  • Definitely my favourite Joey Dee song. Got it on vinyl (a rereleased single and the soundtrack to 2 Tickets to Paris).

  • Love it!!

  • Anyone know the song on the flip side of this record?

  • @Penn0920 An instrumental called "Wing Ding". I have my sister's old 45.

  • pleased to help with those memories

  • wow brings back memories of my 7th grade and Miami Edison Sr High 1962 Miami Fla thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Cool song, I can remember those days. First love and crushes . I am 61 now this song still blows me away. Those where the days youth .

  • lesgore, Thanks for the reply, it's a film that I've never seen or even heard of? I'm going to have to google it, but thanks for letting me know.

  • This song was featured in a film circa. 1960, does anybody know what film it was?

  • @longboarder771 "2 tickets to Paris"

  • An innocent, sincere, but nevertheless, sensuous tune

  • my favorite too! Just saw him in Ormond Beach, Florida a few months ago. He can still peppermint twist with the best of them.

  • @steve1954lancaster Wow! Still going!

  • One of my all time favorites. My favorite Joey Dee song by far.

  • @WALTERBROADDUS For me as well.

  • well i feel like a man in outer space

i'm acting like a psycho case

    hey girl, stop this feeling

look at me; you've got me rockin' and a-reelin'

    yeah...

  • @nosleep62 doesn't get any better...

  • Love it!

  • I got that itchy twitchy feeling again!

  • @mudbonehancock ...that you just can't hide

  • cover of Johnny Nash on Groove

  • Like much better than "Peppermint Twist." What kind of love... the best kind, in the best of times... here's to the "60's!"

  • @amalfi348 Oh yeah, IMHO this is their best song by far.

  • Roulette Records & The Peppermint Lounge: The Chin owned both. Dee probably came out of the sixties with $37 and a Palisades Amusement Park ticket working for both.

  • It's the "Right" kind of love!

  • I think they were one the first interracial group to make it big.

  • The Crests, Impalas, Norman Fox & the Rob Roys, Fascinators and Del Vikings were all formed in the 50's and all had chart toppers long before anyone ever heard of Joey Dee. The Peppermint Lounge where Dee became famous was a mob dive that served watered down drinks to yoyo's from New Jersey who thought they were cool

  • THANKS FOR THE INFO.

  • @bill012150 sounds about right.

  • Yes, and put Jimmy Hendrix in the mix as well.........

  • SirBasildeBrush, I love your You Tube postings , Knowledge of music, And comments. I see your name and comments, throughout the you tube community. And by the way the Essex were one of my favorite groups of the "60", Had orginal 45 rpm by them, trashed them when I went into the Navy in "69" stupid me.

  • What kind a fool is this, that make want to jump and shout, I like it.

  • It's that itchy twitchy feelin' that I have inside...

  • GREAT!!

  • HBD MR BLUE EYED SOUL

  • P.S.: Written by Johnny Nash!

  • Best thing he ever did!

  • ohh actually, "Don't Take Away Your Love" is rather nice,

  • few knew Hendrix, did indeed play for him shout out to both of them, nice song

  • Glad this song was posted .

Noticed a Joey Dee website where they played a clip of this- brought back memories- & I even remembered most all of the words!!

  • The words are very memorable '..I'm acting like a psycho case'.

  • Good One- now do you have a copy of Shout Pt2 to upload.?

Had the original with Pt1 on one side and Pt2 on the other but it got lost over time.

Just downloaded Pt1 to play but can't find Pt 2 .

  • Alas, no. I only have Part 1 of Shout.

  • The words are very memorable '..I'm acting like a psycho case'. !!

Just added an easy-click stereo link.

  • Always loved this song - why wasn't Joey Dee & the Starliters more popular/famous in the UK. Great voice and musicianship - up tempo Fannie Mae - or a fine balad such as this. Definitely underrated this side of the Atlantic.

  • Me too. One of those songs that just stands out.

  • A lot of great songs never got a chance in the U.K. (The whole Doo Wop era was pretty much ignored over there). In some cases, the U.S. artists' songs were copied in the U.K. by local artists - like Tony Orlando's "Halfway to Paradise", Frankie Avalon's "Why", and The Tokens "He's in Town". It probably happened in reverse, sometimes, too.

  • As many of you probably know, this group was much more famous for "The Peppermint Twist," but it's not as well-known that three members of the group were later members of the Young Rascals. Joey Dee was Joey DiNicola, and The Starlighters also hit pretty big with "Hey Let's Twist" and "Shout - Part 1."

  • Thanks for the interesting info, not something many of us will know.

  • Felix Cavaliere and the Rascals...saw them at The Barge..and up and down the NY/Connecticut shore...also saw Joey DiNicola and the Starlighters at the Peppermint Lounge...did we cross paths????

  • How about Hendrix being a backup at age 13!!

  • Thanks! This one have passed me by unnoticed due to their twistsongs that aren't so good.

  • As you say, difficult to believe they also did all those twist tunes, when this is so different - and so much nicer! Love the verse '...like a psycho case'
