However the song Frankie and Johnny is considered an American Folk song and possibly predates the American Civil War. Many famous artists have recorded the song including Elvis Presley, Van Morrison and Lena Horne.

this is one of most beautiful movies ever made about intimacy, fear of loneliness, companionship and love. The characters are deeply humane and genuine. Frankie and Jonhy struggle with confinement and isolation of different kinds, and they heal each other's sorrows. Beautiful !!
