@duzaodu They're in the Junk Heap place before you get to the Colony on the other side of the world. You'll see wreckage of what looks like an airplane. If you stick right going in from the Kombinat side they'll be in a chest tucked into a slot on the left that only Ryu sized people can enter. there will be like a sloped area on your left with a 1 person wide gap in it.... can't really explain it much better, but they're in that gap
@duzaodu There are Speed Boots in the desert as well. To get them you have to start from the Factory and just walk EAST until you find them (it takes several nights to get there, though).
when i was 11 i was lost in the desert.....i was so lost that i found the royal sword by accident after 12 hours of gameplay....i then found life armour after another 20 hours of gameplay....both by accident.....i was level 43 around here...soooo lost
Befor the sun rise and you have been in a battlefield, when u exit, you can also use the Sand's wave direction. its usually facing West with its waves.... That's what I know. and I do.. BUt still I cant find ROyal sword... What should i do when i begin in Oasis??
1) Face 1 turn left of due WEST and walk for exactly 3 nights.
2) Face due WEST and walk until you find it, which should be about 1 night.
Or you can use the old man's directions (IIRC it's 1 night SOUTH and 4 nights WEST). My directions have worked 100% of the time for me, although much like this video, some people can't seem to get either set to work. This problem has existed for years, and I honestly don't know what's wrong :(
@DavidK519 a few steps in the wrong direction can really mess it up... to be honest I had to do your directions from the factory about 4 times before I got them completely right.... though when I did get to the Life Armor I saved to make sure I could keep going from there since I did THAT part right that took 2 tries to get to.
Sorry, but your guide needs tweaking, couldn't get the royal sword. I got the Life Armor right at the 3 day mark instead of 2.5, this threw everything off and I missed the sword.
@TheIrishEnigma You did something wrong then... it worked perfectly the way he said for me. Though I messed up slightly the first 3 times and finally got it down perfectly on the 4th try
just picked the game back from a friend and have been following your strategy guide. other than a few blips here and there it is excellent and very thorough. wanted to let you know! thumbs up!
Does it take effect on finding the items/reach the oasis if i by accident walk 2 steps in the wrong direction (like one turn away from the direction im supposed to follow)?
i'm playing this game for the first time. just slayed that rakda to save nina, felt like a total asshole, it was a fine creature that helped me several times =(
I completed everything you can do in this game except get those two items. I could never find them. Thanks for the video! I wish they made another game like this =(
@WetWilly9 Life Armor is the strongest armor in the game in terms of defense, and it grants a very useful effect as well. Royal Sword is the second strongest sword in the game for Ryu, and since the strongest sword is a freakishly rare enemy drop (averaging one per 1024 battles) from a fairly strong enemy in the last dungeon of the game...
You can also get them by the manilla shop in Lost Shores. 1 Whale + 1 Barandy + 3 Spearfish = Royal Sword; 1 Whale + 3 Barandy + 1 Spearfish = Life Armor.
Is it allowed to take longer than two and a half nights for the Life Armour to appear? I followed the directions exactly and the third night's over. :S
The locations wouldn't be any different on the PAL versions of BOFIII, would they? D:
@LoneStarAkira If you go beyond three nights of walking west you've probably missed it. Unfortunately I've only tested this on the NTSC version of the game, so I can't verify the directions for PAL. All I can suggest is to make sure you're following the directions carefully.
@DavidK519 Thanks for the whole guide man that's thorough. I got it on exactly my third night, but here's the discrepancy: in your directions for getting Just the LA is 2 nights north, 3 nights west. But then in your directions for people trying to get both in a trip say to go 2 nights north and only 2 1/2 nights west. Anyway, back to searching for me. Thanks again dude.
@paulusmacci Okay i figured out another route for the guys who got the LA on exactly the third night's end and want to try for RS: directly NE (two turns right from north) for 2 nights straight then straight east until you get the sword. I literally just did this right now, hehe.
@paulusmacci Worked perfectly for me just now. Though the last trip I did through the desert, David's instructions worked perfectly, not sure what happened this time lol.
Thanks for the upload; it's a great help. Especially like the water conservation tip. Never knew how long you could go without water before your max HP starting going down. But now I do. =]
how do I find the speed boots?

@yamibalus you would set up a video showing where the gap is, do not really know how to find, thanks for the tip!!

@duzaodu Search youtube for "speed run part 44 by davidk5". The location of the Speed Boots in the Steel Grave are shown at 4:15 of that video.

@DavidK519 I already knew that! means that there is no "SpeedBoots" in the desert was just a bluff?

@DavidK519 this is what was in doubt, do the directions to get there, how many nights I get there? 7?

I remeber i couldnt finish BOF3 because of the desert. After a year later i gave it another try and passed it with the first try.

I followed both sets of directions for the Royal Sword and it refuses to appear for me. Is it random, or is it intended to show up at a certain spot?

@agilityman8 Yes. Once you reach the Oasis for the first time, you can enter the desert again either from the Oasis or the Factory.
