No computer experience and pick up and learn Zbrush in a couple of hours? Wow, I must have been really thick then, took me ages and I've been working with 3d for twelve years before Zbrush.
hate the word talent.. Obviously she has passion for it, but to shove onto talent? I reckon she has worked her ass off to get to the level in modelling she's at.. years and years of practise
@jinsuen Yeah, but thats exactly what I mean m8 :D If you've trained/practised so hard for something for a very long time.. And you show your portfolio to people and they say.. 'My gosh, you're quite the talented one, aren't you?'. Then, sorry but I really feel this way, you're insulting the person.
I love blurs work, in my top 3 fav studios, BUT i have always said to friends that (IN MY OPINION) i am not such a fan of there female characters ... just a little to anime for my tastes. BUT for the record, this is just my atheistic taste and i am in no way trying to put her skills down, she is very talented clearly and far beyond anything I could do.
Hehe thats why If you want to get em done the way you want - do em yourself hehe - Im actually doing just that, I wonder what you would call someone who can do the whole lot, mod, animation, rigg, scripting, render - etc. - even music cause so far I can do em all but the programs are lacking emselves....
I just started using zbrush with my Wacom & have to agree 100% with her. I think she said it best, zbrush really does let your creative ideas flow from your mind through pen allowing them to just spill out onto your model. I HEART ZBRUSH!
i wanna know what school u went through 2 get where u r... and what companies... im rlly need some point of direction to head in... so i u could contact meh that could potentially be life altering =P
Go the Art Institute for Game Art and Design. To get accepted there, all you need is a portfolio that shows your enthusiasm. Im accepted to go to the institute in San Diego for a lifetime, but I dont have $75K to spend to get a Bach. degree. And that was in 2004. Im scared to look at the cost now. But to get into a company, you really just need to show that you know what you are doing. If you got talent, they want you.
The Art Institute is more concerned about your money, if you have the money they'll pretty much take anybody. Luckily I got a full scholarship to one. The teachers were a bunch of out of work, washed up artists. If you have $75K, spend it on a real school like Gnomon, Ringling, VFS, or even Full Sail. What I like about Gnomon though is you can pick and choose the courses you want and all the instructors are actively working in the industry.
I met one of the instructors, and the guy works for Midway and EA. And its not all about the money. They do want to see what you can do. I had a portfolio of 3D models I made and some character and level sketch work. Ive been drawing since I was 2 years old, and I showed them I have a working knowledge of how I would make a game more interesting. Thats how I got accepted. If you come in yelling you want to make games and have the money, they will turn you down. Saw it happen.
Well, I guess since there is more of a demand now than back when I went, they can pick and choose. I still believe the schools I mentioned are hard to beat if you're looking for schools that primarily focus on the film and game industry.
Every person has those "one day I'm gonna have one of those" dreams & I like you am gonna have a Cintiq one day, dammit. My Intuos crapped & I'm playing around with a lame Bamboo Fun right now, but hurray $40 rebate now available for the Intuos 3 4x6! I'll have a new one next pay day! Cintiq will have to wait but one day I WILL HAVE IT!
i respect you like a rockstar.
