This is just a lazy way of DJ'ing you ain't showing the kind of skills you got if your doing it live. and if you do so call "dj" like this with ableton playing it then that just sucks I play off of traktor and I know how to set up my mixes on the spot because I practice. this is only good if you upload it to a site but if playing live then your just fake.
just tried this and when i open up live to listen to my mix, there is the separate tracks but no transition between them,ie no mixing ,you can hear all the backspins ,rewinds its like it just records the audio no sign of mixing or using crossfader?
@djclixthebeatman no I got the full version. I couldnt figure out what to do so I just re- recorded my mix using the default serato setting. then imported that into ableton. seems to work better that way for now...o_O
I've tried this and it works but for some reason when i use the SP-6 for my drops, they come out choppy and sound as if they were cut in half? What am I doing wrong? Is there a seeting I need to have open?
I don't know man i am a traktor owner and user and I love it, but this is REALLY cool and a feature that we have nothing even close to unless someone could enlighten me with something that does use traktor in this way. This is very impressive for mixtape djs, it really doesn't get any easier to record your mixtape with full control.
@Terorking01 Their technologically advanced, theirs quite a lot of brilliant software on it, I got like 4 painting software on my macbook and their like 100 times better on my macbook then on my PC, and like most people said, they never crash really.......Oh and they look pretty cool on your set xD
@johnDfly Get with the times man.. Been a dj for well over 20 years now and dedicated to vinyl.. The bottom line now is that most new stuff is sold as digital only. Its either serato or cdj's?
i was told in work that their unlikely to do a traktor/ableton bridge, something about them both being german companies and won't come together, but i dont know how much truth there is in that.
i got this to work in live lite, however it will not allow me edit and save anything. and my junk mixer showed everthing i did. cues backspins. so having the sl1 is a joke for this.
If you don't do any scratching in your sets, you're just as well off to use an APC40, and pre-warp a ton of your tracks into clips which you can activate, then assign 2 tracks to A/B channels and use the crossfader on the APC. You can still record your set as you mix into the arrangement, plus see all the crossfader movements etc and edit them (and change your fader curve later too). This might not appeal to purists but if you want to mix and keep things synced up its very easy...
will be a blast to play with. here's hoping that a 'bridge-enabled' version of the empath gets released next year, as the 57 is a bit long in the tooth (usb 1, and 44.1/16) and the 68 is a bit much for a gig mixer (great for a perm installation, though).
The Bridge is a great idea, but the 'epic fail' is having to spend £900 or £2000 on a new mixer just to get the full Mixtape functionality.
Great if you happen to already own one of those two mixers, but as an overall % the number of DJs who will be able to use The Bridge without having to splash out large amounts of money must be microscopic.
@groovindj do you have to use a rane mixer?? it almost looks as if it's just recording midi data. as if on a 0-127 scale, 0 is the crossfader completely left and 127 would be the right side. i feel like it would be possible to use a basic midi controller instead of an expensive rane mixer? maybe that's not possible in this setup
@LightSequenceMusic, yes it HAS to be a Rane. SSL has an exclusive license with them.
In 2011 when The Bridge is part of Itch too, you'll be able to use a Vestax VCI-300 for Mixtape too, which is a slightly cheaper option at around £600.
Out of curiosity, is there some way of running Serato's output as an external input for Ableton? So you could be using Ableton's effect chain ability with live mixing in Serato? This setup looks fantastic, both pieces of software are fantastic in their own right...but to bring them together is genius! You guys rock!
