppable on IDL, and Cases ladder. :) Too bad they don't remake the game with the same feel as D1/D2. D3 is a pos.

  • me reminds the starwars saga

  • Nah, Descent is better than Star Wars

  • "Abort the jump! Repeat: abort jump!!"

    "I CAN'T!"

    *boom*

  • the best game ive ever played in my whole entire life. do they have descent games on gamecube ps2 or xbox?

  • Descent was ported to the ps1.

  • Descent 2 is for PSX also

  • very cool ending. ahhh...the good old times. actually i just replay it. it still rocks.

the best lan game ever ;) deathmatch pandemonium!

  • the descent series owns. halo is for pussies

  • son of a..... i hate posteran. good ol matrial defender so gullable

  • by far best game ever crap best game ever (in 1990s cause halo is pretty close) but i would still chose to be back in the good ol days with descent and d2 i dont care for d3 i want the ptms even if they are screwed up

  • despite all the great games being made today, assasins creed, crysis, half life 2, whatever, descent 2 will always be my fav.

  • "Idiot! What do you think I'm doing?!"

  • I think they got that first bit right out of Return of the Jedi, with the explosion following him out of the tunnel.

  • Parallax Software made the best game in 1996: descent 2! I was wondering why Parallax was split in two companies. That was a big mistake: THQ bought Outrage and Volition...

  • I remember this ending always gave me goosebumps, and it still does.

  • For its time the CGI was top-notch. I remember wishing they'd do a full-length movie like that.

  • I love the explosition and the light effects are great

  • this game is awesome

  • I have a question. How to get Descent 2 to play the classical in-game cutscenes instead of these movies? I played Descent Interactive Demo and it had a great intro with climatic music, and these movies suck compared to it. Same with descent 1. I was unable to get Descent 2 to play full cutscenes, only the robot info. Can this be tweaked somehow?

  • I think we could accomplish graphics like this in real time now :)

  • now if every game had an ending this stunning... but man I love this game, still have it too, after all these years.

  • I like the part where the the afterburner is used, around 25 seconds in... I remember playing the game and seeing this for myself, i was so proud to beat it

  • Uggghh *shivers* that stupid jerk dravis

  • Is there anywhere else i can see the rest of the movie cutscenes?

  • Other than on youtube?

I have created a playlist that has all the descent cutscenes.

  • Actually, 98-99 I think. But your right, definitely good for its generation.

  • Nope, D2 came out in mid 96, D3 came out in 99

  • My god, so amazing. Breathtaking. Phenomenal graphics for 1996.

  • Of course I know that.

  • damn, do they make it for PC? i had this game on my old mac back in 98

  • yes, all 3 Descent games where released for PC.

The first two might be a little hard to get these days though. The third game is sold in a budget version in most videogame stores (in my country at least).

There was a "Definitive Collection Box", with Descent 1 + Levels of the world + Descent Map Builder, 2 + the Vertigo expansion pack released in about 1999, I'm not sure how hard it is to get today.

  • Never once did I feel the need to buy a joystick for my PC. I bought one after I played this for 5 minutes, and it's all I played after that. Descent 2 = My Fav game of all time.

  • im sorry, but fraps is what exactly?

  • it's a screen capturing software that enables you to record multiple stills and videos of what you're recording. note, that it is not freeware.

  • recording=playing, sorry. it only works in games by the way.

  • o, well howd u get em in the first place? did u have the game and somehow get a program to open the files?

  • For Descent 2 I was able to use Fraps.

  • tiger can u send me this plz???

  • Wish I could help. But the truth is I no longer have these clips saved any where.

  • how can i get this?
