In the beginning you mean, yes a river in a lush green valley - it is the border area towards Nepal between Kodari and Nyalam, the southside that catches the monsoonrain before being stopped by the highest peaks of the range.
This is so beautiful! I was in Nepal visiting my son who was in the Peace Corps there. We trekked from Pokhara to Anapurna base camp. The first 30 minutes was rough...I come from sea level midwest America. I really enjoy your videos. Do you have a diary or journal? My son went ton to become a monk in Burma. The "Om Mani Padme Hung" awakened something in his heart.
I never had severe problems in tibet, but the first days you have to take it easy and try to adjust - you feel the height in the beginning very much. drink as much as you can. if you go overland from nepal you will reach up to 5000m on the first or second day, also 5200...coming in by plane to lhasa means landing on approx. 3600m....doing the high kora around ganden means reaching nearly 5000m (mountain left to the monastery) again....
But it is hard to predict how someone will react to the height - in general, of course, the fitter you are, the better the chance to adjust quickly. but thats no insurance at all. I met quite some people with heavy headache and bad problems. recently a tourist died around the kailash, there are incidents like that every year. but dont get scared, try it!
