dont trash your hand around if youre wearing gloves and they bite you! just catch them on the cheek, go front a little bit, then back! so it doesnt rip the glove or hurt himself!
ooo nice leucistic rat snake got 3 of them at my college... been bitten loads by rat snakes and have had worse bits then that on the vid lol good vid tho.. check my profile i got some videos you might like. unfortuantly havent got a of me gettin bitten yet lol
You should try to handle him properly with some cheap latex gloves give it 10-12 months hell be friendly as a farmer also0 try raising his hab temp by 2 degrees!
Ok, I admit I don't have sound right now so maybe he says in the video what his temps are, but what would rasing the temps 2 degrees do for anything??
Texas Ratsnakes are simply ill tempered in general.
I have one as well, I got it at the age of 5 months or so, and I made certain to hold him quite a bit- he is very docile now, inquisitive and nice to look at.
You should try and pick him up more, perhaps the camera does not do him justice but he seems young still- better work with him now rather then later. He will be able to throw a decent punch when he reaches adulthood of round 5-6 feet mate.
If you actually watch the reason I didn't pick it straight up was to let it bite me a few times. Look at the rest of my videos and then tell me who the fairy is!
The scientific name for this snake is Elaphe obsoleta lindheimeri. It is leucistic meaning the its pigment genes are deactivated so to speak, thats why it is white. It is not an albino.
I had a burmese that was like that. After awhile stopped biting me, but still struck at people he didn't know. But eventually he lost his fear of all people.
i feel so weird i actaully thought it was cute whenever the snake puffed up it chest and snapped yet i find myself terrified of butterflies......

It is a leucistic Texas rat snake. Scientific name Elaphe obsoleta lindheimeri. Leucistic basically means it lacks all pigment.

I'm sure he'll get tamer as time goes on.
