First and foremost, the mentally ill in asylums were used for anal rape. A significant number of individuals holding authoritative positions in the system were and are deviant sexual perverts and mentally ill people cannot report their victimization...no credibility.
Which is worse having insane asylums or putting them away to rot in jail where they're confined 23 hrs a day to a 6-9 and have NO contact with anyone. If you're not crazy going into that you're gonna be before long. All of them smearing shit and eating it,writing on their windows with shit. That's not a conducive atmosphere either.I'd rather DIE but they don't even have that choice!
if you guys want to see a real life insane asylum, just see what happens if someone shuts down the inventory of 100s of pharmacies. Just think if all those (tens of millions of americans) go days or weeks without their antidepressants, anti psychotic, birth control, blood pressure, painkiller, anxiety, and ADHD medications. CHAOS.
@danr2019 Or even shut down all the Methadone Clinics.I have been on one long enough now until it would be 50 times harder than kicking my original addiction. But I was on 800 MGs of Morphine a day! That's a lot and I'm foolish for letting it get that bad!I made great money and convinced myself I needed dope to keep working in the end I need work to keep my Dope.
Most asylum provide good quality care these days in the past people didn't fully understand what was wrong with them and couldn't treat them properly.
i worked in state hospitals, and psych. units of hospitals for 20 years, the patients were treated very well in these facilaties, but it was pretty much just a housing area for them, yeah they would get their meds, but that was it.there was no real treatment except meds.we would just try to keep them safe, and from hurting us,and themselves and others.some of the state ran places were dumps.but some of the hospitals were 1st rate, clean places. we did our best for them
If someone was being treated for a physical illness they wouldn't dream of treating them like they do someone with a mental illness there's a campaign to educate supposedly to see the person not the label especially these days with so many people being treated for depression ie a mental illness. I've seen what they can do.
The mental institutions now are most likely safe, secure and friendly... I always get a shiver and a weird feeling when I see old technology or war machines from the 40s 50s and 60s... The mental institution's back then were used as an excuse to experiment on people, One hospital however... Takes healthy people into their arms and makes them mentally ill; Be it physical or mentally, How? I will not share because writing such thing is not even for the strong hearted.
the reason for restraints is to keep a patient from hurting themselves or others. they beat the crap out of people. and the reason they are in institutions is because family and the rest of society can not care for them. it is not like the old videos from near 60 yrs or more ago. psyche facilities are well equipped and people are taken care of to the best of the facilities ability. funding is a problem and cost of staffing. but tax payers can not keep paying more.
I lost my health to a "group home" I was put in from runing away from an abusive BF my mother had. I suffered severe trauma that forever changed my life and HEALTH.. leading to LUPUS and all sorts of health problems making me one very BITTER woman:( I only chat online.. never in person now. and always with a fake ID. we need to do away with these throw away places!
Hey guys. I'm battling from schizophrenia. I'm not asking for money or views or anything, but just for support and for people to hear me out. My psychiatrist said to let people know about your problem, but everyone thinks I'm weird and my family cannot understand or take me seriously. I made a blog about my problems, and I hope we can talk on there. My blog is battlingschizophrenia.blogspot.com . Fellow schizophrenics, you should also come. We can fight the battle together.
My friend went to a mental ward for about a week. They don't want you to get better there. If you're too loud, they'll inject you. If you're too quiet, they'll inject you. The thing is, mental illness is classified as not being about to function in our society, but looking around at our society you have to ask yourself, who are the crazy ones? They are not as bad as they used to be, when people would pay a few cents to laugh at the patients, but it isn't a healthy practice in my opinion.
Excuse me but they did not know how to treat the mental patients i know if i was born back in the 30s and had what i have now id never be let out but luckily today with Newer hospitals its not like that i know this cause i snuck a camera in the mental hospital.....its not like that anymore atleast in the USA
If you're in fear, and think you're being controlled that's just an excuse to drug you, which is in it's nature controlling. It's a double bind argument, and the psych's reaction/dosing proves the patient right and non-delusional, eliminating the need for treatment :-/ Hmm. A psych told me once also "You can run but you can't hide". Ooooh, I'm sooooo scared! What was he trying to do? Make me paranoid? LOL Cheers *mate*!
Asylums are full off torture and missery, yet. Such clothery are needed, depending on state off the patient, if said person turns out to be never-ending violent, then it's needed. Asylums and hostpitals today is a joke compared to this.
I think that you made this video off of false statements that you have heard about. Insane asylums do not murder people or mistreat them, OR burn their bodies. My aunt runs these and i deliver meds there, and no body is "mistreated" or "tortured". They treat each patient with safe and cautious care for them. Retard
@umki55es Depends what the situation is they really don't they have held onto a core of punishment for non conforming and can be really hard and cruel.
An excellent movie depicting mental institutions and asylums is "THE SNAKE PIT." starring Olivia DeHaveland. I saw it as a kid (no R ratings back in those days) and it scared the hell out of me!
i think mental is only a label when they just dont know whats going on. the real mental acts come from those who enjoy to see them suffering and waiting to rid of the body. To do onto others what you would not want done is just simply mental, not the lack of sense to know what you wouldnt want done. they need guidance not torture from real mental fucks
There's an awesome movie that explains everything: One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest. Great movie, and there is more than just a little truth behind it!
A commendable early effort from a promising and interesting young film maker/editor. Keep it up !! You'll get even better with experience. I love chocolate, too !!
To be honest most Mental ward's were not as cruel as shown. Patient's were treated like human's, It was like a community in some ways. In some of these pictures it shows the cruel "insane asylums". Yes, patients were treated cruelly and in no way do i support the horrific torture they performed. I would just like to remind people that not all of these asylum's were bad, some actually helped the patient's. Anyways the show that you saw was probably about the terrible treatment practiced in some
@greengrassorama0 Okay ^.^ I don't understand how I could be a retard, for expression an opinion that I can back up with facts, and have done research upon but if that is how you feel be my guest.
ok yes mental institutes did alot of unacceptable things but really... their just different??? have you ever talk to a psychologist in a prision or have you ever met any one with a serious mental condition? and im not talking about being mental retarded im talking about ppl that r schitzo mpd psychopath paranormal depression and a bunch of other crazy shit
@greengrassorama0 actually yes I have talked to people undergoing treatment for schitzo, very large depression issues and many others who have had other serious illnesses.
People are only tortured in these asylums, I can say that from my own experience. When I was 18 I ended up in a psychiatric department of "the best" hospital because I was anorexic and depressed. They treated me like an animal, like I don't deserve to exist, they humiliated and mocked me. They threatened they would tie me up if I don't obey their ridiculous rules. And I differ from those stupid sheeple, does it mean I'm insane? Of course not!
I was forced to spend a night in one of these places, because I took anti-depressants that made me fucked in the head, trust me, if you were suicidal, and they sent you here, You would wish you had finished the job.
@choxolatefreak I think that you made this video off of false statements that you have heard about. Insane asylums do not murder people or mistreat them, OR burn their bodies. @MasonicEyes there is a difference between mental hospitals and assylums. both my parents are Bipolar and occasionaly every few years need to get treated at a ental hospital for a week. Ive visited there before too. Theres a huge difference between a mental hopital because tahst were you get treatyed for medication irregualaties taht effect your head and a assyilum were your stuck there forever with no family or rights
@MasonicEyes, I hate hospitals. Don't like the nurses, don't like the spoons, don't like the food.... Everything sucks and is disgusting. I pity but admire you at the same time, Bravo for surviving this torture!
When I was 12 years old I threatened to kill myself and was put in a mental ward for 2 weeks.
They... treated me as if I shouldn't be considered human. Nothing I said was considered to be the truth...
The other children there only made me cry even more every night. One of them was there because every kid in his class made fun of him, he punched one in the face and his mom sent him to the hospital. I heard his crying at night whenever I would stop, which would even further my depression.
@obetaman see thats is why i hate mental hospitals becuase everyone there is human but yet they dnt treat u lik one, I am sorry you had to go there, for them not to believe you is wrong, i hope that metal intustues change and become a better place for ppl that may need some help instead of hurting ppl...
i agree on one side but on the other i have to disagree there wasnt all bad in every asylum ok in some there where but before they had all the modern day medication that was the only way they were able to handle the patients there were some methods that they used to save the patients from harming them and others around them some methods you would class as murder as it did kill a few people so i do understand where your are coming from and i do like the video :)

I agree that asylums are not particularly pleasant - but they are used as a last resort - mainly for people who really are dysfunctional is society.
asylums today are not like asylums in the 50's
