But yeah, I went through the game again shortly after that post. And yet again I'm embarrassed by my overall lack of memory.

But you have to admit that part isn't really all that memorable, especially if you really don't care to pay attention to long winded old men before a battle.

Anyone else see a resemblance to Gatse Becker from Policenauts?

KazuoKiriyama666 ,in case you haven't noticed, most of the characters from 'Metal Gear Solid' were based on characters from the game POLICENAUTS. For example, Meryl was based on other character named Meryl Silverburgh with a very similar resemblance, but in a different story. And small "ingredients" of Solid Snake's personality were based on Dave Forrest. In fact, Solid Snake's real name (David) is a refferrence to Dave Forrest, not David Hayter, like many people think.

Yeah dude, I know. And just like Dave Forrest, Snake fell in love with Meryl. :-D

#1- Dave Forrest dies later in the game

#2- Meryl was just another "love candy" for Snake. I thought Merylwas Solid Snake's first love interest, until I took a look at his past life. Take a look at Holly White, for example.

Yeah, Snake's pretty unlucky with love, isn't he?

He's had a rough time, like Liquid says to him in the battle with Rex in MGS1, "you can't save anybody, not even yourself". And he's right, since by the looks of MGS4, Snake can't save himself from ageing because of being a clone of Big Boss.

@filipeflower It's just those two characters, and Policenauts Meryl is very different from MGS Meryl, despite the same name, voice actor and similar physical appearance.

It's the same for the Jonathan and Ed seen in MGS4.
