  • I am watching all the episode's at the moment with my 5 year old daughter who is American.

I am a Brit who grew up with On the Buses.

She loves the show and laughs at it all the time as i did.

    Wants me to play more...

I miss toughs times when i was a child and humor was simpler.

No one complained about , we did things together.

As i remember my grandmother saying about her earlier life..

    The good old days..

    I now am officially old..lol

  • So so sad about bob grant

R.I.P and R.I.P to the cast of on the buses on the set who aren't here

  • Everyone of these made me laugh so much

  • Absolutely love this show

They don't make good clean comedy like this these days .

Just got the box set for my birthday.

  • @Antsautoshine "Clean" comedy? It's a racist series.

  • @MrRobertJameson Shut up you PRAT

  • @Antsautoshine Totally agree with you.Enjoy your box set.

  • It was a very unfunny series. The only reason people watched it is because there were only three channels then, and no Internet or computers.

  • @MrRobertJameson Not really bothered what you thinks funny or not.I enjoyed it and still do and i think it funny.192 likes and 7 dislikes and your just one of 7 people who have no sense of homour.

  • @mrnatty122 Reg Varney was far too old to play the main character who was only supposed to be about 35.

I'm glad Bob Grant killed himself.

  • @MrRobertJameson Your a very bitter and twisted person to say something like that about Bob Grant. My understanding is that your probably under the age of 10 to come out with a comment like that.If your Dad or someone you loved suffered from depression and killed themself and someone put a comment on you tube like you just have ,how would that make you feel? Think on.

  • The mother here reminds me of the Queen Mum.

And Stephen Lewis reminds me of Prince Philip.

  • fantastic to see all the cast of on the buses later in life am a massive fan of on the buses makes me proud to be english an brilliant interview to watch

  • bob has aged here..still has the big knashers!

  • @funkitom8 - He'd still be alive now only for the fact that he took his own Life.

  • oooh stan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Steven Lewis without the moustache reminds me of an actor in James Bond.

  • Bob Grant..actually crashed a bus and got the sack in real life..amazing!

RIP to the wonderful wonderful that's passed on.

  • theres only ollie and blakey left now, all the rest are dead.

  • @wayneypayney That is what happens...It is the ONLY thing that is certain, And it is the ONLY thing we all have in common...We die! There is nobody gets out of that one, As you get older you are less bothered about the fact you WILL die. Can you imagine if you lived forever, I do believe you would go insane if you lived forever and did not age. The novelty of living forever would soon wear off and you would go insane OR/AND end up taking your own life.

  • Didn't Cicely Courtneidge play 'Mum' of Stan in the pilot version? This was a lovely comedy though the ones done without Reg were a bit like the 'Merry Men' without Robin Hood .

  • @rewinder47 That's right cos Doris Hare apparantly had minor role in Coronation Street during the first series in 1969, though thought Cicely Courtneidge played Mrs Butler fairly well, its Doris who really won many adoring fans hearts, as for Reg Varney leaving halfway through the final series in 1973, don't think it was ever revealed why, but like how you put that last part, the remaining episodes without him, were like the Merry Men without Robin Hood.

  • I was lucky enough to work as a bus conducter, Grey trousers, green blazer and tie, peaked cap optional but I used to love wearing mine, leather satchell and the Almex ticket machine. Mental arithmetic and a sense of balance essential.

  • Olive has been the most successful.

  • Shame to see such "DESPERATE LOVIES"

  • i'm from canada and i remember watching this great show when i was a kid... god bless this great cast of people

  • Fantastic.

  • What more can you say except for FANTASTIC ! Wish we could go back to them days !

  • Great footage of the On The Buses gang, really love this show to bits.

  • R.I.P. poor Bob Grant, he met a very tragic end!!!

  • @TheDorancd Yep poor guy, a mate was telling me about his tragic passing.

  • @thevster1603

Such a shame 2 see someone so young already so bitter. U really need 2 take a look at history. What the hell has colour got 2 do with great comedy? Have u ever heard of Windrush? There were thousands of W.Indians that came 2 Britain in the early 60's that have contributed greatly 2 the UK, Many had fought in the WW2 to save the UK & give you the freedom you have today. Indians run all the shops because your average white person would not want to work the hours & I'm a white male

  • @fookyooman indians run all the shops for one reason as you stated english would not work late hours,i have one corner shop near us and they close at nine, and its run by white english, and there is another but about 10 minutes walk away, not really far,and they close at 12,and thats run by indians, jsut shows who is more commited to work and hard working and i am not english, neither am i indian

  • @manisco1 I am white british, my father owned 2 shops from 1966 up to 1983 when he retired.

He worked from 5 am in the morning until 12 midnight. He had 2 saying ' get it while you can ' and ' hard work never hurt anyone ' and when my mother died when I was 12 years old he not only run 2 shops but he also managed a house ( cooked, cleaned etc etc & bought up a child. Sometimes he'd take me up to london in the early hours I asked why only were indians out at 4am he would say what you have said.

  • @manisco1 2 days generation I guess

  • It's so sad what happened to Bob Grant you'd never think by his actng that he had bad depression even in this interview he seemed happy as ever, even though he tried to commit a fews year earlier , i always thought he was this confident happy person but having no money and having trouble finding work is bad ,hope your up there mate womanizing all the birds like you did done here ;) R.I.P mate ,best comedy On The Buses and im 18 lol :)

  • MUM

Doris Hare (1905–2000) She was alive in 1990.

  • @cw605 At 85 Doris looked marvellous here and still seemed to have all her wits about her.

  • @MeBenHalpin

    amazing

  • Comment removed

  • This must be the 80's...they mentioned Mullins

  • Comment removed

  • I strongly doubt this is from 1990 actually. I don't think the old woman was alive anymore in 1990. Plus the quality of the footage and overall style there has ''1980'' written all over it...

  • @SuperSmilingSmiley Doris Hare died in the year 2000, aged 95.

  • @midianholic oh yea, I must have got her mixed up with someone else. Thanks.

  • Comment removed

  • Reg Varney was SO extremely young looking for his age... he was born in 1916.... he looked at least 20 years younger than his actual age, both during the series AND in the interview....

  • Doris Hare starred in 3 of the Confessions films playing Timmy Lea's mother.

  • Wonderful, also sad to know alot of these great actors have gone,so sad.

  • theres no prog that has come along in the past 30 years thats compares to on the buses, my 7 year old loves watchin and finds it funny, you cant beat the oldies xxx

  • i am getting older so i think i wouldn't mind olive lol

  • @7777blues That's what happens when you get long in the tooth. You'll grab anything. ;)

  • this was only 3 years after Grant tried to kill himself the first time

  • @MickeyLove01 i hadno idea he was suicidal....what a great guy

  • Lovely to see the whole gang back together, thank you very much!

  • What a show ! ; up there with the BEST of the 'Carry On' teams work

  • Doris and reg are the only ones who sound like their characters

  • 6 Fantastic actors and a show that will always be funny, magic !!!!!!

  • absolute magic.. thnx poster this is priceless

  • bob grant would you beleive how posh his real voice is compared to the show. brilliant programe brought familys together then and even now! you cant make programmes like this anymore and its a shame but what a fantastic thing eh on the busses was brilliant... thanks for uploading

  • Fantastic,,,thanks for posting...

  • All 6 of us in our family would sit down and be glued to the telly watching "On the Buses". We would howl with laughter then talk about it all week until the next episode. What I wouldn't do to be able to laugh out loud at tv nowadays. No wonder we're all reminiscing about the old days of tv. We had some fantastic funny, clean but raunchy shows back then. The Rag Trade - hilarious. Never Mind the Quality feel with Width. Only the British could come up with a title as funny as that. Dad's army!

  • Oh how I miss those days.Just simple plain uncomplicated humour.Sit back on the couch and relax. Not the crap knowadays.I miss comedies like On the buses,Dad's Army,Only fools and horses etc,I wonder what the hell has happened?

  • Stephen Lewis, such a great actor. This is the first time I've heard him as himself! Thanks for putting this on youtube. Wonderful stuff.

  • @areyoureceivingme yes absolutely -he shouldve been around the chat shows--very funny man

  • Thanks for putting this on you tube. Great show that I grew up on and love to this day. Who needs Political Correctness!! So much fun and so many memories. God bless 'em all.

  • ;'(

it is a shame that series was never made; on the buses last episode didn't give it an ending which it deserved!

  • Jack (Bob Grant) was the original lad, a role model for all geezers since, the seventies started with him as it's blueprint.

  • @JuanMacready Bob was a great man I didn't find him ugly I actually had a bit of a crush on him still do if I'm honest. He was a fine actor and is still saldy missed by many fans R.I.P Bob we miss you xx

Great video nice to see the hole cast together great group of people and a fantastic show

  • Good old British Humour. They where the good days of British television.

  • @JuanMacready thats a pretty mean spin on a man who suffered clinical depression because of the scarcity of work in his industry.

  • @cranyonrye He could have always looked for a real job.

  • It's amazign to see all these people in later life. I'm surpirsed at the accent of Michael Robbins and Bob Grant, very different to the show. I can see how the cancer affected Michale, he looks rather frail. Was a terrific show.

  • @JuanMacready He suffered from deppression due to a lack of work so dont speek about him like that. Bob grant was a great actor and made many people laugh at him and the rest of the cast. He will always be rememberd by me and many other people R.I.P Bob

  • Great Brit com

  • Love it

  • Bob Grant suffered with depression for many years,so sad as these dear actors gave so much joy and laughter to thousands of viewers.I l,ove this and the Carry on Team :-)

  • what a great video - i love On The Buses.

  • This is pure magic!!! Nice to see the whole cast together, sad that some of them have now passed away. I enjoyed every minute of this video, thanks for posting!!

  • @fitnessisgood4u I'VE JUST BEEN ON YOUR PAGE, AND YOU SPENT MANY HOURS SLAGGING OFF RICHARD BURTON!!!!!!!!!!! THAT SAYS IT ALL TO ME. YOU HAVE NO IDEA AT ALL. MERRY XMAS, AND GOOD LUCK. SADDO. (by the way, you have been black balled by every AM DRAM society I belong to.) LOL!!!

  • @RichardElden RUBBISH!!!! (to you and your stupid friend "Macready") Stop looking at these sites and leave us alone, you JERKS Many thanks.

  • Just been on "JUANMACREADY"s page. This person is hell bent on upsetting as many people as possible. Ignore the idiot. Bob wasn't a "strange man" he was very depressed, but a great man and a great actor nonetheless. Take care, buses fans.

  • did bob grant do ANYTHING else in the acting field?

  • @bettypro Yes he was a highly acclaimed stage actor before On the Buses but the series forever typecast him and he struggled to get parts after it finished. He continued to act on stage but was only once on TV again.

  • @JuanMacready why did they hate him?

  • @bettypro I think they didn't like him getting married to his third wife.

  • This was recorded in 1990. It is great to see the cast all together again. This was probably the last time they were all together. R.I.P Doris Hare, Reg Varney, Bob Grant, and Michael Robbins.

  • @JuanMacready Poor sad troll... get a life or try to grow up. Stupid boy.

  • @JuanMacready I always wonder why cretins who dislike something bother to comment on it.........your point is what exactly?

  • @gdv42 DON'T FEED THE TROLL!!

  • @JuanMacready Oh, I see that you are 16.....not sure if it's your age or IQ

  • @gdv42 DON'T FEED THE TROLL!!

  • @woodkerne wise words

  • @woodkerne the troll has been removed

  • that was great thanks for this.

  • Such a missed opportunity....

  • @Oculas2003 Would it have been as unfunny as the original series?

  • ON THE BUSES GOT THE FULL SERIES AND FILMS SUPERB AND TOTALLY TALENTED ACTORS RIP THOSE THAT ARE GONE.

  • jack is dead now RIP guys

  • @JuanMacready what cos of ole chalky give me a break chill out it was a funny ole show.

U shoould watch love thy neighbour now that was racist but at the time so funny sambooooo

  • Brilliant - thanks for posting this. What lovely people. But poor old Bob :-(

And isn't Stephen Lewis completely normal tho!!

  • Brilliant - thanks for posting this. What lovely people. But poor old Bob :-(

  • @JuanMacready You poor little misinformed boy . You probably dont find it funny as you love Cromwell - perhaps not as amusing as Oliver Cromwell`s genocide against Irish Catholics I agree . As you probably know Cromwell exterminated the people of Drogheda and Wexford and took took land from Catholics and made them move to poor land. No wonder he`s so hated in Irish history. Clearly a much loved guy eh !

  • when you see the rubbish on tv now and then see this ensemble together it makes you wonder. Why didnt some tv executive just stick them in an OAP home sitcom situation. British TV has sadly been going downhill since circa 1980.

  • i love these characters!

  • god bless you for uploading this, when was this filmed

  • ....what date,,,was wogan....? anybody,,,?

  • Such legends! Altogether! (Bless Bob Grant) It's such a pity that things fell apart in the actors personal lives and on screen. I still love them all :D xx

  • I think Bob Grant always had bipolar disorder. The series would have been too out of date in the early 1990s.

  • I'm surprised that they didn't make a reference to Cicely Courtneidge, the first mother.

  • All there actors are absoloute legends, on the buses is and always be the best sitcom around!

  • God love them all. We used to watch this growing up in nice simpler times. I love and long for those days

  • no mate its because people helped others out ur a joker pal

  • That's only because they didn't have anything to steal.

  • Jack sounds so posh!

  • Whatever happened to the 'Back On The Buses' pilot this show was plugging? Any chance of uploading that?

  • It was never made but the plot line was Stan & Jack pitting rival bus firms with Blakeys..

  • racsist ??? get a life you sad little turd

  • Unfunny is a matter of opinion but it wasn't racist. I don't know where you got that from.

  • What's that got to do with it being racist? I honestly can't recall any racism in On the Buses. If you have any specific examples I would be interested to know.

  • There was only a few remarks, such as when striking Stan refers to "you won't find any blacklegs around here..." cue looking at the black bus driver who was also referred to as Chalky. It wasn't errant racism. Back then you had a nickname if you were short, a nickname if you were tall, a nickname if you were coloured. It wasn't spiteful or disrepectful or meant that way. Hence the BBC still show it.

  • @JuanMacready get a life you politically correct freak.on the busses best british comedy of all time.

  • BUTLER.... GET THAT BUS OUTT!!!

  • Brilliant show..miles funnier than the rubbish sitcoms that are on now. Arthur and Olive were just gold! Amazingly stephen lewis was just 37 when he started playing Blakey ! he look well into his 50's in the show! RIP Reg,Doris,Bob and Michael.

  • I never knew Bob Grant was posh! It's amazing hearing him talk as himself.

  • " thats made my day that has"

" i'm gonna make a full report to the manager"

  • Together with George & Mildren, these two comedy series were the best in the 70's........still are

  • wonderful script, talented actors'and I am still watching r-runs in Oz.Having worked on the buses in Blackpool,in the 60's I can relate to it all!

  • in 4 years they filmed 74 episodes and 3 movies thats some awesomely hard work they did.

thanks to the one remaining cast member allall the cast members that passed R.I.P

  • Stephen has retired due to ill health

  • @jrgboy i thought stephen was still on last of the summer wine?

  • He was not in the last series shown last summer. see his wikipedia entry

  • i ate you butler oh that was such a good show

  • after watching this they REALLY need to do a fawlty towers reunion before it's too late, but i don't see that happening because connie booth went a lil funny

  • Fawlty Towers Reopened was shown last year on GOLD last year - interviews with the cast, incuding Connie, though not together, runs for 90 mins..

  • that was archive connie booth, no?

  • No, all the interviews were done last year

  • Stephen Lewis is not dead

  • stephen lewis could come back as bus depo manager , i know hes getting on a bit but this role would suit him good.then we just need a stan and another bossy inspector .

  • @FELLOWS09 thats a good idea but hes 73 it would be a little weird though wouldnt it. shame

  • if anyone has watched inbetweeners the guy who plays jay looks a spitting image of bob grant and he's a great actor he has just played young del boy on rock and chips,so he could play conductor . i would also give anna karen the mum role as she would know what the role would need.

  • i hate you wogan erm a mean butler

  • I have enjoyed watching On The Buses from an early age, mainly the 3 films that were made and still watch them now many years later. Harmless, funny British films with great characters and talented actors. Perhaps if ITV (or was it LWT?) had not rejected the idea of a new series then Bob Grant might not have gone into depression and ended his life so soon... I wish they were all still around, but at lest we get to see Aunt Sal on E'enders now & then!

  • Bob Grant Was Eliqent,A bloody good actor.

RIP all cast members that are in Heaven.

  • Bob Grant's voice acting was particularly good in the show, as in real life he sounded very posh and a bit like Leslie Phillips.

  • This is REALLY sad towards the end. You can tell they hadn't been able to get on TV for a few years.

Can I just say hello to the girl next door, Mabel Althorp? She likes being mentioned on youtube.

  • that was funny when reg said he did not learn all that much from going to the bus depot to see them work, as well as when he mentioned the woman and her husband in the car, who saw the great dane sitting next to reg in the drivers compartment, and the woman said "jesus christ there's a dog driving that bus" ha-ha.

  • you could sort of tell stephen lewis was having a little trouble making his blakey voice, it must have been a while since he did that voice.

  • Fuck off you stupid marxist crank.

  • Yes, I too am of the opinion that if a person makes a joke that I personally don't find funny then that person should die. Anyone who thinks that I'm an idiot for making such a sweeping statement is clearly misguided.

  • they aren't all dead, Olive and Blakey are still alive. Olive makes an occasional appearence in Eastenders now and then as Peggy Mitchell's sister. Btw are you black, only a black person would find a black man being called chalkie the most racist thing in the world.

  • oh and Blakey last time i saw was in Last of the Summer Wine

  • Racist? you having a laugh, the most racist thing they had was a black driver called Chalkie. I can think of much much worse shows at that time for racism. Go ask Alf Garnet, i'm sure he'll answer that for you !!

  • Don't be taken in by this young boy, I don't think his Mummy know's he's using her computer!

  • @bondbrookebond Indeed, it's totally unfair to judge a show from back then by todays social rules.

  • @Smirkenorff or archie bunker...this was tame in those aspects!

  • Arthur and Olive (when she was married) name was Rudge, I'm sure it came out in series 7 when the flashed back to when they all met Arthur and his name was Rudge and he was pretending to be a doctor.

  • Did they ever make a pilot episode or any new episodes in the 90's or did it get cancelled. I don't ever remember seeing any of the show in the 90's

  • it was scripted but never frutated ...im afraid no...

    tj

  • get back to the gay bar.
