  • in my country send only 1 car :D but it still working and always end good :)

  • Wow, Man a fire....

  • Where's the water man? Maybe it's from the inside and we're all like where's the water man?

  • man wheres the water man people kill me they are so fucking stupid that they have no idea what it takes to fight a fire in a multi unit building fucking hippies

  • strong work SFFD! stay safe!

  • some times the best way to preserve life is to put some water on the fire before it involves the whole building. There is no excuse not to have water on the fire within 5 minutes of arrival!

  • I hit "mute" half-way through since the 12-year old sounding boy which was probably a 60+ yr old lady was annoying. Its funny how at 7:33 the homies are taking a break from committing crimes to watch. Its like a good movie, every sees them.

  • Comments on here are right, crews are inside attacking the fire from the unburned side as not to push fire, smoke, and steam into the building and are probabaly encountering many obtsacles, smoke and heat on their way in while also performing a primary search. The firefighter on the nozzle on the fire escape is shooting short burst of water on the ceiling to try to cool the fire without blowing it in on the interior crews and the crews above the fire are doing search & rescue. I'm a Houston FF.

  • Whenever I see videos like this when people are yelling about no water it just makes me shake my head. Firefighting is a science that involves multiple techniques. It's not as simple at putting the wet stuff on the red. Many previous comments have explained why there are not performing an exterior attack.

  • i used to live right abouve that apartment!

  • Must have been filming a movie. No Fire Department is really that fkd up...

  • @JACKCOURT haha yeah filming a movie. good one.

  • How many alarms did this go to ?

  • Whoa man! this video was craaaaaazy. haha, so entertaining listening to her. "Wheres the water? I cant believe it, this is craaaaazy" haha. great job SFFD!

  • As today Friday 10/22 we have no idea when we will be moving back in. All because of some idiot.

  • @BigTonySF yah bro.. i am sorry.. it was definitely a huge fire.. i was by there yestereday.. and its awful... sorry for your loss.. the guy was obviously sick... may he find salvation.. cuz he's going to need it.. he did a very terrible thing.. and hurt and affected soo many people..

  • After observing the comments, it seems as if we've had some very knowledgeable people leave the right comments and add some insight. As an engine company you have certain tactics that MUST be done...and search and rescue is one of them. W/ a multi-story high rise early in the morning your first thought is that there are families in the dwellings that may be trapped or asleep. Water can be your friend and your enemy due to thermal layering and spraying water prematurely can cause injury.

  • From the outside you cant tell what is going on inside. There may be difficulty entering locked doors where forcible entry may be required and delaying water application to the fire apartment. This job may have to be performed in zero visibility under heavy smoke conditions in the hallway. The member on the fire escape did not want to spray water thru the window that's why he is not flowing that much. He can burn firefighters working on the inside

  • @JAD22 if youd have listened to my voice during the video taping you will hear me state that there must be a reason for the delay - ie the fire dept working from the inside where we can't see them working..duhhhh... the video does however looks like the fire dept arent putting out the fire.. but in reality they are from the inside.. that is obvious from the steam coming from the windows and etc.. thanks for your comment tho

  • if you listen to my comments you will note that i did state that the reason for the water / delay was prob due to the fact that the fire dept was already applying water inside but we couldnt see it... i'm glad no one was hurt.. and that the person responsible has been arrested..

  • Okay, everyone calm down.

Here are the facts regarding the attacj of this fire: Truck companies (Ladder Trucks) first arriving set up there 'sticks' to get to the roof. Getting to the roof is the only way with this type of structure (zero space between buildings) to access conditions to the rear, as well to check natural ventilation.

As you (GloriaF09) and others are screaming, "where's the water?", "where's the fucking water?" and "that's so weird.", interior crews are inside.

  • @MettaFireRescue As the interior crews are advancing the line inside towards the fire room, exterior crews are accessing conditions. Exterior crews CANNOT spray a line into the fire room, as it would endanger the interior crew and 'push' the flames deeper into the structure.

You shouldn't be so quick to ridicule and question and condemn without knowing the facts, and without knowing what you're seeing and not seeing.

These fireifighters saved an entire row of buildings, by the way.

  • We are trained to attack the fire from inside so as not to push it further into the structure. The hoselines from the ETA are going into the building through the front door. Thats the Attack line and the engine cares 1250 Gallons of water.

  • The occupant of the apartment was placed under arrest for suspicion of arson, 9 unit destroyed. As of this morning, power and services have not been restored. We may not be able to return to our apartments till Thursday.

SFFD did a great job. Man!

  • @BigTonySF I agree.. no question there..

  • I agree with Cozmosis and firemanbrad27. Another thing to consider is perhaps the pumpers (the smaller fire engines without the big ladder on top) may have had mechanical issues arise (a breakdown) or more logically they could have likely encountered defective fire hydrants and they had to get water from a more distant source.

    Good video, thanks for posting!

  • First water on the fire is right around 6:44. You can see the steam pushing out the windows. The San Fransisco FD is an excellent department, they know what they're doing. Stop yelling at them and let them do their job.

  • The reason for long delay in putting this fire out was because there was a oven blocking the apartment door. We are calling arson...

  • Thanks for uploading.

Also +1 for cozmosis. SFFD works from the inside since these apartments are so close to each other. They want to hit the origin of the fire. Another reason why there might have been no water is cause of those inlets on those apartments. Could have been a problem with those. That is why you see the yellow hose dangling. That's where they get water from a hydrant and supply the apartment's system for the firefighters INSIDE to use.

  • @NoHomosPls your welcome.. i got it up onto youtube preety fast.. and yah i and others do sound awful yelling at fire dept as to where the water is.. but it did look bad.. but reality was the fire dept was doing their job from the inside unknown to us onlookers.. really peeps it looks bad..

  • As cozmosis stated it can be very misleading watching a fire department work. One does not know what they encountered while they were stretching hose lines inside. Was there mountains of clutter? Was something barricaded off to block progress? Did the amount of fire dictate more than 1 hose? Also, the firefighters you see standing around may be from a ladder company. Ladder companies ventilate and search, engine companies stretch hose and extinguish fire.

  • Watching the fire department work can be very misleading sometimes. In an aggressive attack, firefighters search for victims and attack the fire from the inside -- out of view of the general public.

When you see flames coming from the window, it seems logical to spray water on them. However, doing so can push the fire and toxic smoke onto the firefighters working inside.

  • @cozmosis i agree cozmosis.. it is quite evident in this video.. glad you appreciated it.
