What are those stamps made out of? Is it sandstone or wood? I want to do some batiking with my own hand carved stamps/prints, but I'm not sure if they need to be a specific material.
Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I realize now that my wax ( a mixture of parafin and bees wax) has to be very hot to seep throught the cloth. I did some experiencing yesterday and I loved the results. Thank you for giving me inspiration!! I have your site in my favorite place so if you do more videos, I will see them. Great Job
If i can ask you a question, it would be, what kind of wax you use, and do you ever use a tjong? I would love to start batiking, but i cant get the wax to flow underneath the fabric as well as on top.
hi wat3r, I'm not sure what kind of wax they used. the wax was very hot though, boiling, which i think is why it went right through the fabric - i think it was cotton. we just used our hands, no tongs.
yeah i will comment. how come every woman in the video is wearing jeans pants or western style dress. but they are making fabric for local wear. hmmmm????
Some people dress differently on different days. I am sure it is not against the law in Ghana to wear jeans or did you expect spears and cloth? hmmmmm???
the process is still very very basic n original, but i appreciate them very much!

I did this same batik workshop, and the stamps were made out of stiff foam blocks. They just carved the designs into the foam.
