Kids should have a natural ability to act, maybe you wanna try just letting her play with mum, or with a toy, and just filming that. This will produce a more natural video and give less of a Pushy Dad impression :-)

Compression will always reduce the quality. Piece of advice: Get a tripod! Even a cheap one will improve the quality of the clip and make it more watchable for folks who don't happen to know your kid. Also, try editing with your own computer's own video editing tools - if you like it, get something like Ulead Video Studio or similar. Have fun practicing!
