Oh what a voice, and nothing to replace these voices, and song's. it takes me back to my childhood As we progress we lose so much. Thank god for u tube.
wow, i had no idea he recorded a version of this tune, i stumbled upon it whilst looking for the version in the opening credits of Mourning Becomes Electra. On the same note, does anyone know what chorus recorded that version?
I'm also from 1952, and a couple of years ago I purchased a double LP with Harry Belafonte, RCA Victor LSO-6006. It's a special audiophile reprint of his live concert in Carnegie Hall, April 19th and 20th, 1959.
You WON'T believe the outstanding sound quality of this recording, it's unbelievable!
Wow 1952....the year I was born. Thanks for posting. I was looking to find anything by Millard Thomas, a very fine acoustic guitar player who accompanied Mr. Belafonte on many early recordings....& voila!!
Well done, manhatin, and tanks a lot from an argentinian guy who didn't know this song... very beautiful!!!

I remember finding a Belafonte-tape when I was a kid. Besides the Banana Boat-song, this one stuck with me until today. Really beautiful!
