Take me, for example. I'm Scottish, and I don't mind the occasional bad impersonation of the accent or jokes about kilts, haggis, bagpipes and what-have-you, but if I feel it's an attempt to make a fool of me rather than just a laugh, I start to get annoyed. There will be other Scottish people who'd get pissed off instantly, and others who don't care at all.
