If there was a Top 100 list, the movie "Equilibrium" should be on there somewhere. Christian Bale lives in a world where emotion is illegal and he's as intense as ever. He hunts down "sense offenders" and shoots the everlasting fuck out of every one of em. It's a ridiculous movie and far from realistic so it's far from perfect, but it's an entertaining post-Matrix shootout. It's got the black robes and crazy gunfire (without the bullet time slowdown of the Matrix). Check it out

Lots of good choices, but the only way I can fathom Shoot 'Em Up itself not being on this list is that it's a personal one. Personally, it'd be near the top of mine. I love how it skewers, parodies, cartoonifies and ridiculizes every possible gun cliche imaginable. It's pure eye-popping lunacy. And there are multiple carrot-related homicides. MULTIPLE CARROT-RELATED HOMICIDES, MAN!!!

Shoot Em Up with Clive Owen is very entertaining. Doesn't take itself or the genre serious at all and has oneliners that are cornier than most of the 80s. It was a straight to DVD release but well worth a look.

The guitar case weapons in Desperado aren't that ridiculous. There's, for example, submachineguns afixed in a suitcase, you fire it by pressing a button on the handle that's conected to the trigger, and the bulles go thru a hole drilled on the case.
