I wonder if Egalax's driver already supports this (or ever will). Actually I hope it will because I'm getting a device with an Egalax touchscreen soon - most likely resistive.

Can this be applied to current resistive touch screens? like the Toshiba TG01 and hd touch?

Yes it can, ALTHOUGH the screen can support it, new software would need to be developed, Perhaps in the case of the HD Touch, being a phone, may have some firmware update, or maybe some custom firmware that supports multitouch commands, Although even as a demo it runs pretty smoothly
