Do listen to Peanuts Hucko playing with Shoji Suzuki in Japan, especially "Suzukake no Michi" (Platanus Road). Peanuts is just great! Memories of You just brings back a lot of memories of the great bands Peanuts played with. A legend.
Indeed! He is my Uncle. He is the most talented and Kind man.... needless to say, an outstanding musician.. I grew up w/ his music and attending his various performances....
I met him, only once, when he was over in England as the star of a Glenn Miller commemmoration concert being held at the same location as the original in 1944.
Absolutely great.
I also heard him play at a Cambridge jazz club during this visit, and he kindly autographed an old LP that I had of the 1944 Uptown Hall Gang (Glen Miller's jazz quintet, with Mel Powell on piano and your uncle on clarinet)....... also great
You're a luchy one. I am the only one in my family who played much music. I can't get any of my children to play anything other than video games. I can say that they are good at killing but am sorry they will never appreciate the intimate pleasure of hearing the woody tone of a clarinet played by a master and the practiced random variations of each performer. I can only say sublime - the ultimate in listening pleasure.
Excellent
