Enjoyed the discussion, but the Predator has a "several megaton bomb"? I don't think so, guys. A megaton is WAY beyond the power of that bomb. Hiroshima was merely 15 kilotons and it surely was more powerful than that. I'd say that bomb is at most 1 kiloton.
Predator 2 is one of the most underrated sequels of all time. Glover may not be iconic like Arnold, but the Predator was the true star of P2. It was like a demonic ninja, attacking from the shadows only to dissapear again in the blink of an eye. A far cry from the clumsy fat ass Preds in the latest films. P2 introduced some of the most iconic weaponry in the Pred's arsenal. And lets not forget the epic climax which begins in a meat locker and ends inside the space ship. Give P2 it's due damit!

Just picked up the the 42nd street forever vol. 3 and 4 with Edwin Samuelson commentary. It is awesome if you like Edwin of the Cine Files and enjoy great retro Grind house trailers i would pick it up now.

one thing more about predators confusing about which planet they are is when the serial killer guy identifys the toxic flower found on earth.. and this "alien" game preserve and gives us the scientific name of it and ends up using on the broad later to paralize her.. bad writing

Cool movie concoction PREDATOR IN JURASSIC PARK. there was this urban legend of them finding dinosaur skulls with what looked like holes drilled in them. Could be projectiles or energy weapon of some kind? Maybe they wiped out the dinosaurs millions of years ago and would love the challenge if man recreated them? I'd rather see something with Predators as an alien race in the ALIENS future, similar to the Dark Horse ALIEN VERSUS PREDATOR comic series from the 90s. (Where maybe it's not generally known that the Predators hunted humans-- And that most of the Predators civilization considered that to be wrong!)

PREDATOR: So awesome! Great script, great score by Silvestri, very good characters, and awesome alien antagonist. Have nothing bad to say about it. Just one of the classics.

PREDATORS: This is pretty much the case of great ideas, but weak execution. Brody's badly miscast, the characters were weakly written, and frankly, I got bored really quick.
also, imagine dropping any number of people in the middle of the Predators' Homeworld, surrounded by tens of thousands of Predators.
you'd need a stopwatch to measure how short PREDATORS would have been, unless the main character would have switched over to an adolescent Predator who spends the next hour and a half showing off his Danny Trejo head and getting laid and stuff.
Predator 2 was the very first predator movie that i ever watched and it wasnt that bad, i say Predator the next day and i was really amazed, i was like " predator 2 is just ok, predator is the real shit ! " i can see tis flaws but i liked some parts, like the design and the characteristics of the urban predator. Predators was just ok, i see it more of a homage to the original than a ripoff or "the same movie" lots of miscasts and it could have been 10 times better.
i can understand your criticisms with the exception of Danny Glover as the main character. however there was one detail that you missed. one of you remarked that the Maria Conchita Alonso character was spared because of the noble reason that the predator felt pity for her. however, in hunter culture, it's very frowned upon to kill impregnated prey, not for altruistic reasons, but because you would be denying future hunters the prey you killed before it was a "viable" prey item.
