I see you have an XS Power D680, i am going to get a hifonics hfi1000, do you think i could use this battery as my starter battery, the most the amp will put out is 800-850 watts rms. What battery do you have up front in your car? and how is your d680 doing?
Just wanted to tell u I got one of my other 8s in the mail and although it doesn't bottom out it still didn't sound right. So as a last ditch effort I went to lowes and got a 24" section of 3" diameter PVC and sealed purge box and put it in... Wow. Honestly if uv got the space try an aero port, it's ridiculously loud, low, and clean. FINALLY!
@jerseyguy316 I'm not sure off hand but it's on jvcs website as a new model, that's the 2011 top of the line bs or whatever....sounds pretty decent in person for having no amplification of mids/highs
I've been meaning to test it w a dmm but haven't had time w school and whatnot. I ordered 2 more for her car that will be here tomorrow so we'll see how they sound. And wow yea I don't even have to bump it hard and the thing instantly heats up, has done it since I got it....but my kickers smelled awful for 3 months before they stopped stinking
I posted again on my vid but idk how to quote from my phone lol. Well I unhooked everything and one coil is noticeably louder than the other if u hook em up individually and no sound difference at all if u hook it up 2 or 8 ohm. I'll have to call em tomorrow to see what I can do. It smells pretty funky too but I assumed it was just break-in stank but the dust cap is hot to the touch after 5 minutes so. Blah 1st exp w sundown for me haha
@94jettameowpsst There should definitely be no smell when breaking them in. And hot to the touch it sounds like a blown coil. After this demo vid, my subs werent even warm. Maybe theyll replace it if theres a bad coil. Have you tried to measure it with an ohm meter?
I just posted a vid up on my page with my gfs 8. Maybe you can tell me what the deal is because it still sounds like its bottoming out. On a jl jx 500.1 at half gain. Sub is a d4 and the vids of my 15s are also shot w my phone just as comparison haha
@94jettameowpsst I saw the vid and responded. Theres definitely something wrong. It doesn't look like its getting very much and its already bottoming out. Not a lot I can recommend from that other than a recone. The sub could be bad.
@coloraveo i just got 1 for my gf's car..box is .65 after sub and a jl 500.1 amp. do these subs bottom out for you or make some mechanical sounds during low bass?? Im talking 250 watts or less, idk it seems to have too much xmax for as little sound it puts out
@94jettameowpsst I would say for that amount of power you will be fine and wont reach the point where you're going to be getting mechanical noise because you're not hitting RMS. I would say your box is a little small for the amount of power you're running on it. Since you're not even hitting RMS power you would probably be safe going to a 1 - 1.5 cf box. I never noticed any bottoming out on frequencies above 20hz. But if you put it in a bigger box it would definitely produce more sound.
@coloraveo thx for the reply, yea ill have to build a bigger one because for example the bass in "big sean, dance" it falls on its face and sounds like this /watch?v=aDSAa8_T5wg&feature=related
@94jettameowpsst A bigger box will definitely help and tuning goes a long way as well. The biggest misconception with these 8's are that people think because they can handle a good amount of power, they will have a massive output. While they do better with more power, they simply wont have the same output as a 10 or 12 would. Thats why most of the people who run these for big output pair them with passive radiators to extend the frequency response. They wont hit like a 15, but they still hit.
@coloraveo i built a .89 cu ft box for it last night after my last comment and it sounds 110% different/better. Takes all 500w rms...i have 2 l7 15s @ 2665rms...so thats my only comparison haha :), however her 1 8 definitely sounds like a 12. Thanks for the advice!!
@94jettameowpsst the enclosure is half the battle. Awesome subs with a crappy box is worthless. Glad you got it fixed bro! I would love to see a vid! Thanks for watching.
@ xrun,honda,catfish,colora,andkrstupher14. For all you bitch ass punks that got a problem with me puttin my subs in a sealed box. Fuck yall my sealed box will have more pessure than you can handel with yall bitch ass. Do your home work before yall bitch ass punks come at me
@cadencezrs12 UMAD BRO? Maybe you can tell it to someone who doesn't have you blocked on their channel. I'm tired of seeing your stupid, offensive, and ignorant comments in my email.
hey lookin into getting the same battery how does that thing do?? and for your wiring for your second battery i read in the description that u had 0 guage ran to it. do u have to connect the negative from the front battery to the back one or can u just ground the back one?? dont know how to set the second battery up an need help. thanks
@Gunnedslingers1 The battery is good, but I would get a bigger one if I were to buy one again. This one only lasts for about a week of daily use before it needs to be charged again. The battery in the rear just needs to be grounded to the car somewhere. Running a ground to the front would be a waste of wire because the front battery is grounded to the car as well.
@MrAlexjames94 nvm i kept watching =P haha but now i have a new question, do you have any idea what a sealed box size would be for one of these little devils?
@MrAlexjames94 I would only recommend putting it in a 1 cubic foot box, (12x12x12) interior. These subs really arent meant for sealed enclosures though.
@MrAlexjames94 They are 400 watts RMS. I would feel good about putting 500 into each for daily listening, but I wouldn't surpass that. the 1200 watts at 1 ohm I had them at blew a voice coil on each one after only a month.
lol lets hear the outside! and the bass is off.......... and were back! lol great little subs! fuck all them haters! love the subs love the amp! box is nice but needs fiberglass or carpet. or stain i guess... but mdf dosent soak up pain or stain very well! (from personal experience!)
@907tacokid I fiberglassed the entire inside of the box. I didn't want to carpet or put anything on the outside unless it was fiberglass because it would eat up the spl. I didn't own this build long enough to paint the box.
Damn I feel like your setup is louder than mine. Im running 3 SA 8s on a Lanzar Opti2000 amp.. 2000W rms @ .5 ohms. Subs are wired to .67 ohms (in reality .8, I measured). I need a battery.
@KTMrida4life the box size and electrical system will affect that! yea a battery is nice but it will not fix your problem! battery is for low hits so your lights dont dim. it allows your alt to keep charging without streighning it and burning up your alt! also the car will affect that! it may look like his subs are makin his jeep look like jelly but if you put it in a different car it might not. all depends on how the car is made. (for flex and jelly perposes only!) check my system!
@KTMrida4life Its all about the enclosure. you could have awesome subs running on tons of power, but without the right enclosure, you wont see good results.

@darkstar286 Nigguh u dum biger the box the better nd bigger the amp the better to kuz u kn alweys tune dahn ur amp nd have no distortion or buy a small amp nd tune it up to the max nd have hella distortion. But I mean if u wnt ur shyt to sound like shyt buy a small amp nd tune it up all the wey

@cadencezrs12 why would you want to do that.... and did you know bigger the box less watts you need to get the subs loud.... less air resistence dumb fuck... have fun with ur gay lil sealed box bitch
@TitsandFish84 RMS power and peak power are 2 different things. 600 watts is higher than the rms power for the sa-8, but the sa-15 is rated for 600 rms. a lot of it depends on the box size as well. the more power you put into the subs, the smaller the box you need to achieve big sound, and the opposite goes for less power... bigger box and you can still do some big sound. @TitsandFish84 In addition to that, running lots of power on oversized boxes will produce big sound as well, but you have a much higher chance of damaging your subwoofer, requiring a recone
@DBbyDesign right, and typically the larger the box, the lower tuned the box is... but that all has to do with port length as well. so there are a lot of variables at hand, but its all relative.
HEY BRO I ONLY WATCHED THE FIRST 20 SECONDS BUT ALL UR SHIT LOOKD WRONG, THAT BOX IS LIKE WAY TOO HUGE FOR THOSE TINEY SUBS LULZ AND THAT AMP IS LIKE WAY TOO OVERPOWERED! I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I WATCHED LIKE 20 OF THESE ON THE INTERNET.
@darkstar286 wow you are dumb as hell, some people like their boxes tuned different and plus having a bigger amp than what your subs can have doesnt mean shit, you can turn the power down. oh and also just because you seen it on the internet doesn't mean shit. There are plenty of people who don't know shit about car audio systems, just like you.
@stanton2011 did you not read the last fucking line of my comment you dumb shit? This was satire, you fucking retarded excuse for a human being. God damn son...
@MrBeatahalic Does your "experience" allow you to see through MDF? As it says in the video description there is port in the back of the box. The interior of each chamber is 10h X 11w X 10d and there is 7 inches of port behind that. The port looks like a T.
Damn dude that hitting hard for 8's . Have you gotten metered? I just got a 97 jeep . Il be moving my setup to it and by the looks of yours it seems like they get real loud
@wichovr6 I havent gotten it metered. These subs are definitely loud for the size of them. They're my first sundowns and favorite subs I've ever owned.
@MK3SUPRA11 It says in the video description. each side is ~.6 cubes or 1.2 cubes cumulative. All that space comes from the 48 inches of port in the back.
I see you have an XS Power D680, i am going to get a hifonics hfi1000, do you think i could use this battery as my starter battery, the most the amp will put out is 800-850 watts rms. What battery do you have up front in your car? and how is your d680 doing?

Damn dude that hitting hard for 8's . Have you gotten metered? I just got a 97 jeep . Il be moving my setup to it and by the looks of yours it seems like they get real loud
wichovr6 5 months ago
@wichovr6 I havent gotten it metered. These subs are definitely loud for the size of them. They're my first sundowns and favorite subs I've ever owned.

@MK3SUPRA11 It says in the video description. each side is ~.6 cubes or 1.2 cubes cumulative. All that space comes from the 48 inches of port in the back.
