@DevilDogOoorah balance improves and you build explosive strength because the weight increases as you push towards completing the rep (because the chains come off the ground as you lift higher)
There are different reasons to using many chains as opposed to plates+one or few chains. If there was a ONE right way to train, every pro bodybuilder would be using that same technique. All of you who say it's wrong well, you are all pretenders, anyone else would know you need to mix it up to keep the body from adapting too much.
@elakpingvin They aren't pretenders, they are actually right. The purpose of the chains is to train improve strength and speed, therefor the rep range should be low with a huge amount of sets. Not to say that the way he uses the chains is forbidden or completely wrong use of chains, but the idea of Louie Simmons is not being applied. This way the chains are used here is just another way to, but it does defeat the original purpose of using chains.
I'm not saying he's doing it the original way, I'm saying that the person in question is probably experienced enough to have adapted the way he's training for his own personal goals.
Whether or not someone else had the idea of using the same kind of tool in a different way,
way back when ever is then irrelevant.
A good example is the barbell itself; I bet whoever invented it did not intend to use it in all the countless ways people do today.
there's nothing wrong with this. he's using the chains the way there always used... there's just no plates on the bar... the chains are still adding weight.......so nice job man chains can be tough
Looks to me like they're using the chains in the same idea as using kettlebells for weight, to destabilize the bar as much as anything. Good idea if you ask me
@omfgapolarbear although they do that, they're mainly used for having different weights at different points of the bench. 2000ss said its about 285 at lockout. Now if he couldn't do 285 for full reps as many times as he did this. This would help him by doing lower weight off the chest but he would still be locking 285 out. Just a tool to train and get stronger.
Sorry big kosto but Im just tired of these "B and C" (bench and curl fags) that infiltrate the gym's of America, and comment on vids about technique etc, while they should be busy trying to stop themselves from starring in the mirror, sipping smoothies, taking pilates with there BF's, and talking about the newest issue of muscle and fitness. These Chicken Legged full of shit meatheads have destroyed the concept of fitness in this country
This video was taken at All American Gym, ranked as one of the top 50 best "Real Power" gyms by Powerlifting USA, and for the people who say this is the wrong use of chains etc have no clue what they are talking about. I am NASM certified, still a current Powerlifter, 8 years of football (highschool and college), I know a "wee" bit about this....so with that said the concept in this video and with these chains is to stimulate the stabilizers in the delt+pecs. not for power. Ive been there
Yes, I train with chains every so often. Look further into powerlifting, and more importantly, louie simmons for how to properly apply chains to bench presses, and squats. You'll see what I mean.
well ur training wrong with chains, the whole point of chains is so tahtu have a max of lets say 225 and u r plateued then u add a chain or 2 so its a bitheavier and it get the weight up, there are also other reasons such as for balance and stuff but ur def not doing it ight
