  • Thanks for posting these versions of my dad's song. I love Barbara, she's a good friend of my family. Unfortunately, her musicians were out of tune when they recorded this.

The Orlons harmony kicks the Marvelettes behind. I can say that, because we are all family. But they should have had a strong lead singer to drive the song. Wanda's had a lot of passion when she sung it. Just like uncle Marvin did, when he recorded it.

  • One of the recordings on the "Oh How It Hurts" Album back in the 60's. That whole album is a treasure if you could find the original in good condition. My sister has my copy I bought back in 1969 while in the service but it's scratched up pretty bad now, but to me it's still a gem. Damn the bad luck!!

  • @ra15899550 Most of the tracks I upload came from the original vinyl (LP), but these two were an exception - I got them off CD. Barbara Mason "Oh How It Hurts" cd had all of the tracks from the LP except for one song - the cd is an unauthorized cd from Germany that I found on eBay.

  • I couldn't agree with you more, Wally....Thanks again. Nina

  • good song......

  • Great version. Barbara Mason was a big star in her own right. Thanks for sharing with all.

  • You're welcome.

  • I love both versions but nothing compares to the originals. Great tribute.

  • Thanks. I also agree that The Marvelettes have THE version (there is such a sweetness and vulnerability to their interpretation)

  • very good where I find varios disks of her

  • Thank you for your comments.

  • ......Carla Thomas 1966 version on the stax label.

  • Agreed. So you think that Barbara Mason is the second great version? I'm guessing that you think Bernadette Peters is the 3rd one....am I right? If not, who is it? I'm curious.

  • There has been three GREAT versions of this tune, but the best one has to be

  • Sorry but Gladys Horton did not sing this song..Wanda Young Rogers did it was the flip of Locking Up My Heart.

  • Thanks for the correction - I have all of their recordings and simply spazzed out - it always sounded more like Gladys to me, but you're correct....various cd's I have do point to Wanda being the lead.

  • Thank you for this wonderful ORLONS

song. Thanks also for the pix--notice

SHIRLEY BRICKLEY in that last pix (top
