DN3D rarely had you fight more than 10 dudes at a time. It's about open-ended level design, interactivity and replayability.

Serious Sam is about killing. TONS of killing. It's not rare for enemy counts to exceed 1,000 in one level. It has more in common with a top-down scrolling shooter than with Duke Nukem.

What Duke Nukem Forever should have been? Don't make me laugh. Serious Sam is basically nothing more than killing horder after horde which works fine for the series overall. Duke Nukem is completely different and has a different style of play; if anything Duke Nukem needs to stay away from Serious Sam as Forever felt too much like it at times; I.E kill this lot before you proceed which just does not work in Duke Nukem but is ok in serious sam. Still I liked Forever and I'll like Serious sam 3 :)

Continued: What I mean by "Kill this lot before you can proceed" is in Forever you were sometimes literally forced to kill all the enemies in the area before a door or something opened to let you go further; sounds too much like Serious Sam if I'm honest wheras in Duke Nukem 3D you had more freedom and could avoid enemies if you liked. Duke Nukem Forever needed to expand on what was great in Duke 3D; not use common formulas in other games. Ah well; live and learn ;)

As good as this game is; I wouldn't really bother saying "What Duke Nukem Forever should have been :(" because to be honest Duke Nukem Forever felt too much like serious sam in some areas. In Duke Nukem Forever you killed this lot, moved on, killed another bunch much like serious sam. Though if you mean visuals and lots of weapons I'm right there with ya; though a future Duke Nukem game should not go near serious sam because Duke Nukem was never about hordes or constant killing

In Serious Sam killing this lot and moving on is ok since that's that moreless the foundation of the series but not in Duke Nukem as Duke Nukem's formula in general is supposed to be a lot more complex. Hopefully the next Duke Nukem game gets it right and with it being totally built from the ground up; I imagine it will be. As for Serious Sam III can't wait to play it :)
