My wife Ann and I ( Christchurch New Zealand) cycled over this magnificent structure in Sept 1999. Iwas 60 she was 56 at the time .

It remains as one the most memorable things we have done together .

I have done it from north beach. It was big!

All in all i would say it is about an 18 mile round trip max?

i find it so ironic that people will jump off the bridge when for me golden gate bridge and san francisco would be the one thing left worth living for if everything else in my life failed.. anyway great video happily reminded me of my future home :)

Thanx tomc06: I used to live in Marin County (in 2001), and crossing the Golgen Gate Bridge by bike was one of my favorite trips! 2 things are very impressive: watching the enormous boat from the middle of the bridge (which is very high) and feeling the bridge moving or shaking (because of the cars and/or the wind)!

Just one problem: the place is extremly noisy (it's a highway!).

The song is super tramp 'goodbye stranger' which was chosen as a symbol for all those people who jumped off this bridge, which made me really sad. Life can be tough but it really is worth living.
