Just as a note, I don't do slates anymore. Since we've started doing productions entirely in high definition, my only distribution method is by file. Therefore, by using file names and metadata, I can contain all of the information previously included in the slate within the file itself, making searches extremely fast. Since we don't use tape anymore, there's nothing to scrub. For my facility, slates are no longer necessary.
