  • This is a great routine, but I understand what people mean when they think that Ballroom Professionals get too far away from the original dances sometimes. They start all looking the same and you can't tell what kind of dance it is, because they don't follow the rules of the dance they are dancing. I am a dancer and I think it takes more skill to keep the timing of the dance and the basic steps in the dance and work the lifts, dips, etc. around them. It keeps the dance recognizable.

  • @BobBelson-I get a kick out of MORONS like yourself who confuse " theater arts dancing" with real dancing !!! To call these two " world hustle champions " is an affront to all the dancers who perform this dance with grace, poise and elegance without having to resort to acrobatics. Re-read my posts again and get your terminology straight....CLOWN !!!

  • perfect !

  • sono dei grandi i migliori

  • perfect !

  • They were good dancers, but I saw almost no hustle. And I understand that it's normal for classic routines to have a lot of syncopations but this took it too far imho. Not only was there a lack of recognizable basic patterns but the character of the dance was also missing, I felt it resembled International Cha more than hustle.

  • @FormerTVAddict The first section is all rumba. It wasn't until 1:11 that she did an "&1" for the first time, then not again until 1:32, and her first real basic &1 2 3 didn't happen until 1:42 (which he syncopated), then they finally did their first real hustle pattern, the diamond, at 1:45. That is half way through the routine. Then more non-hustle syncopations and then a few more basics starting at 2:15.

  • The music used for this dance was to harsh, when a hustle is a romance that flows like water.

  • What? Their technique sucks and there is no entertainment in this performance.

  • @gnorphxxx You can do better?

  • hmm, I'm looking at different videos of these guys, trying to find something to like... and besides some cool tricks, I hate their dancing. It's just a bunch of moves from latin ballroom dancing, and done poorly compared to people who actually specialize in that style. I'm sad that the spirit of hustle is dying, would be nice to keep it as more of a night club style dance, with a distinct feel from latin

  • @ PURRTHERFORD....We have "world dance champions in dancesport " in our club. Nobody ever pays any attention to them because they syncopated the crap out of the dance they are doing, just like the couple here. Obviously, you didn't get , or for that matter understand, "grace , poise and elegance" on the dance floor.

. I do ballroom dancing as well and while I get compliments on my dancing , nobody ever compliments the "world champions " !!!!

  • I don't think previous poster knows good Hustle when see it. Maybe a troll? I'm from Ballroom realm, but started out dancing in Hustle era. Kelvin and Lori are excellent. My 2c.

  • BTW...being able to execute super difficult acrobatic moves does not make you a great dancer...grace, poise , elegance and the couple's chemistry on the dance floor is what truly counts. Please post a video of yourselves dancing in a social setting. I would love to see that.

  • Ever consider working in a circus ....they are always looking for acrobats !!

On the scale of 1-10 you get 5 for excellent execution of acrobatic moves which have nothing to do with dancing hustle. I turned the audio off and couldn't tell what dance you were dancing !!!!! World class..... syncopated.....NOTHING !

  • @zxcvbnrebus How about the hesitations? Oh maybe you don't know what that is.

  • @zxcvbnrebus -I get a kick out of you idiots that cant make a distinction between theater arts dance (Lifts tricks & dips allowed) and Just Hustle divisions (that allow the EASIER versions of the dance that you probably are cabable of doing. I will bet you REALLY DO- But the fact is you likely have zero upper body strength or athletic skills to perform on this level- so you r a hater that dismisses superior skill to your own with sh#t talk. Get to the gym. Your an out of shape NOTHING!

  • OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Freaking AMAZING!!!!!

  • Let's start a campaign to get Kelvin and Lori Ann on dancing with the stars demonstrating modern hustle.

  • luv this style of dance....AWESOME!!!!!...thanks!

  • Super dance !!!

  • Watch popular TVShows at W W W . TV-Vide . NET

  • If there are any hustledancer out there I would love to communicate. I now reside in Tucson Arizona where I seem to be the only one dancing and teaching new york style hustle. My students just love this dance! Lori Ann and her Partner Kelvin are truly fantastic entertainers!

  • Just discovered this routine and as one of the original hustledancers out of nyc circa 1970-1979 I can say that this is an absolutely incredible theatre arts hustle!

I'm glad to see that this dance lives on as a legacy to what we original street dancers put on the map back in the early70's. While I'm no longer living in the big apple I pine for those days when hustle reined as the supreme dance. What was so wonderful was that all ethnicities, cultures and lifestyles helped to create hustle.

  • What song is this?

  • Go it. Thanks.... Someone asked below. Thanks.

  • I never get tired of watching this routine. Lori Ann's teaching advanced Hustle at Stepping Out in NY...stop by and take her class! It's lots of fun.

  • Do you have a copy of this routine from the viewpoint of the front?

  • If I did, I would post it. :)

  • Every time I see this video, my eyes water with emotion. It is such a beautiful dance. Long live the Hustle! It's been a long time since "Rouge e Blanc" "Boomamako" and "Cork & Bottle"

    Keep this dance alive!!!

  • Hustle evolved over time.

  • thank you, Selma1

  • Can someone tell me the name and version of this song?

  • "Nowhere" by Aquanote.

  • alkh3myst

With all due respect, these two are unbelievable dancers - they certainly equal Robert and Deborah whom I have great respect esp. for the later. These people know how to dance - and anyone who appreciates the skill it takes to do what they do will not laugh - but stand back and fully receive the blessing that is here.

    Peace,

    My Friend

    Aner

  • These "World Champions" would have gotten laughed out of any Brooklyn block party in 1974. Hustle is all about the intricacy of turn combinations; eventually you get into a state of flow, and the dance does itself. This is what always happens when Black and Latino culture gets "whitewashed".

  • Your what happens when a semi educated loudmouth utilizes "whitewashed" sophisticated technology. I remember you at the Brooklyn block party in 74 with the Ripple in the paper bag ; D

  • I may be only semi-educated, but I am fully aware that in written American English, "semi-educated" requires a hyphen. Also, your first sentence seems rather incoherent; it would probably be best if you consulted Strunk and White's "The Elements of Style". This way, you won't flag yourself as being UNeducated.

    "I'm alkh3myst, and I approved this message."

  • Your use of the word "whitewashed" in the context you did defines what you are-

At present there is a black president, a white heavyweight boxing champion and 7'0 "Asian stuffing hoops in the NBA . Deal with it . Ill look up Strunk- You look up the differences between Classic Hustle and JUST hustle divisions when critiquing these two or any other Hustle dancers- past or present

  • @alkh3myst So Denny Terrio isn't qualified to teach hustle?

  • BEAUTIFUL! You guys look so polished!

  • Holy crap those two can dance.

  • this routine has the largest collection of tricks, lifts, turns, pose from one single dance routine. Excellent latin dance technique, very well executed and structured. However, this performance is so far and away from a regular hustle dancer that I can't really connect to them and be touched...

  • @donhsi Exactly. This is just a generic Latin dance routine.

  • Lorianne is excellence in motion...absolute perfection!

  • This video is great! I can't wait for the hustle night at Lincoln Center's Midsummer Night Swing! Check out my homepage for more information!

  • They use a lot of latin dance technique

  • It´s excellent video!!. I´m dance hustle and american dance. great teacher´s, but it´s not real hustle for de 1980.

  • Loved it!

  • Don't see any fun in this dance. Technically very good but it misses the energy from the hustle dance.

From looking at their arm movements I would have guessed they danced an international latin dance.

  • wonderful video.. reminds me of NY style hustle.. loved it :)

do you know the name of this song perhaps??

  • Song is: Nowhere by: Aquanote. Hed Kandi lable

  • for me it's ballet and not hustle ;)

  • real good

  • No, not amazing hustle, this is just a show with acrobatic elements, not a real dance any more...

  • What do you know?

  • I agree. It's technically perfect, but lacks soul.

  • It is a dance show since its done on dance timing with acrobatic elements. Since they use Hustle music and incorporate some Hustle steps- it also qualifies as a HUSTLE DANCE SHOW. Watch these two do a "JUST HUSTLE" division which is a "LEAD AND FOLLOW" division competition . I think you will see more of what u seem to qualify as " real dance". IMO they are equally proficient at pure hustle steps without the acrobatics.

  • It's a good theater arts performance but personally I prefer to see the real dance.

  • Does nayone know the name of that song?

  • Song is: Nowhere; by: Aquanote.

  • Good technique, but too choerographed -- not enough lead-and-follow

  • Not supposed to be L @ F - Thats a different division- The non choreographed lead and follow divisions are called "Just Hustle"- These two compete in that division also. I saw them in New Orleans recently when they won the "Triple Threat Dance Challenge-" Which was a lead and follow only- Hustle, Swing, and Salsa Contest. The routine here is Open Theater Arts Division which is choreographed division.

  • Phenomenal performance. Lorianne Greenhouse is the diva of Hustle. Ive seen these two live. They can do other Latin and Smooth styles as well as dance Hustle Routines as shown here- This type of Hustle performance in my opinion sets the bar for theater arts Hustle in General They epitomize clean professional all around top performers and competitors :)

  • THIS is amazing hustle.
