What on earth do you think "God" would need or do with your money? Crooked pastors on the other hand have plenty of use for it. Like extension on their house, new cars, family holidays.... stop this fraud. If you want to support your church financially, a small amount of the offering plate is fair enough, but 10% of your income is a false preaching. You cannot buy God's favour with money. Give what you feel comfortable giving to the poor instead.
Matt: 23:23 but this was before Jesus died to fulfill the law.
Galatians 2:16 " yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified"
Galatians 2:21 "I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose.
It's SO wonderful to know that all I need to return to God is a song and an hour of my time each week - at least I think that's what the New Covenant teaches
:) Do you sacrifice sheep? I don't because I'm not a Jew. Why then would I give 10% of my money to the church? The Old Covenant was fulfilled with Christ, why do you still act as if you need to abide by it? There is a New Covenant for those who are willing to accept it.
We have a NEW Covenant with God. It does not depend on our obedience, but on accepting Jesus Christ, who fulfilled all the requirements of the Old Covenant, as no one had ever done (not even Abraham or David).
The Bible teaches that the Tithe was FOOD, to feed for those who could not provide for themselves. That we are not under law, but under grace. We can not do anything to earn God's favor. Saying that we must follow the Law or be cursed is a lie.
I think that's what Jesus meant with His "Sermon on the Mount". Jesus didn't say to those who were following the Law "well done, God is please with you". He told them they needed to do more than follow the letter of the Law, they (and we) need to follow the Spirit (which we cannot do).
Only Jesus is capable of following the Law, and through Jesus, we are declared righteous, just as Abraham is (Gen 15:6, Rom 4:3, Gal 3:6, Jas 2:23).
Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son.
Do we still do them? Of course not, because we know from Hebrews 7-10 that sacrifices have been done away with.
But what does the Bible say about upholding PART of the law?
Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law.
Galatians 5:4
You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ.
Romans 7:6
But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.
That wasnt even funny

@blueskunk12 I think your right, and the New Covenant (which requires 100% for the kingdom) is much more demanding than 10%.
