Mercedes is now making the kind of cars that BMW stopped making in 2005. They've sort of swapped places. BMW used to be about driving dynamics and left the fiddly electronic crap to Merc. Lately it's been the other way around, with Merc giving us fantastic balance and well sorted handling and BMW giving is leaden, boring, gussied up poseur mobiles.

I still think the BMW M5 E39 is the greatest road car ever, but the new AMG stuff is getting seriously close.

Slk55 and c63 do not have the same transmissions, they are nothing alike at all in anyway. The c63 has an MCT transmission, not a speedshift. I'm surprised this guy didn't know that. And by the way MCT stands for multi-clutch transmission, which is mercrdes' way to describe dual clutch. And from every other car reviewer they actually like it over the e90's dct, and another thing is you can google it and see for yourselves that the c63 shifts faster than the m3.

@themsameh Tiptronic is not that similar to and real race car. We've had a horrendous experience with our SLK55 AMG which had the laggiest gearbox ever. You have to click the paddle 1000 rpm or so in advance to be able to shift without bouncing off the red-line. It was that bad. We own a manual M3 and a dual clutch transmission X5M which shifts so much better and faster than the SLK55 AMG. And since the SLK and the C63 share the same transmissions, it has the same problems.
