Organic Chem was horrible... Only got an A because I read and memorized the book.
And going to an Ivy to go to med school is a waste of time. I went to a well ranking non Ivy undergrad and got into med schools with a fraction of the undergrad debt. If anything, med students are more hell bent on sabotage than undergraduate premed students because of the fight to get into a specialty. For some reason, it's always the Asians who want everyone in their class to fail (sad but true)
I wish my high school counselor had been this honest with me - I went to a top school and everything this guy said came true. I'd give anything to go back and go to a state school.
WUAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJJAJAJAJAJAJJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJJAJA this is hilariouse the good old story that harvard and ano other ivy league school is hard to enter is BULLSHIT! academics can be average and you may get in ... the hard point in harvard is not the admission is the pay...
Man I wish I had a guidance counselor like this when I was in high school. If I had gotten a reality check like this back in high school, I would already be in Med school. I wouldn't have wasted 2 years of my life majoring in English at a no-name private school.
Instead, I got an idiot who told me "All your dreams will come true!" I was stupid at 17. How was I supposed to know anything about how the world worked?
@Sumwun23 You could've been an underwater basket-weaving major and still got into medical school. It doesn't matter what your major is, just so long as you take the pre-requisites needed for medical school. Being an English major should not have precluded you from that. Sorry to say, but you did it wrong. And it cost you two years of your life.
@foreal1992 It all depends on the person's background, but I did not go to Yale. Intro Physics to me was not exactly a cake walk, but it was a lot easier that Electrodynamics and Classical Mechanics which were very hard for me.
This girl got a 1670 on her SAT and her counselor isn't laughing at her for applying to Harvard? How is she described in the description as a bright student? Give me a break...
The hardest part of an Ivy League is getting in. The schools spend so much on tutoring and extra assistance that the students feel assured that they can handle the work.
@HarvardAlumnus My friend has a daughter who graduated 1st in her class and is now at Yale. She came in thinking she wanted to major in Physics and quickly changed her major to history. From what I heard, the intro Physics course at Yale strikes me as much harder than what you would find at a state school and I went to Penn State.
@Haseeb2 Yeah, intro to physics courses are usually made to weed out the people that don't have a deep striving for the subject (i.e. they're made much harder than necessary to weed out those with not enough passion)

@assassin465 undergrad is meaningless... Go to whichever school is cheaper so you're not bogged down with debt.

implying harvard has grade deflation... ha.
