  • how do i install games without them going to my ssd automatically.

  • hey i got a sata cable wich said 3gbs/6gbs. i bought a agility 3 with 120 gigs of storage but i got a question abouth its speed. it says that it can hit 550 mb of read and 500 mb write speed can i acomplis this with this cable?

  • kingston is shit

  • how do you make an SSd as a boot drive?

  • man, didnt know that SSD last over 50 years. thats is quite good. finally i can get to see my SSD if i buy one last longer when im old. instant seeing about 10-15 harddrives with moving parts die as an example.

  • I have had HDD's last way more than 5 years, up to ten or 12, so that's more marketing BS, however ther's no question an SSD is still more reliable, way faster, and just moredurable overall.

  • I like these style reviews compared to your newer ones. Just a personal preference, though.

  • i see some people are copmlicating about ssd's and there are not many space ok look

80 GB is good space for ssd's install your os and all of your games in it ( i sayed install not store ) and store all of your media files in regular hard drive and i reccomend to go with 640 GB caviar black it will do good for storing your data and it is very fast .

    sorry for disturb

  • SSD Drive = Solid State Drive Drive

  • @Victim15 solid state disk !

  • @chakalaca465465 Pff... it's called a DRIVE because this piece of hardware DOESN'T have a disc in it.

    SOLID STATE DRIVE, get it?

  • Another idiot who can't tell it's and its apart.

  • i went with the 60gb mushkin callisto deluxe. superb drive!!

  • Hi. I agree with you totally but... for those who don't know you can install or should i say copy or backup windows in less than 8 min. with all of your settings, installed Software and Drivers. I don't know about back-up but i know a way to copy windows XP in 5 min. no bull.

It saves a lot of money and A LOT OF TIME which I LOVE that. Unfortunately i can't show that in video, neither in WMWare, but i can explain. Who likes the idea i am happy to share.

  • Man, when SSD's become standard, I will buy them, but for now, im going to use regular HDD's because of price! :)

  • ... and good video by the way =)

  • This test system only has 2GB of DDR2? how long ago was this? because now your test system has 24GB of DDR3 hahaha =P

  • i got a 6.8 in windows index 7x64 using 64gb ssd

  • 2:00 "life expectancy"

THE GRAPH IS A LIE !!

  • They are selling for arround £100 here in northern ireland. They are def worth the money!!! my computer boots up in seconds, just like turning a tv on!!

  • i can only recommend ANYONE to enforce a firmware update (with intel firmware) to activate proper trim maintenance functionality.

  • I have an HDD from 1997 that still works...

  • Now that I can have this SSD when I am 134 years old, I can remember everything!!!! .........

  • Can anyone tell me what else one puts on their boot drive besides the os? I know you don't put music, movies, photos or any of that, so what else is there besides the os?

  • you are right about the photos etc. these files are small or are only loaded a few at a time. the other things you could put on your ssd's are heavy programs and games. games for example have to load a lot of textures which takes time if you use high settings. for an ssd this wont be a problem :).

programs like photoshop or 3d editing software just have to load a lot of files to work. an ssd will boot these programs almost instantly :)

  • @chaosc00l vir mem

  • major programs.. office suites like MS Office or Open Office.. stuff like Photoshop which normally takes a long time to load.. just about any program or game that takes forever to initially boot. any type of editing software, video, audio, image, etc. is a prime candidate for sticking on an SSD drive. maybe that one game you play ALL the time, whatever it may be. but i wouldnt store games on it in general.

  • I use this SSD for my HTPC. The system boots from Windows 7 hibernation in about 12 seconds. My mobile phone takes longer to start than this SSD!

Word of note though, this SSD does not support TRIM. The Intel controller this SSD uses does support that functionality, so its possible that a future flash update could add this Windows 7 supported feature.

  • i thought about this too but im also gonna use this for my htpc and who's transferring files all the time on an htpc? Probably no one since all the media files are on regular HDD's. the sdd will have the os and media center program installed on it and thats it. there probably wont be any performance degradation since files dont change. of course this is different if you want to use it in your normal pc.

  • People don't buy a 40 GB SSD boot drive for data integrity, they buy it for read performance and to reduce Windows boot time.

SSD technology will eventually take over from traditional disk drives, but not in the near future due to cost. Then you can start talking about data integrity.

I would also mention that the drive is not "Very Silent", its completely silent, its has no moving parts.

  • How can i store all my applications and games into a 40gb drive if my 320gb is half filled with them=??

  • Do you mean applications or Games. you can store the applications on there not games, games and media go on your 320.

  • Im sorry,.. im a newbie... but i didnt know that you can install games in other driver than System drive!! How is it possible!!???

  • @motherboardsorg how about 120 Gb. OCZ ssd for games world of warcraft, SCII, and in the future Diablo 3

  • The drive is only for the OS, not for storing applications. You would use your other HDD for storing your applications and data.

  • For $200. you can get a 40Gb SSD drive, and a 1TB HDD, that would be the perfect setup for most power users.

  • I was interested that your focus was on the reliability of the drive verses the speed factor using it as a boot drive. Do people also put application programs on this drive typically or on another drive?

  • You can store the applications on the SSD, but all the big media files should be stored on he HDD.

  • Nice vid!

  • Nice video! Thanks for the info! 5/5

  • Very nice I just may get this in the summer and use my 320gb drive for games and storage :)

  • how could you do that? Doesnt games need to be stored at same system drive???

  • my score is 5.9 Regular hard drive/

  • Only SSD drives score higher than 5.9 in Windows 7

  • this is the one that i need ,, tnx for the review, ,

    i would install 1 x of this ssd for windows 7 , office 2007 etc + 2 x 80gb hdd in raid for games + 1tb for data , ,

  • That'd be a NICE setup :)

  • Tnx, , i cant find this one anywhere, there are older ones available only, , ,

  • @motherboardsorg Is that true for all regular hdd? or just coincidence. Curious cause I get a 5.9 on two drives in raid 0 which is same speed as one... hmm.

  • Yes any configuration or HDD be it RAID or otherwise will only get a 5.9 score..

  • @motherboardsorg Wow no wonder! Thanks for the info. Love your videos btw.

  • are you serious? thats kinda bogus

  • Talk to Billy Gates

  • Personally if i was in front of that guy Id kill him and watch him die but thats ME :D

  • does it run hot? would it heat the inside the case more? My Hdd runs at 25 celcius ( a lilttle bit more then room temp) what does the ssd run out?

  • No Heat From an SSD, they run extremely cool

  • i thought it couldent get better but it just has........is there anything that can go wrong with them? what sort f problems could you encounter.?

  • Only being physically damaged will result in data loss

  • They run lots cooler and are smaller.

they run off a amount of write to the drive I think.

You do not defrag a ssd it will wear it out and if you get one with trim you can use that.

    great vid 5/5

  • Defragging will actually destroy the SSD

  • will it still let you run disk defrag? i know it will ruin it but has microsoft disabled disk defrag on a ssd system?

  • Windows offers the DeFrag option, but the drive is never automatically Defragged, you have to do that yourself.

  • Windows 7 has an option to turn off automatic defragementing of the SSD...

  • @RickArter, new modern 2008-2010 SSD's don't wear out. At least any time soon. With average 2-5 million cycle life span, at 80MB/sec you could write to one day and night for over 50 years. But it could mess with it in a way that might slow it some. The SSD myth and legends page has more on this.

  • SSD is a monster...
