  • @waggable Furries can't handle the awesomeness.

  • *taildroop* WHO thought this would be a good idea?? *facepaw*

  • @waggable kill yourself faggot

  • honestly i think this project should proceed, one error should be corrected to make the whole concept a sucess!!!

  • Damn, talk about crashed and burned!

  • I was there nothing wrong with what the pilots did. Rockets were wired wrong forward firing rockets were supposed to fire after downward firing rockets . Downward firing rockets fire first to slow decent rate then forward rockets to stop aircraft. Wires were crossed during installation. So when they flipped the switch wrong rockets fired and plane stalled. Also remember this was designed and modified during a two week period. Program was not stopped due to the accident because the hostages we

  • 1:35 Maybe if the damn pilot would've been correctly leveled with the ground , the plane wouldn't have been destroyed so badly.

  • en el 2:20 me lo hubieran regalado... yo lo necesitaba. =)

  • Wagner Field Florida Eglin AFB

  • Where were these tests conducted?

  • well, the idea WAS good

  • 1:08 holy CRAP

  • I saw a documentary on this plane. It was a C130 modified to land and then take off from a soccer field ( maybe 150 meters).

This accident happened cos the pilot started the bosster brake too early, so the airplane has stopped but was still at 5 -7 meters above the ground. It fell down crushing itself.....

  • Damn quick take off!!!

  • I'd like to meet the genius that thought that one up (the landing part). They may not have destroyed the plane if they had fired the vertical JATO bottle after the deceleration ones. But really, what were they thinking????

  • @zone935 what?

  • No Big China give little america money!! There will be no little america army in the world!! U.S is a big day dreamer, always ask Big China for money for their Alien porject!! U.S must say BIg China is their big DADDY!!

  • @zone935 Stop smoking crack little Ching Chong!

  • I want to see the engineering reports. I was a naval aviation NDI so I had the distinct privileged to learn allot about what happens to stuff and from what and why, but I never did get to see any results from all the 130 airframes, be it pre or post operations testing on this stuff.

    /shrug

  • Oh man this is so cool! Check out the wikipedia entry for "Operation Credible Sport". We're watching previously classified and top-secret footage here! After reading about the Testing phase of OP:Credible Sport and how the descent-braking rockets didn't fire at all, and the lower set of deceleration rockets were fired early, etc. etc., then being able to see what is described instead of just reading about the event is so cool!

  • @insanity54 Thanks for the heads up. I will look into it.

  • share we call this super sonic wave ??

    Amazing footage

  • 0:52 WAIT i forgot my pop tarts!

  • Schau doch mal bei Facebook unter "in 5 Minuten schmerzfrei" nach, es hilft wirklich.

  • 1:08 GTFO

  • Vietnam...

  • Ûhm_Î_fêÉl_sÒ_löñelY_todAý

  • HOLY SHIT @1:08

  • just when you get to become a test pilot for secret missions like this you do something like that. DAMN! childhood dreams shattered.

  • So big,so expensive,so fucked

  • very nice be better with the track fire but good anyway

  • Holy. Fucking. Shit.

  • lol "EVERYBODY OUT" *looks out the window wide-eyed, adjusting collar nervously*

  • where can i get one of those fly toys?

  • at 1:09 it pretty much took off instantly..Fuckin badass!!

  • from 2:00 on that thing just looks like a demon straight out of hell. Gnarly

  • well, it seemed like a good idea at the time, cap'n...

  • ...and then the wing came off...

  • That Hercules could probably take a hit from anything that´s heatseeking from like mars

  • That is just nuts! It's tough to tell but it looks like the A/C's forward motion ceased while it was still well above the runway. At that point it became a multi-ton brick, that was on fire. Not very conducive to flight operations.

  • You don't understand what loud means until you've heard a rocket-assisted C-130.

  • The pilot should have a loudspeaker and scream "WITNESS THE FIREY DOOM OF THIS EARTH" every time he lands.

  • Amazing video!

  • How not to land a plane #1: Apply brakes before landing.

  • @pageygeeza how do you plan on landing a plane in a stadium without slowing down on approach?

  • @fcscouto Airbags! XD

  • Beginning of the drawing board for the Osprey?

  • Whoops. Back to the drawing board. Now, whose idea was that again?

  • Thanks for posting the video. And thanks for not adding and crappy music.

  • tępe chuje wpierdalać się do rakiety!

  • That VSTo@ 1:05 is pretty amazing.

  • Cool, a C-141B style UARRSI refueling receptacle.

  • Its like garrys mod

  • Красиво горит!!!

  • this C-130 was 1 of 2 designed to land and take off in the soccer field across from the american embassy in tehran back in 1980. It was the hard landing that destroyed this aircraft. you can see the main landing gear collapse on impact. the second aircraft is at robins afb ga.

  • oh this will destroy the runway

  • @Minh1110 Yeah, the Iranians would be really P-O'd about the damage to the grass on the soccer field!

  • i love how the camera pans away just as the wing is snapping off and then when the plane comes back in to view it looks like a scene from a NIcholas Cage movie and the whole plane is on fire..

  • dude he litteraly got off the ground in no more then 30 feet!! thats insane

  • Yes they all got out safely.

  • @Crediblesport this aircraaft its supposed to tries to liberated americain and iran

  • Yes thye all got out safely.

  • Did they all get out?

  • waste of fuel

  • holy fuckdamnit! look at the props! is this a plane or an UFO?!

  • Do they sell these in Toymaster?

  • i can just hear everyone after the landing: turn it off turn it off TURN IT OFF!

  • were do i got one!

  • 2:30 junior pilot hasn't shut down rotors more then 10sec after failure

  • @jonkam10 Don't forget... The video is in slow motion!!!! (Could have been after 5 seconds for all we know?) Depends how slowed down the video is...

  • @jonkam10 I suspect that the engines were on their own at that point. The control linkages might have been severed/damaged in the crash. Besides, sometimes it's hard to remember that the plan was to drain the swamp, when you're up to your ass in alligators.

  • This falls under the "what were they thinking catagory".

  • Damn aliens

  • OMG LOL i never seen a C-130 like this before make this the new blue angels fat albert

  • What genious thought of this design?

  • This was testing for a prototype C130 to be used in the Iran hostage situation during carters administration.

    It failed miserably!

  • Holy Crap that thing took off in the space of about 100ft

  • like we say here in Norway, direct translation: that really pulls the skin of the hotdog. and i last coment can we please replace the cameraman in the last scene. ok now take 2. and action.

  • Supermoded!

  • the only remaining c-130 proto-type is at warner robbins musem of avation on static display. they were intended to land in a soccer arena

  • sick

  • why cant they just use helecopters?

  • @snedz10 Range, speed, capacity.

  • i want to take off... RIGHT NOW!

  • This was in support of the Iranian hostage rescue mission wasnt it?

  • now that i took a ninth look, probably more like 5 ft . . . .

  • what was the take-off distance @ 1:09? 15 ft.? ridiculous!

  • WOAH 1:08 - NICE! it this all in slow motion or is this actual time? 1:30 - how is that still able to fly properly?! oh, it didnt, the wing burnt off!

  • 1:33 That happened crash.... I like that it hard brake ! Ha ha ha ha

  • I'd sure hate to be the test pilot in that weeney roaster!

  • so do they still use this system?

  • on the prop is that compressed air? like u see on jets wings? anyone?

  • 1:30...oh shit wrong button.... PREPARE FOR A HARD LANDING AND A FIREBALL!!!!

  • @onenutmonkey234 The crew member who "pressed the button" as you put it was only following the co- Pilots directions.

To the crew members it only felt like a hard landing. They had no idea the plane crashed as badly as it did. Until after they got out of the aircraft.

The flight crew were out fitted with special flight suits and ear protectors. The deciblbe alone from the Rockets could kill anyone without ear protection.

  • @Crediblesport he fired the wrong rockets look the vertical rocket suppose to fire first then the reverse rockets, not oposite.

  • @Crediblesport Not just blow out the ear drums, but actually KILL someone? Really?

  • @Crediblesport it was a joke buddy.

  • @Crediblesport That would be awesome!

"Tally ho chaps, jolly good flight. Let us get out of this aircraft and have a good old cup of tea...oh..oh dear."

  • that was funny lmao

  • @onenutmonkey234 yeah i heard about that one before, aparrently they just hit it a bit too soon, so it killed their airspeed causing them to effectively freefall the last 20 ft or so

  • @willwoodhouse yup, exactly what happend.

  • These are in no way shape or form JATO BOTTLES!. They are ROCKETS!!!

I would never trust such and unreliable and under armed air vehicle as a V-22 Osprey to rescue anyone nor would I allow anyone I know to ride on one. Although I do fear my son in the middle east has probably flown on 1 or 2.

Helicopters do a much better job for such an operation.

With today's technology and in flight refueling and range. Choppers are and always better than the V-22 Osprey perhaps the 2nd or 3rd generation.

  • @Crediblesport Well that is highly debatable. The V-22 has worked out its kinks, its been in development and testing since the late 70's/early 80's. It isn't as unreliable as most expect. While a helicopter is more versatile in "short burst" operations and in urban terrains, the V-22 has higher speed and longer range, making it an ideal replacement for helicopters. There are trade offs. There are some things that the V-22 can accomplish better than what a chopper could, and vice versa.

  • @Crediblesport how are helicopters better? The V-22 can turn from a helicopter to a plane which makes it faster, thus saving more time. It also carries more troops than a helicopter like the blackhawk. Sure its underarmed , but so is a transport helicopter.

  • not rly the v22 is shit, crashes all the time, not as fast as a plane, cant load as much as a chopper, its just plain shit

  • @xxYy77x the number of accidents the V-22 has had are 9

the total capacity are 24 troops seated or 32 troops which are floor loaded.

a helicopter like the blackhawk can carry only 14 troops. dont get mad because the Osprey is slowly replacing aging helicopters in the Us forces

  • @Crediblesport Nope there jato's!

  • Credible Sport II Phase I 24 August to 11 November

    1981.

The purpose of CS II was to satisfy prototype test requirements

for Combat Talon II avionics and unique airframe modifications. The

vehicle being tested for CS II program is configured as the end

configuration from the CS I project. The STOL capability would

allow CT II aircraft to operate from landing zones of 1500 feet or less

(over a 50-ft obstacle) at 140,000 gross weight.

  • 30 Rockets were

installed on the airframe. 8 ASROC (Zenith) engines pointing forward

in fairings on the fuselage side; 8 pointing straight down to cushion

the landing by the wheel wells and fire approx. 6 to 12 inches above

the ground. For takeoff 8 ASROC engines provided lift pointing

backwards and down on the side of the fuselage, with 6 smaller rocket

engines (Platypus) 2 on each wing pylon mount and 2 on the rear

fuselage under the beaver tail to prevent over rotation of the

    airframe.

  • Airframe modification included but were not limited to the following modifications: The airframe was fitted with an array of 30 Rockets on the

airframe. 8 ASROC engines pointing forward in fairings on the

fuselage side 8 pointing straight down along the forward fuselage at

the wheel wells to cushion the landing and fire approximately 6 inches

from the ground for reverse thrust augmentation.

  • Horsals fins were installed forward of

the Horizontal stabilizers, a Dorsal fin was fitted on the rudder

spine, the flaps were double slotted, and the ailerons were extended.

An In-flight refueling pod from a C-141, was installed on the fuselage

    center line. A tail hook was fitted forward of the rear cargo door;

    for the planned carrier landing.

  • @Crediblesport Avionics modifications were as

follows: A DC-130 type radome with a F.L.I.R. turret was installed on

the nose. This F.L.I.R. turret was slaved to the on board computer and

in combination with the F.L.I.R. telemetry and mission avionics fired

the forward pointing rockets 20 feet above the ground.

  • Nowhere near the size of a -130, but you can see how something like an Osprey would have worked well (if it didn't breakdown) for this type of stadium rescue mission.

  • @bc1969214

YES IT IS A C-130. AND YES IT WOULD HAAVE WORKED.

THE YMC-130H holds several records for STOL flight and take off.

  • @Crediblesport I know this is a -130 in the video, what I was getting at if you re-read is how the V-22 Osprey design could be useful in this rescue situation. You'd need multiple to equal the lifting ability of a -130 though. I've always like the JATO takeoffs from the Blue Angels' C-130 Fat Albert but they can't even do that any longer due to shortage of rocket bottles.

  • @bc1969214 For takeoff 8

ASROC engines provided lift pointing back and down on rear fuselage and

6 smaller rocket engines 2 on each wing pylon mount and 2 on

the rear fuselage forward of the beaver tail to prevent over rotation

    of the airframe.

  • someone go a 11-killstreak

  • Looks like it just put too much stress on the main wing, but that is still impressive none the less.

  • Wasn't this aircraft built to pick up POW's by landing and taking off in a stadium?

  • 1:10 OMFG thats a test!

  • If this plane was built presently it would be a success since the advanced onboard computers would be able to handle the rockets on its own with 100% precision.

  • WHATT!!!!! thats one crasy plane .

  • @axs12345 Yes they were at 30 million for the program.

  • prop fans did not exist or were still in development.

How would this have worked better?

besides that has nothing to do with the accident.

  • '

not good idea about 8 rocket motors on the front cone nose,,,

use 8 prop fans can be spin for fin backward

  • Wow. Just epic.

  • Epic STOL

  • look at 1:07!!

  • oops wrong switch!

if the plot didnt kick off the wrong rockets that landing here they probably would have executed the mission

  • @qunniq Not the Pilot, He had nothing to do with the firing of the Rockets.

The Co-Pilot misread the altitude, and told the engineer to fire the rockets.

"It just felt like a hard landing to us" V.M. Engineer.

The engineers were waiting for a switching box from IBM that would fire the rockets in sequence. The rockets were fired manually up to this time.

The IBM fire control box arrived a few days later.

  • I just want to shake the hands of the mad men in the cockpit... That takes balls...

  • Wow thats amazing!

  • god that first part was SO badass!

  • This thing was awesome until the wings broke off

  • @Azimuth1991 Hahah, I was gonna say, This was a badass program, till the test crew got all fucked up..

  • this was made so the army or whatever coul land in a soccer stadium to get back some soldiers that were held hostage

  • That look like Thunderbird 2 !

  • Yea that is damn crazy!

  • gah that take off at 1:08 was nuts. That would be awesome to see in person. It literally took off like a rocket haha

  • The pilot was probably laughing like a schoolgirl the whole time

  • @RMrider57

Too right. RATO looks like the perfect way to do VTOL without any major design problems.

  • epic fail

  • What USA does to save it's citizens .......anything

  • I couldn't agree with you more. Of all the countries in the world I think that the US tries the hardest when it's citizens are in those situations.

  • This was a retro fitted Herc to rescue the Iran hostages in the early 80's. The idea was to land in the soccor stadium, pick them up and takeoff, from inside the stadium.

    Following test crash, operation aborted.

Looks like the physics was sorted as far as takoff concerned.

  • not crazy

  • its crazy...

  • 1:09 Holy smokes batman!! What is that, a 10 foot take-off roll? If that?

  • stuck on stupid has all the answers 9ugly american the terrorisrs are his heroes. yady yady yady

  • THIS is what I was looking for on Credible Sport. Fabulous footage! I see where the last segment shows what went wrong: the wrong JATOS were fired, stalled the plane and pancaked it. Thanks for putting this up, fived and faved without question.

  • the right jatos were fired, the problem was that the pilots fired the front jatos too early wen they still had to much air

  • Actually, the braking and retro rockets fired correctly. It was the vertical landing rockets at :23 that failed to fire.

  • 1:38 aircraft stalls

  • 1:30 noob

  • what a disaster

  • Thats one insane takeoff in 1:10

  • F-ing brilliant camera work from 1:46 thru 2:00 absoluley brilliant. The boys in the engineering department really appreciate footage like that, real helpfull to see what went wrong...LOL

  • 确实生猛

  • man, you just crashed!!!!!!

nah, that was part of the program

    phsst....

what its true, dindt you see how we controled the crash?

    sure, it was an art....

    oh, just shut up....

  • wow the props are cutting the air

  • this is insane

  • Man, this would of a awesome rescue mission if this didn't end up crashing.

  • 1:09 i can imagine that when the pilot use it in desert:)

  • not good rocket on the plane front cone nose

  • lol wtf instant takeoff

  • muito boa a montagem do video !

  • my is fucked up,,its fast up

  • Is that RealTime ?

  • se as autoridades do planeta desse credito a alguem com ideias de melhorias de vida o planeta seria melhor ..
