@00thelastottoman00 You don't seem to have your facts straight. They captured an RQ-170 Sentinel made by Lockheed Martin.

The Sentinel is used for reconnaissance only. These are different in that they function with a higher level of autonomy and are designed for combat.

The phantom ray has the looks and better stability. I haven't seen it in action yet though.

From the front, these things look like UFO's. In the future we might adopt the ones we see as fiction. That would also mean that timetravelers visit using such crafts.

if in Utah a group of farmers are producing raw goats milk for sale(that being against the laws of the land today) and an unmanned plane is in the air-observing their actions.

=then a shift change, the operation is underway, the new operator is told- "terrorists are present in hostile area"like YEMEN,PAKISTAN,SUDAN etc.

-unarmed~ if someone walks out with a gun to hunt for game, then no actions can be taken remotely.

-armed~ then orders could be passed to eliminate the threat.

x-47 is for the navy and should operate in more harsh conditions, phantom ray is for USAF, so I guess it should be stealthier than X-47 though they both look great

@abnokhxious which one? both are stealthy and are intended to conduct first deep strike, I guess surviving most sophisticated air defenses present and future, but X-45 I think will be more sophisticated and therefore more costly than X-47, cause X-47 has to operate in harsh conditions, USAF has convenience of checking RCS status of aircraft every time after sortie, you can't do that on aircraft carrier, I'll still go for manned bomber, UAV has to be linked with ground station and could be jammed

If you compare the two airplanes, the Phantom Ray is clearly more operationally ready. Also, I heard from a buddy at Raytheon that the X-47B is really unstable. The first flight of the plane proved it ... you could tell how the stubby wings were not producing enough lift. Boeing's UCAV is a whole body airfoil, so it's much more rock steady. Too bad the brass chose the wrong airplane.
