  • karaoke sapatti :)

  • No matter what sub-genre of that is heavy metal today will ever come close to what black sabbath was and are today. Ever.

  • They played full version with Tony Martin on vocals. It can be found on 1994-09-01 Chile bootleg DVD.

  • FK YEAhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! ;-)

  • My Brother and I left Albuquerque at 3:30 in the morning the day of this concert and arrived in Phoenix at 10am and went straight to the B.O.B and bought field tickets! SOULFLY, SLAYER, MEGADEATH, PANTERA, and BLACK SABBATH the best show ever! I still talk about this show! \,,/

  • Why does Ozzy never sing THE MOST metal verse ever written

  • @IPlayDaBasss he cant reach the notes anymore, and the would have to tune to about Bb for him to hit them

  • @satansodyssey

I don't think that lower key is good idea. Riff sounds great in this key and they don't want to change because it can lost some magic, u know what i mean. Anyway many of Ozzy live vocals are changed because he can't sing good live :(

  • @Hubertoooso They did it in C with Ozzy's solo band in the '90s. This is C#/Db like the origanal. He did the high notes in the first part of the song with his solo band. It sounds preety good if you take the origanal in to audacity or another sound editor and tune it down to B or Bb. C sounds pretty good too.

  • @IPlayDaBasss they would have to tune the instruments down to about B flat for him to be able to sing it

  • simply the best!! simply the best!! what else can you say there is nobody heavier than this band, nuff said!!

  • Sounds like Ozzy is not even trying. Rest of band sounds good though, per usual.

    Iommi, Geezer and Bill rule!

  • saw them in 1999, all original members, i jammed air guitar to them the whole time, sent chills up my spine, so cool, bill was awesome to, they were really tight,

  • This song screams out BILL FUCKING WARD

  • @jfromthismisery damn right brother, it,s so percussive but yet so heavy, that,s because it,s done by a master drummer!!!!!!!!!

  • y do they never do the last 2 verses live?

  • @Kendrick1010 dont know but thats sucks damn its the best verse :O

  • +1 (+1000) I do know why though, or at least I can infer. Presumably Ozzy can't do the falsetto decently. Still lame that they don't even try or alter it to accommodate him.

  • also he's actually singing the vocal parts differently here to the studio version anyway, seemingly in order to keep it lower and more manageable.

  • @danielhehehehe In the cover of Sympathy For the Devil he used falsetto. But in the middle part of My Jekyll Dosn't Hide from the Ozzmosis album I'm pretty sure he uses full voice for the high notes.

  • @cubby3o5

i think that it wasn "full voice" it was mix (chest + falsetto)

  • grandes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the best part is when hes like YOU BASTARDS!!!!

  • this is NOT the full version, as claimed in the description.

  • They've never sung the final verses in concert.

By 'full', I mean it's not the usual "play three stanzas of the riff within a guitar solo because Ozzy chooses not to sing it"

    So don't be a pedantic asshole...ok?

  • @blacksabfan

Did they never even do it when it was new?

  • @Sartori The earliest recording I've been able to find of this song was off Speak Of The Devil from Ozzy in '82, and he didn't sing it. So no, I don't think the last part of the song was ever attempted.

  • @Sartori wikipedia says it was removed from there setlist very early on

  • @Sartori

Some of final verses are corected by autotune (at studio). Ozzy can't sing them because they are out of his vocal rage.

  • Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Black Sabbath Forever!!!

  • never saw ozzy but I did see sabbath in the black & blue (oyster cult) tour about 17 years back ROCK ON PEOPLE

    michael jackson who?

  • this riff is so evil and powerful that it grabs you by the balls and doesnt let go

  • @rockzilla99 But I don't have any balls. o_o

  • @rockzilla99 YOU GOT THAT RIGHT MY MAN, ATOMICPUNK2112

  • The most savage riff ever. Oh my God.

  • Long live the truly godfathers of metal!

  • GODS /,,//,,/

  • I had the chance to see Black Sabbath at one of the Ozzfests either 98 or 99 in Pittsburgh. Needless to say they were amazing! I'd always wished that I could see the original line up and that wish came true. Once again, they were the highlight of that summers concert experiences!

  • I cant believe it was 1999 I never saw original black sabbath still havent all I could see was ozzy he IS SABBATH!!!

would love to see video of this event!!!

  • i use ernie ball not even slinky for drop B

  • i once used 8-38 for C#

  • tuning any lower that dropped D is pretty wack anyway

  • personally, anybody can tune to anything they want; but 99% of the time the lowest i go is drop Db, it sounds kickass.

  • they fucking rule!

  • the lower you tune, the bigger strings you need is all... how you think Type O Negative does it in B??? try 11's or 12's and reintonate ( you need a seperate guitar for doing this btw )

  • When I bought 12's to play in B tuning, the E string (6th) sounds too weak.

  • playing a Gibson style guitar? (as in shorter neck as opposed to a strat style)

my theory was always go as big as you can while you can still play (sounds fkn great)... i play a Les Paul tuned down 1/2 step with 11's on her...

  • Nah, a Strat

  • Great post, thanks.

Ozzy changed the vocal part a bit so that it was singable for him, but it's still a good rendition. don't blame the man for not singing the final part because it's very, very tough. The fact that Bruce Dickinson, who's supposedly better for some, covered this song in B flat instead of C# which obviously makes things A LOT easier.

  • (...says a lot)

  • Also wonder why they cut out the heaviest part of the song on the reunion tour. Completely ruined this song.

Maybe Ozzie couldn't sing that part.

  • I have to wonder why they didn't tune down a full step for this song. It could've gone over so much better.

  • guitar is already tuned down to C# for the final part, therefore if you were to tune down anymore the strings would not be staying on the guitar

  • true. But I have played in drop C before, and it doesn't give me any problems.

I think THAT might have been better for Ozzy's sake.

  • maybe drop C, but tuning down a full step to drop B, which is what you suggested, would be a bit too much, the guitar would barely stay in tune, and like i said the strings would basically be falling off

  • A simple misunderstanding. When I said whole step, I meant a whole step down from STANDARD tuning.

  • buttt they ARE tuning it down from standard tuning... the guitar is tuned to C# in this version

  • I know... this is the same tuning as the original song, which is a HALF step down from DROP d, which is when you only tune down the bottom tring (tho im sure you knew that)

So yeah Drop C would be a whole step, but 2 whole steps for the bottom string. (like in STRICKEN by Disturbed or any of the new Ozzy stuff)

  • ozzy's new stuff is really low

    like i dont wanna stop

    is a full step

and then on the low e

its like dropped d or c

or what ever itd be called

i dont know my low tunings

    haah

  • exactly. I dont wanna stop and Not Going Away (among others on BLACK RAIN) are in Drop C

  • because zakk wylde joined personaly im not a fan of zakk :[

  • you can tune lower

you just need to ajust your guitar right

thats how zakk wylde keeps his

strings just as tight as standard

when he plays in like c#

  • Love this song.

  • I FREAKIN' LOVE YOU!

  • amazing

  • fantastic post!

  • Hey Blacksabfan another great post! I would sincerely request however that you post the Supernaut/sweetleaf/symptom of the universe jam! Good Post Once again!

  • I thought about it, but I listed to the jam, and it wasn't overly impressive. It was mostly Sweet Leaf with just the riffs from the other songs. Maybe down the road I'll post it but probably not anytime soon. I have a version of Symptom of the Universe they did with Tony Martin where they play the whole thing, including the acoustic outro, and I'll probably put that up after Thanksgiving. I also have another surprise that I'm saving for around video #300.

    Thanks for the comment.

  • We'll be waiting

  • Well you don't need to wait because I'm at #304 now. The surprise was a couple weeks ago.

  • Yeah sorry I figured that out a few minutes later....

  • Haha. It's ok.
