Oh how easy it is to dismiss other belief systems with arguments that can be used to dismiss your own. Eckankar is a compilation of other belief systems...Christianity is a compilation of other belief systems.. Both have been considered cults. Both have been dismissed by the establishment..(christianity certainly was in its early years) Both have evolved over the years. Much is made up about both of them. They both are supported by confirmation bias. Miracles, revelations, spirit, etc....

There's no point "Eckankar vs Christianity" arguments anyway. Walk your path and let the other guy walk his. But this show was more about "Brooke vs non-Christians" and "Brooke vs what he can't understand". I have nothing invested in Gross, but it looks like he was there to have a dialogue about spiritual concepts and ended up having to answre to Brookes about petty org stuff. It's not like Christianity hasn't had politics and power plays among allegedly "infallible" leaders.

@whales Yeah he did seem very hostile. Alot of Christians act this way and it really puts them in a bad light. I don't think that of Brooke because Iv'e know Christians like this who have been hurt, and decieved, and got outta something that almost ruined their lives and they haven't "let go of it" so they still harbor resentment towards anything not resembling what they now believe and know ito be the truth.

Respect for the ECK man coming to be questioned and handling himself calmly; although as hostile as Brook may have been I beleive Ankeberg, and Brook gave the guy something to think about?...If you ignore the messangers and listen to the message, this religion could be dangerous to those who don't know the truth. The bible smoked "ECK" right outta the water if you wanted to do a comparison, Yet there are some good things about the "philosophy" of ECK that can be useful :)

The guy on the left is RIGHT to be Christian. Jesus is God, but the guy on the right is just decieved. But OBE in and of itself is NOT wrong. Jesus taught these things, you need to read the bible and ask God to teach the truth. Most all the prophets experianced out of body travel!! Its a thin line between truth and deception. You posit a view of Heaven that is palpable, inclusive and feels good, but what if its not true? You're suggesting that all rivers flow to the ocean, but some of these belief systems have mutually exclusive ideas about what heaven is in actuality. So if Im to accept your statement as fact then I have to throw out the notion that truth by its very nature is exclusive. If I do that then I have no basis on which to evaluate anything. Can you tell me how you know they all lead back to heaven?

I think she's saying that God is interpreted uniquely by each person or even better, each soul. And with whatever anyone perceives God is and what they follow/study, and what they think life is about...that leads one to the road of understanding truly what their life is and what it is about... In other words, spirituality isn't taught, it's caught.

i believe that at the core of our being we are loving, compassionate and creative beings. so why should we fear following our hearts instead of looking for some 'master' to tell us what 'God' wants?

The bearded dude asks, "Where does evil come from?" Well, in the Old Testament for Christians, (although most don't know it) it states, " I the Lord make peace and CREATE EVIL." Isaiah 45:7. Most modern translations change evil to calamity or something else. It just doesn't fit their theology that God is the only creator. If God is the only creator, then there are only two choices: 1. God made evil OR 2. there is a separate creator apart from God such as the devil.

Christianity in its infancy was also considered to be wacky...by the mainstream. It was also considered dangerous.

It proved to be extremely dangerous.

So is Eckankar as dangerous as christianity? I don't think they will be going on any crusades anytime soon.... nor begin an inquisition.....or massacre any offshoots.

Christianity comes from the teachings of Jesus and does not promote killing and inquisitions. Many can claim to be christian but are not hence the Upload of the many videos on my play list to prove this.

Eckankar is dangerous in the Light of Christians teachings. Dangerous for the soul and the Mind. Beyond the strong Opinion of both sides is a Power that Moves people.

I think that Eckankar and Christianity are both wacko but that Eck isn't any more dangerous than christianity. The idea of eternal damnation without any hope of redemption for all eternity is one of the most horrible and 'evil' ideas ever imagined.

Eckankar doesn't threaten any soul with eternal damnation. They believe in karma and reincarnation. In order to resolve karmic problems that you might still have left in the physical plane, you need to be reborn, untill you can move on and be one with the holy spirit. "Man is not made for hell fire, but to co-work with God. We say, what you sow you will reap". From an Eck song.

However, most religions do feed off of people fear in order to make them submit to their teachings. It's disgusting.

@SKYSPLASH You do not have to die to know 'The Truth' . One can achieve this when alive by connection to the Light and Sound of God and Holy Spirit via the Spiritual Exercises of EK. Jesus was a Jew and taught some of the Law -he was also an Initiate of the Mystery School in Tibet. There is doubt as to whether he was crucified or Simon of Cyrene. God in Itself sent forth his priesthood at the beginning of time on earth-the priesthood is known as the Knights of the Vairagi and for many intervals of time on earth this priesthood was visible. When corruption threatened its ranks the Knights withdrew . Again the Priesthood is becoming visible on earth. Many of us have been with the Masters and the teachings in the dream state or in astral projection. No crusades or inquisitions.

If Gross says that this god was Jehovah as well as other gods, you have to aknowledge this yes? If so, you must realize that the Bible, given to the world by Jehovah Himself, should be considered truth.

Once you do this, you can realize that this inner guidance (your emotions, your heart) has been spoken of in the Bible. But the Bible says that we should not follow our hearts (your inner guidance), because nobody knows their hearts.
