i read tuesdays with morry, a few years ago for college and i was very emotional. ive also been meaning to read skinny bitch, but i got pregnant & i have been reading pregnancy /baby books. i was going to read it right before i got pregnant cause i was in the best shape ever
I read just one of Paulo Coelho called 'Eleven Minutes'. After I read the first chapter I realised that the book was not meant for teens like me....... so whenever I choose Paulo Coelho's books I'm very careful!
I read The Alchemist. You should read The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan. Are you a virgin lool? You seem like a really good girl. Im not saying girls who aren't virgins are bad but ya idk i cant tell. This came to mind when you talked about Conversations with God.
What's your thoughts on the book "Doing the Imopssible" by Bet-David? I'm sure you've read it but I'm curious about your feedback. It's doing very well on reviews but I want to hear yours.
Amazing, the two of you - from casual hair extensions and fashion to intensely personal, mature and moving stories on nose surgery and philosophical books. Seems to me not only have you found and earned yourselves an audience, but also that, in turn, their loyalty has lifted you up to become (even) better people with more depth yourselves. Pretty impressive to watch. Chapeau!
thank you for your book recommendation i really want to read a book for my new year resolution and thanks to u now i knw what kind of book to look for, thanks so much and have a bless new year ....;)
all of these quick reviews sound so inspiring and i definitely want to pick some of these up now....but, would you recommend "mastery of love" to someone who has never been in love/had a breakup/come anywhere near romantic relationships? haha sounds pathetic but im 21 and fit that criteria of never having had a boyfriend or anything.,,would you still recommend it or should i wait til i do?
Hi, Leyla. You've recommended Conversations with God Book 3. Should I read 1 and 2 book before reading this one (3)? Or it's like independent books about independent 'things'? Sorry for my English. I hope you will understand what I am talking about.
I absolutely recommend the "Vanity Fair" by William Makepeace Thackeray. Its a must-read for every girl! И "Московскую сагу" Василия Аксенова (3 тома) - сум
Leyla this is such a wonderful video, thank you. I myself follow a similar path and I can say I am very excited to read these amazing novels during the holiday. If you would like to read a similar book, Yoga Of The Heart by Alice Christensen is incredible. x
I have some recommendations - I know that you will love this one. Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse. Also Scarlet Feather by Joan Grant, Life on the other side by Sylvia Browne and Unconditional life by Deepak Chopra.
Hi mimi and leyla! I just wanted to say I wrote down some of your favorite books that you both mentioned in your videos. I wrote down 5 of them! I am on amazon right now and im going to get them! I am going to my home country Belarus on november 25th and I will read them ! I cant wait! Thank you girls!
Oh my goodness youre from azerbaijan??? Im from armenia and my mom is from azerbaijan! I got so excited when i realized :) also i love alchemist n tuesdays w morrie o cant wait to read wat uve recomended!!
List of the books Leyla mentions here: By Neale Donald Walsh: - Conversations with God book 3 By Don Miguel Ruiz : - The four agreements - Mastery of love - Voice of knowledge By Eckhart Tolle: - A new earth: Awakening to your life´s purpose - The power of now By Angelina Hard: - The teaching of little crow the journey of the soul By Mitch Albom: - Tuesdays with Morrie By Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin: - Skinny bitch
Thank you very much Leyla and Mimi for recommending the book, Mastery of Love- Don Miguel Ruiz. It is an eye opening book and it made me realised so much about love! :)
After watching this I bought The Alchemist and I absolutely LVOE IT! It's favourite book now, and it is teaching me so much! Thank you sooo much for recommending it!
Hey, I recommend you guys read "Outliers: The Story of Success" by Malcolm Gladwell. You learn about how people succeed based on their upbringing, culture, time period that they were born, and even birth months. It's really interesting.
Hi Leyla, love the video and suggestions! I just found you guys today and I can't stop watching all of the videos - where have I been?! :) I would like to know where you purchased your shirt and necklace! Simple but stylish, love it! Also do you have a tutorial for your hair? (same look as video)...thanks so much! xoxo
Leyla if you haven't watched the movie "Earthlings" I highly recommend it! Along the same lines as Skinny Bitch but it may open your eyes even more to poor treatment of animals by humans in every aspect. Everyone should be educated on this subject matter.
The Ok...I just finished reading The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan...highly recommend it, it is from a journalist perspective but it is still highly informative for those that are interested in the overall "green/organic movement."
hey leyla, you are truly beautiful and i just purchased the book "mastery of love" today on chapters.ca so i'm really looking forward to reading it instead of my school textbooks which i should be doing ;) LOL
Leyla, could you and Mimi make a video about maybe showing or talking about meatless meals that you eat. I recently went 3 weeks without eating any meat except fish but caved a couple days ago because I felt like I didn't know what to eat! I also feel like it's too hard. If you guys made a video talking about why you stopped eating meat and how you dealt with the tempation (if you had any), it would help me sooo much!
wow, your book choices are inspiring me to read more profound books now! thank you for this video. now only if i had time to sit down and read for leisure.. :(
Enjoy watching all your videos and thanks for sharing. my book recommendation will be The Social Animal : The Hidden Sources of Love, Character and Achievement by David Brooks
Thank you so much for recommending the book "The Mastery of Love' after breaking up it was very hard to love again and to be in a relationship with someone but now I understood that it is more important to love yourself and when you love yourself you are not afraid to be alone. Thank you so much you are an amazing person if it wasn't of you I would have never read this book. I think everyone should read this book
Leyla, I recently just went through a huge breakup and had been crying for days straight when I remembered watching this video and you mentioning a book that helped you through a breakup. I purchased the book The Mastery of Love and it has changed my life. I am SO thankful for you, this book helped me realize that it what happend wasn't my fault and helped me get out of my deep depression. Leyla&Mimi, you have changed my life and I can't thank you enough. I love you girls with all my <3 , Liz
@lalalizzy10 Wow, Liz.. you made me tear up.. I'm so happy to hear that the book has changed your life already!! This makes me really happy! <3 Hang in there & invest time in learning about yourself and learning self-love :)
Leyla I had to come and tell you that I purchased The Mastery of Love today and I'm so excited to start reading it!! I can't wait to see how it impacts my life. Hope all is good. Thank you for your tips and advice. You and Mimi are inspiring! xoxo
I really want to read Conservations with God now! That book sounds really interesting. Why haven't I heard about this book before? LOL I love it how you and your sister and I have the same taste in books. I agree with you in saying you want to take something with you when you read a book. I am all about books leaving an impression on me by learning something from them.
Hei, thank you so much for these recommendations! I wanted to ask about the 'Conversations with God' books. You recommended book no.3, but there are 2 more. Do you need to read the first two books to understand what the 3rd book is about? Have you read book 1 and 2? if you have, would you recommend them too? It would be really helpful if you answered!
@dzhii1 I haven't read the first 2, but I want to.. Book 3 is just a complete summery of the first two I think, but I would still recommend reading them as well :)
Thank you thank you !!! i was asking this os much! I loved Mimi's books overbiew and wante dto se yours! you of course have to reupdate this time by time! thank you <3 by the way my recoomedndtions would be Dale Carnegie! this helped me a lot! eat pray love as well!
Thank you thank you !!! i was asking this os much! I loved Mimi's books overbiew and wante dto se yours! you of course have to reupdate this time by time! thank you <3
Thanks Loads My Dear Leyla :) I truly feel we are so similar :) Please read Robin Sharma's series of Books - Starting with 'The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari' & 'Family Wisdow' --- These above books have literally shaped me into who I'm today :)
God Bless you always ... Luv you Tons ... ReNu ... xx
what kind of laptop would you recommend for university, i have heard that the apple mac pro is the best? but then what about apple air (the latest one) :(
Im 19, made bad choices but I'm starting to change my life now finishing my school, looking for a job, I quit smoking, I'm starting to be healthier. As of now, I'm always unhappy, I don't seem to appriciate things when I know I should.. and I know this is wrong but that's why I want to change! I'm lazy and negitive all the time.. I want to be happier, appriciate everything, and I want to change my life for the positive!
My dad told me the same think when i read Eckhart Tolle...to read it in chapters because it is a lot to take in :) You really do have to be ready to read his books.
This video is sparking my curiosity... I've always been drawn to mysteries/fantasy books.and I personally get a lot of satisfaction from those type of books. I really enjoy them, but I've never thought of reading those "life guide-line" -ish books. I'm at a very good point in my life I think, i've just graduated highschool, married, have an adorable pet, and am currently taking a year off for school...but there's something that's off balance & I feel its because of lack or religion.
Great books. The Alchemist is my all time fav book. I haven't seen it with that cover though.. Very cool. About 10 years ago when I was working at a mall, the old custodian that would stop in to chat gave me The Four Agreements.. I think of him every time I see it. Loved that book as well. The author (Don Miguel Ruiz) lives near me. I will read The Power of Now.. Looks interesting. Thank you Leyla!
@digitalteacup That's so cool! :) If you ever run into him, will you please express my gratitude for all of his hard work to spread wonderful messages ;)
I think we both have similiar taste in books! I've read a few of those and plan on reading the ones you recommended that I havent read yet! How often do you read? I feel like there are so many great books out there but I rarely find the time to read. One of my goals this coming year is to read a book a week!
The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan also discusses factory farms and what's actually in your food at the grocery store. It definitely made me stop eating fast food. Also, Leyla, you are glowing in this video! Absolutely gorgeous.
Leyla thank you. I've been going through some rough times and I just didnt understand why things happened. When you said Conversations with God changed your life and went and got Conversations with Good Book 1 and Im still in chapter one but it feels like so many questions have been answered. I feel like it was fate. Thank you so much and sorry if a spelled something wrong im from guatemala. love you!
my book wishlist just got so much bigger! thanks for the recommendations... Skinny Bitch is full of great information but it's a big over-dramatic as well, in some aspects. shock therapy, I guess. I have become vegetarian because of it too, though! the animal chapter was heart-wrenching.
another recommendations: books by Barbara de Angelis - Secrets about men every woman should know; and What women want men to know :) it's interesting to read both perspectives and again, it helped me so much understand the way of love from the guys' point of view and I deff feel that I am a better girlfriend now :) again, more tolerant and intuitive and less stressed and definitely more confident and loving and caring which made me happier and my boyfriends since then as well :)
my recommendations: I highly recommend books by John Gray, I don't remember the titles (and less in English as I read them in Czech) but basically they are about men and women, our differences and similarities and it's based on the idea that "men are from Mars, women are from Venus" and it was just an amazing read! it helped me so much and since then what I hated in men before I appreciate now and a lot:) it definitely improved my relationships and made me more tolerant & loving and caring.. :)
I'm so excited to purchase new books. I'm really interested in these you talked about! I'm going through some hard situations in my life and I'm looking foward to reading new, empowering books. I loved yours and Mimi's picks. I'll let you know which ones I get and how they turned out for me! Hope you have a great weekend. xoxo P.S The alchemist is my all time favorite too :)
thank you so much, girls. you both are trying so hard on making life and world better. i'm truly, deeply respect you and what you're doing. i've already said, but i'll repeat again: you are AMAZING people! and let God (or whatever you call Him) bless you
Leyla, amazing! I'm actually writing this comment before watching the video (but I'm gonna do that right after finishing this!!) this is exactly what I wish you would do one day, I think you have a very similar view on life like me and I also looove reading so I'm incredibly curious about your fave books!!!! thank you for putting it all together, xoxo
Wow! I was looking for that book! (Conversations with God) Really good video and tips! I will definitely put them in my to read list! :-))) Thank you!
yesss! thank you :) you always seem really calm and collected and strong. i will definitely have to get a few of those. i need to improve a little in the calm and strong areas.
You are so sweet leyla :) Your skin is glowing and your hair is growing very fast!! You are so naturally beautiful!! God gave you everything! :) I wish I had the same too....
You're giving so much credit to authors like Eckhart Tolle as if he were your God, saying that he completely changed your life and all. Why don't you consider reading the Bible or Quran instead? They're filled with much more wisdom than any other human being could give you.
You seem like a very sweet person, very kind when you speak. I would recommend giving the Quran a read. I know it scares many people this word but myself I was challenged to read it and it gave me a different outlook on life. Dont listen to the media just give it a try it wont hurt. I promise you wont regret it.
So a documentary I recommend to you is called "Food Inc." If you liked skinny bitch, this basically is a documentary that will just give you visuals to what you read. It's one thing to read about it but when you see it, whats really going on, it kinda floors you.
No offense, everyone has their own views and I respect that. But I personally do not think the "Skinny Bitch" book is worth reading. Before you go ahead and buy this book, read Amazon reviews first to see what you're in for. The "facts" in this book are not actually very well-researched. Most sources are websites or other books. Which doesn't help much with the credibility of their claims. I also found the "fruit only" breakfast advice weird, because a lot of studies say otherwise...
@julienesslove I agree that the food industry is definitely messed up regarding animal treatment and etc. There is some good points made but most of the stuff we already know or could find in a better source.
This video made me respect you even more. I am so impressed with your book choices (i read a fair few of them). The Alchemist is still my top favourite, after reading it, the sunrise suddenly seems so much more beautiful.
I love love love Eckhart Tolle's books. I would recommend them to anyone, totally life changing! they really do explain so much. I listened to A New Earth and The Power of Now on cd in my car and those were great.
Will have to try some of the other books you liked. Thanks for the video!
I really love historical romances and fantasy novels the most but i wrote down the one from neale donald to add to my book wishlist :) thanks for sharing your favorites!
Hi leyla! Is there any way that you could write out the titles of the book so I can look them up online? Thank you:)

It would be really helpful if you answered!
dzhii1 5 months ago
@dzhii1 I haven't read the first 2, but I want to.. Book 3 is just a complete summery of the first two I think, but I would still recommend reading them as well :)

As of now, I'm always unhappy, I don't seem to appriciate things when I know I should.. and I know this is wrong but that's why I want to change! I'm lazy and negitive all the time.. I want to be happier, appriciate everything, and I want to change my life for the positive!

I feel like there are so many great books out there but I rarely find the time to read. One of my goals this coming year is to read a book a week!

Hi Leyla, have you read Totto-chan: The Little Girl at the Window?
MsCeeElle 5 months ago

You're giving so much credit to authors like Eckhart Tolle as if he were your God, saying that he completely changed your life and all. Why don't you consider reading the Bible or Quran instead? They're filled with much more wisdom than any other human being could give you.
josiejss 5 months ago 2
Hi Leyla,
You seem like a very sweet person, very kind when you speak. I would recommend giving the Quran a read. I know it scares many people this word but myself I was challenged to read it and it gave me a different outlook on life. Dont listen to the media just give it a try it wont hurt. I promise you wont regret it.
Take care:)

So a documentary I recommend to you is called "Food Inc." If you liked skinny bitch, this basically is a documentary that will just give you visuals to what you read. It's one thing to read about it but when you see it, whats really going on, it kinda floors you.
ShelbyTrosclair 5 months ago
@ShelbyTrosclair Oh yeah.. I've seen it.. Very sad & extremely eye-opening

since you talked about Skinny Bitch, I think you'd like the documentary 'Food, Inc'. If you have netflix, it's available for instant play :)

Can you please make the list of all your bookss..I want to read so many ! Thanks.
LeandraR24 5 months ago 2
No offense, everyone has their own views and I respect that. But I personally do not think the "Skinny Bitch" book is worth reading. Before you go ahead and buy this book, read Amazon reviews first to see what you're in for. The "facts" in this book are not actually very well-researched. Most sources are websites or other books. Which doesn't help much with the credibility of their claims. I also found the "fruit only" breakfast advice weird, because a lot of studies say otherwise...
julienesslove 5 months ago
@julienesslove I agree that the food industry is definitely messed up regarding animal treatment and etc. There is some good points made but most of the stuff we already know or could find in a better source.
julienesslove 5 months ago
This video made me respect you even more. I am so impressed with your book choices (i read a fair few of them). The Alchemist is still my top favourite, after reading it, the sunrise suddenly seems so much more beautiful.

I love love love Eckhart Tolle's books. I would recommend them to anyone, totally life changing! they really do explain so much. I listened to A New Earth and The Power of Now on cd in my car and those were great.
Will have to try some of the other books you liked. Thanks for the video!
