This game is mad underrated I played WoW, Lotr, GW and they are all good in there own way but DDO has this awesome feel this grasp that makes it fucking awesome.
how does this game compare to Shaiya? i've seen that and they both look the the closest i can get to a free version of WoW. Experienced opinions pls!! :DDDDDD

@Nucleus9000 No, you mean D&D, and yes it is based on Tolkien's novel's but not limited to, what @crveni94acdc said, was that DDO stole from WOW and LOTR, but D&D was way before WOW, and it has many things and monsters that never appeared in LOTR, so for the most part it's original.

I am a die hard Dungeons and Dragons Online player and i also eve n play Paper style D&D and this trailer doesn't even describe how awesome this game is at lvl 15+, once you get into all the higher lvl and harder quests the game is impossible not to play, lvl 1-14 isn't as hard but still a lode of fun and it gets even better at 20 when u can run epics, please play we lack healers :D
@Shump2100 I play both too man, the only things I don't like about DDO is that they still haven't managed how to introduce the Druid (I can live with that), and that the combat animations are too..... dancy I guess, otherwise, it surpasses by far even newer games, and definetly beats WOW in quests

@chnl97mta I guess that depends on personal taste, I believe LOTRO has great story but awful graphics, shile WOW has decent graphics but very crappy story, I personally like DDO more, but it's not a perfect game either

@FinnishMisanthrope well 'dungeon' just means a private quest, there are alot of these quests that dont take place in literal 'dungeons', although many are indoors. there's also alot that take place in outdoor areas like jungles graveyards etc. There are wide open 'explore areas' as well, so its not all dungeons.

eh... after about 3 years of playing.. it got kinda lame. You can only do the same quest so many times before it gets boring. Not much high end content. Even the epic stuff isn't really much more then the same dungeons with monsters that have their stats padded. I canceled my VIP account and i plan to go back to single player rpgs. this game is awesome. It beats all the Korean grindfest MMORPGs. This game actually takes some team work and strategy. So I just play as a rogue mechanic to get through traps & what not.

It shouldn't even be named after great classical RPG game. All they took from books are classes, skills, battle system and world. No true role playing spirit in any MMO. I bet that today noone remembers D&D at it classical form (narrative RPG).

@Crowmaster00 are you also counting the prestige classes? cuz so far there are 11 classes wich 2 of em are p2p but most classes have 2 or 3 "sideclasses" that we call prestiges some have none some have 1 if you count them aswell then yeah there are about 30 classes or so
WoW is expensive to play. Probably about $30 for the actual game, and then there a hell of a lot of expansion packs that are really necessary to have so that's a another $50-$60 right there, and, if I'm not mistaken, a monthly fee. It's no doubt a really good game then, I'm not denying that, but it's expensive to play and keep playing.
On the other hand, DDO is maybe 2/3 of the production budget as WoW, but it's 100% all the way free. Money won't get you ahead of other players in DDO at all.
@YooYooYoo321 lol DDO isnt fading its still very active with lots of players and there are plenty of lists wich has it in the top 10 its just not so popular like some other MMO's and it doesnt have alot of competitors who are better
Im not too far into the game, but so far i like it because of all the interesting instances. There isnt a lot of open world so it is quest driven and im never bored with the dungeons and caves.
DDO is a great game if not for any other reason than there are FAR fewer punkass little twats playing it, because it is far harder for shitfucked asshat cunts to fuck the game up for other people.
From what I experienced within let's say 2 hours of gameplay, this game is actually pretty good. Definitely helps if you already got a little experience with D&D mechanics, but DDOU offers enough options for character creation to not care about builds.
Some friends persuaded me to play LOTRO, but seriously... lvl 5 after ten minutes without any stat distribution? Instead purely item focused. That's the exact opposite of how an MMO should be.
So overall I recommend DDO. It's free after all :)

I think DDO is the original MMO, but hopefully they will make it better then the other MMOs, I like the concept that its click to slash not clicky clicky like WOW, and EVE isnt really a MMO. But still it could be better.

The comparison betwen DDO and mainstream MMOs is not really adequate. All games called "MMO" are basical exactly the same game, with just another skin around it: Grinding, leveling, boasting, just like second life, whereas DDO is a real game - not yet another boring timekiller. DDO is more like Guild Wars, that's no standard MMO either - just a game for itself, and that's why they're fun - because you haven't seen exactly the same one billion times ago.

While i do agree that DDO is epic, and the fact that its free just makes it better, and that WoW is a good game, well..I quit awhile back so maybe its turned crap. The competetion is getting WAAAY tougher. With Vindictus on the rise (Has played the BETA) The bar has been raised A LOT in my opinion, DDO Is still a great game though.
WoW is not a bad game or a god of MMOs. The game devs are smart to put enough content and things to do at end game so that the players don't get bored once they hit level cap. Plus the quests, as I said in DDO that the dungeons were vast and different, WoW's quests and raids are the same. It's just not for me.

I gonna tell you why DDO is better than most of MMORPGS.
1)Most of players are equal. If you want new dungeons, go buy ahead!
2)One of the best graphic engines. Dont deny it.
3) 27 free classes, which game haves it? (33 with purchase)
4) Easy, non complicated Dungeon system. (Who would like to go kill 100 of same type of monster?)
5) You are spending less time while traveling and questing.
6) Requires coordinate with each class. You die when you goto a dungeon with 6 paladins...

@Crowmaster00 are you also counting the prestige classes? cuz so far there are 11 classes wich 2 of em are p2p but most classes have 2 or 3 "sideclasses" that we call prestiges some have none some have 1 if you count them aswell then yeah there are about 30 classes or so

WoW is expensive to play. Probably about $30 for the actual game, and then there a hell of a lot of expansion packs that are really necessary to have so that's a another $50-$60 right there, and, if I'm not mistaken, a monthly fee. It's no doubt a really good game then, I'm not denying that, but it's expensive to play and keep playing.
On the other hand, DDO is maybe 2/3 of the production budget as WoW, but it's 100% all the way free. Money won't get you ahead of other players in DDO at all.

Im not too far into the game, but so far i like it because of all the interesting instances. There isnt a lot of open world so it is quest driven and im never bored with the dungeons and caves.

From what I experienced within let's say 2 hours of gameplay, this game is actually pretty good. Definitely helps if you already got a little experience with D&D mechanics, but DDOU offers enough options for character creation to not care about builds.
Some friends persuaded me to play LOTRO, but seriously... lvl 5 after ten minutes without any stat distribution? Instead purely item focused. That's the exact opposite of how an MMO should be.
So overall I recommend DDO. It's free after all :)

I dont know why many people dont like this game, i never tried it because it was called dungeons and dragons, always thought of that to be all nerdy and shit, and i didnt believe it was that good of a game, but this game is amazing! You have to be smart to play it, and questing never gets boring.

I think DDO is the original MMO, but hopefully they will make it better then the other MMOs, I like the concept that its click to slash not clicky clicky like WOW, and EVE isnt really a MMO. But still it could be better.

The comparison betwen DDO and mainstream MMOs is not really adequate. All games called "MMO" are basical exactly the same game, with just another skin around it: Grinding, leveling, boasting, just like second life, whereas DDO is a real game - not yet another boring timekiller. DDO is more like Guild Wars, that's no standard MMO either - just a game for itself, and that's why they're fun - because you haven't seen exactly the same one billion times ago.

While i do agree that DDO is epic, and the fact that its free just makes it better, and that WoW is a good game, well..I quit awhile back so maybe its turned crap. The competetion is getting WAAAY tougher. With Vindictus on the rise (Has played the BETA) The bar has been raised A LOT in my opinion, DDO Is still a great game though.

WoW is not a bad game or a god of MMOs. The game devs are smart to put enough content and things to do at end game so that the players don't get bored once they hit level cap. Plus the quests, as I said in DDO that the dungeons were vast and different, WoW's quests and raids are the same. It's just not for me.

i honestly dont see the point in WoW.11 million strong..but for what?theres like 5000 quests and about 2600 have you running around killing little creatures and collecting shit.that game is soooo stupid and its really pointless.they advertise it all the time and try to make it look good when its nothing special,to be honest.i played it once and hated it.but this game looks amazing,and im actually downloading right now as i type :)
