  • wow awesome video, now im pretty positive i can do it on my car! i have to replace inner and outer on both sides on a 03 gti!

    thanks!

  • Thanks, that was a lot of help.

  • I hope I can rent that tool at autozone or discount auto part

  • Thanks save me some money

  • thanks you guys thats awesome.thanks to you i save $140.00 on labor a firestone plus parts on the end i did my self on my 2000 bmw m roaster and the parts was only $29.00 for inner and out..thank you

  • @MOUSEBOWEN glad we could help!

  • zip ties, seriously, you couldn't find a metal hose clamp? I would never trust a couple wire ties. Pretty shoddy finish to the repair.

  • @BlazerLT the zip tie would probably outlast a hose clamp...

  • @mageac not going to happen.

  • @BlazerLT its going to happen, a hose clamp will rust out in about a year around here, a zip tie will last pretty much forever.

hell ive seen zip ties used to hold wiring and air line harnesses together on tractor trailers that were 10 + years old

even brand new ones use zip ties in places

  • The car in the vid is a civic I believe you do or at least it'll make the job much easier

  • do you need that tool for hondas?

  • good clean video good job

  • both my inner tie rod boots were broke off would that mean they need to be replaced and cause a noise up front when ur driving

  • great videos guys thank you for the help....

  • Omg you helped me a lot man thanks!!!

  • Great information guys. Thanks a bunch.

  • You guys give straight forward, practical advice. Thanks for going through the effort to post these videos.

  • Awesome video but it was to dark, need some lighting so we can see better overall very good.

  • Hi, it is difficult to get this special tool from my hardware shop. So will it alright if I tried doing this job of changing the inner tie-rod with a pipe wrench instead? I have been told it can be used but I haven't tried it yet.

  • need more light to see in tire wheels, but very nice vids, thanks

  • Great Vid mate....

  • Just ordered sway links for all 4 wheels, and inner and outer tie rods for both fronts for my 2001 mitsubuyshy jellant. (mitsubishi galant). The front driver side inner tie rod is a bit loose. Will there be any noticeable improvement in my ride quality? I should replace struts too if I want a better ride? But then I need coil springs too right, not good to keep the old springs? I got the front sway links for 30 and the rears for 20! I got both inner and outer tie rods for 36 bucks! nice?!

  • @ArcolaBridge if the old ones are worn out then yes you should notice ride improvement but more in the area of steering... be sure to get a proper alignment after replacing any suspension pieces like this. Struts if they are worn out replacing them will help the ride. you'll want to keep the stock springs if your getting stock struts. Aftermarket parts will stiffen things up and springs will lower and stiffen things too but ride quality won't typically be as good

  • could you please tell me the brand name, size of the wrench, I went to kragen and auto zone and didn't have it for a 91 accord.

  • @reyalant Can't remember the exact brand will had in the shop but i found where you can purchase a similar one the link is on our site in this videos description page..

won't let me post a link in the comments but if you go to autohowtovideos[dot]com and click on AHTV originals you can find this video there with the tool link.

  • @autohowtovideos

Thanks, I've followed your instructions and saw that the tool listed on AHTV site is a Lisle 45750 Inner Tie Rod Tool. I hope this one works on a 91Accord

  • @reyalant hope that helps that should be a kit that comes with multiple fittings for different vehicles so one of those should work

  • Great video. May want to provide more light when trying to get video of the inner areas. It was difficult to see what you were doing. Commentary explained everything very well, just would have been helpful to see it was well. Good job though.

  • do you need to grease the ball socket of the new inner tie rod, or do them come pre-greased?

  • in other words the tool they have looks like a really long socket

  • Tie Rod on my 94 Civic is gone, car shimmers/shakes violently when speeds of only 50. Bought the tie rods for both sides, but ran into a problem. Cant find the tool to remove the inner tie rod. Tried auto zone free rent tool program but they have a similar tool, which wont fit the tie rod. Where did you guys get the tool or where do you recomend i check? Thanks

  • @smithtireco go to amazon.com, type in "Inner tie rod tool"

  • @smithtireco can't remember for sure but i think on my site i posted the amazon link for that specific tool we used.

  • @smithtireco I had the same problem. I tried every auto part store and then found out Pep boys had the kit i needed. Autozone doesn't have too many adapter options, but pepboys has a kit with about five and they fit the small tie rods. 04 maxima.
