Is this the 500 horsepower whipple kit, or the 550 horsepower kit? Mines got the 500 kit and hasn't been put on a dyno before. This is why I'm asking you this. Thanks.
It is running at the stock 10 PSI provided by Whipple.
The internals are 100% bone stock.
The key to performance and longevity with this setup is the tune.
Whipple collaborated with Ford Racing and developed an excellent tune that is biased toward the safe side. That's just fine with me since the performance is superb and I'm not interested getting a few more ponies out of it at the risk and expense of grenading my engine.
They say that on our cars, 450rwhp even with a safe tune is risky...you are at 487rwhp...you want want some forged parts even if the tune is safe...just my 2 cents
so when ya ganna buy another whipple from us.. we here @ whipple love the video.. thanks and we hope ur enjoying ur whipple.. We here at whippe love your video show us more.. Thanks
well the graphs may say one thing but on that first pull thats rev limiter all the way... nice car though... i agree maybe some black powder coated Ford GT wheels??? saw those on a comp. orange 04 cobra looked sick as hell.
decent numbers... did these guys have ANY idea what they were doing? first they didnt put the load on the dyno... ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?! They were bangin ur rev limiter on every pull... NOT something you want from the guy thats going to be playing with your PCM to do.. just wondering what shop this was so i dont ever take my cobra there.
Yeah - the first pull was kind of unsettling. It was a company that came down from NJ to do the dyno pulls at the College Park Tuning meet. However, if you listen carefully, it sounds like they let off the throttle just before the RPM limiter kicks in. The graphs indicate the pulls went to about 6100-6200 RPM. The RPM limit is still at the stock setting.

Nice car by the way.

Was this with the stock whipple tune or a custom dyno tune? What was the outside temp and what other mods do you have?
mooosestang 4 years ago
It is the stock whipple tune - no modifications.
The tune is excellent and runs with a very safe (but rich) A/F ratio.

Thanks for the nice commments. Love the car -- wheels are coming soon :-)
The first pull was not actually a "pull" - as there was no load on the dyno. Yes, you are correct it did hit the rev-limiter hard -- not good.

Kinda dissappointed in the sound.....guess I'm used to hearing whippled Cobras and lightnings. Pretty good numbers though.
