  • For anyone that wants to know, the soloist is Arthur Grimeaux and the ensemble is the LSO, conducted by Colin Davis.

Grimeuax mozart concerto recordings are very fine renditions. He plays no.3 and 4 also convincingly.

  • The turks beseiged Vienna and naturally Viennese were intrigued by turkish culture. "Turkish" became a style of music for composers, ersazt turkish using dissonance, percussion, blue notes etc. Haydon, Beethoven has "turkish" marches, forms as well as of course Mozart. More interesting is to think what Europe might have looked like if the Turks took Vienna and beyond. The Balkans would have extended right into Germany...I wonder what turns classical music would have taken then

  • Inspiring

  • Two words: Certified Intergalactic!

  • why turkish?

  • @96AfRa Mozart lived during the time when the Ottoman Empire, with capital in Turkey, was at the height of its power. Maybe Mozart was intrigued by the Turks.
