As Ilunnas said, Merry got his Short-Sword in Barrow Hills, the "dagger" was made in Angmar (I beleive)to fight the Nazgul when the Witch-King was still in control of it. So when Merry stabbed him in his knee, the Witch-King was vulnerable to normal swords, bows, etc. Thus allowing Eowyn to kill him =/

The point that Tolkien emphasized was that for hundreds of years it was said that 'no man' could kill the witchking. It's part of the book.

Actually there's the scene where aragorn finds her with a stashed sword and she explains how she has had battle training. She was much more warrior than princess in the book. Too bad PJ didn't stick to the book and emphasize that but then again he didn't include tom bombadil and a few other sorta key parts of the story. also, since for hundreds of years in LOTR lore, no man could kill a nazgul it makes perfect sense that a woman can. coulda been either arwen or eowyn, take your pick.

Ya, and I think part of the reason for that is because the Nazgul are an extension of the power of the One Ring. Thus, they are immune to most normal attacks unless the One Ring is destroyed.

Pippin stabs the Witch King with the dagger Tom Bombadil gave him in the first book, which weakens him enough to have Eowyn lay the final blow. And, about Glorfindel's prophecy, (no man will kill him) Eowyn is a woman, and that is what was meant. In fact, this battle is what got Eowyn her nickname, "Lady of the Shield Arm," because the Witch King broke her arm in the battle. Read the books before you make a moron of yourself. Thank you.

Morgoth WAS the most powerful creature in Middle-Earth. He gave his power to his servants, and when his servants were killed one by one, so was his power gone. That's why Eonwe was able to beat and chain him.

However, Morgoth IS the shit, and always shall be. All the other bad guys speak in his name and are just "lieutenant of Morgoth", "balrog of Morgoth" etc etc.
