  • e36 ftw lol jk i love all bimmers :D

  • BMV is a track car and can handle turns and high speeds. Drag racing is best with a straight axle that is posi. Then again true posi does not corner all that well! l Hmmm then a car that is used to drag race cannot do anything as far as off road. A truck used to haul can beat a BMW but will roll over at high speeds on a turn and has a long stopping distance. You need a off road BMW ,all wheel drive, drag racing car with a truck suspension.

  • Overall the e46 was the worst m3. From problems like this to the s54 motor blowing up easy. My buddy sold his e36 supercharged. And bought a e46 and supercharged it. Jyst to get rid of it to go back to the e36. Just cause it says bmw does not make it gods gift. If they car can not hug a straight line without breaking hows it going to hug curves.

  • whay she dont have a rear disk brake?????

  • 1310 reasons to learn how to release a clutch.

  • German engineering at its finest...?

  • i cant believe it broke that easy

  • that shouldnt have happened though. its a performance car be on the strip or the track. and you may need to perform a launch on a race track aswell. or at a stop light. i thought those cars were very reliable.

  • @cardude1992 as a german who´s owned lots of (german) cars I can tell you one thing. reliability is not up to the brand. german quality... that term is just a cliche. each one of the audis and bmws I ever had ended up having major affairs. the last 3er bmw (e46 328) I had decided to "take a break" during a lone autobahn ride which was made me swear just like the guy in the vid as it was night n raining... and as lucky as I was - my cellphone was empty as well. like a bad movie.

  • This was quite a fun video, if it was me, I would invested the extra couple of bills and replaced the left axle shaft at the same time just for a lil extra insurance, and the cookie monster song..epic! LOVE IT..lol

  • seems like you should have done a little more research or bought a e36 m3 and saved the troubble

  • Axles always break on the track. Good to bring a mechanic with you and always extra axles or upgrade to titanium front & rear axles.

  • Cool vid, dude. Not so cool story! Glad she got back together in no time flat. That is "two" of the one-two punch - waiting on repairs.

  • I take it you didn't beet your time on the second attempt then, lol ?

  • well... easy fix for something that could have happened to anyone anywhere. at least the engineers at bmw designed the axle to be the weak point. blowing up the differential sucks.

  • Can BMW m6's be drag raced?

  • @DefendTheHouseZ Yup. Any car can be drag-raced, it's just a matter of how well they do at it. M6 is a powerful but heavy car.

  • Thumbs UP MAN!!!,,, I am Glad I Drive my Pampered yet so, so, Humble 1994 325i 4-Door--LOL,,my College Car I got in 2004---Now has about 144,000 miles. I am 34, but drive the car like I am 80 years old man!!!! Ha Ha, thanks--Nice Video--Peace!!!

  • Bavarian Meat Whackers

  • "BMW' more like Big Money Wasted

  • Great Video...sorry about the misfortune, that's rough, no one likes seeing their cars go through such grief...but that's a great candid video...all the best

  • i was ready to call you a douche and an idiot but you honestly show love and care for your car especially ordering shit overnight! btw, next time you go to the track, get you a proper set or slicks and you'll see that BMW's are meant to be on the strip too

  • I've seen so many BMWs on my local dragstrip. From E30 to E60 and all in between and they just kicked ass and went home. I'm guessing it was just its time to break. But anyway I've always said that an M car belongs to the track(and the twisty roads of the south of France ). Nice car, please keep it in its natural habitat :)

  • you could be wrong dude....... but then, now we would be 2 lol.

hug hug huggy huggy ... lol

if you fellas wanna race.... get a cheap azz car, dont fawk your nice luxury car that was meant to drive you to work and do your chores as a luxury commuter :)

  • You look like Derek D. from FLD.

  • LOVE THE CS VERSION! my dad has one :D last one in the UK

  • Thanks for posting. Feel for you dude. Is that a ZCP spec? (called the CS here in the UK) nice car, just like mine.

  • @TheElijon Yes sir. ZCP

  • Ha OnStar just fucked You!

  • It's ashame what happened!! I still like M3's tho. well not the price of them :/

  • lol that sucks!

  • LOL.. nice insight!

  • haha the last part of the video about on-star, and the vette was HILARIOUS!!!!

  • Yeah.. bmws aren't for drag racing... Basically, bmws aren't for racing at all.

  • @noname69690 yea they never win races, no car companies use the m3 as a bench mark when creating theres... the new boss 302 for example?

  • what would we do without triple A....

  • wheeellllhop

  • Doesnt matter, at the end of the day you had some fun, which is more than people who garage their BMW's can say

  • @ATLBraves1992 dude the e46 came out in 2001 and 13.4 was fast during that time, and by the way the e46 can be bought for 20,000 or less. those really, those times are pretty good for what ur paying for.

  • I agree with you 100% and it is valid for all most all Jap imports (unless you fully rebuild one for drag racing purpose). Muscle cars on the other hand are perfectly made for the straight line. Talking from my own experience, now I never drag race on a Jap import, it's a waste.

  • Well yes BMW's aren't drag cars, they still shouldn't have the issue you had. If it were a wide spread problem I think we'd see a LOT more pissed off M3 owners. All the major car testers out there drag race the cars for quarter mile times and haven't had this issue. I'd chalk it up to a wacky issue you had with your car and wouldn't think it's something that would happen again. If you've taken your car to tracks in the past you should know that any trip to any type of track can create issues.

  • thanks for the insightful video. hard lesson learned.

  • OnStar is a Bitch !!!!!!

  • i race my m3 every time i pull into the street. Idk what your talking about.

  • Getting wisdom is sometimes painful my friend.

  • great vid..lol sorry about ur M3 tho...hahaha C is for cookie! :)

  • (B)ig (M)oney (W)aster

  • C is for cookie thats good enough for me!

  • 1 reason not to drag race a bmw... ITS GERMAN!!

  • come on e46 was one of the greatest car of maybe all time best chassis and is even as competetor to the new e92 and i have an e92 so im saying this cause i know and as what was said before if it REALLY IS A STOCK m3 im sure a few accelerations will be no problem and btw nice car!

  • Wow 13.4.... Pretty slow for the price

  • nice video...

  • the M series is the top racing bmw series, there made for track and racing. u just dont know how to race one, just get a 335i or something

  • Great video. I don't know BMW's at all really but, should you feel the need to put the power down again one day or night I would recommend an axle shaft with a higher spline count. Now, again not sure of what aftermarket parts BMW has readily available but that would be one thought to have whilst eating dinner one night. Nice car too btw.

  • did your friend do all that work for free? if so he is one awsome friend

  • good video

    bad experiance

    and i dissagree with it

BMW can hang with any car any occasion and is the best for a reason

but tuning and careing for them is the thing about it

but gladly your pockets werent hurt that bad and no one got hurt

and smart of you not to race itll save you alot of money my ///M5 will continues to kill riceburners

  • Heh heh. On star fucked you... I liked that joke.

Back on topic I'm sure with aftermarket axles you could launch all day.

  • I say same thing bout that Allstar :) I race my ///M3 & My friend's with 4.10 LSD 0-60 in 4 Sec, all the time, have no problems, as it been said prob factory defect! In my experience ///M3 will take any challenge even abuse

  • C is for cookie!

  • Ive launched my 570 hp M many times and have yet to break anything. Your axle may have had a manufacturer defect.

  • great vid... entertaining and true

  • wow nice way to just hang the caliper wit the brake line still attached thats terrible. next time you go to the track watch out because you might not be able to stop

  • Are those drum brakes on an M3?

  • I drag my Z4 all the time, but I NEVER pop the clutch... Just shouldn;t do it. :(

  • Not worth it for a few moments of adrenaline. If I want a thrill, I take a little brisk drive through the twisties.

    Love my 330ci.

  • I am very pleased that this was a real complaint not someone simply saying bmw's suck cause they dont unless your trying to do stuff their not supposed to do haha like this.

  • I have a 335i (a little bit slower then your M3) and it excels more at "hugging the road" as you say, even though it is pretty fast, I like its handling and the interior more. Lots of fun on the backroads.

  • When you replaced your axle shaft you could have at least upgraded to a high performance pair- then you could beat the piss out of them and not have to worry about it. GL- if you are going to own a "performance" sedan you can at least learn the basics. I hear Google can be a virtual goldmine of info... you might want to check into that. GL

  • No I think you are right, most bmws that come into the local drag strips don't fare too well. And haa that corvette guy is screwed.

  • Great video. Good advice. I have a 2006 M3 ZCP and have made about half a dozen trips to the drag strip, running at least twice or three times during each visit. I used my launch system each time. I have not had any issues, thankfully. But after this video, I don't think I'll do another one. I'm content with driving it on the race course - heck I'm even content with driving it just anywhere on regular, twisty roads. That's where you really enjoy this car. So no more drag strips for me!

  • "son of a fuck, piece of monkey shit" hahahah lol

  • Great!

  • It would seem to me that if you spent 50+ k on a sports luxury car that has over 300 hp that the fine engineers at bmw would design axle shafts that could easily handle the problem. If you blew the axle on the second run with what i'm assuming is a stock m3 in good condition than I would have to believe that bmw engineers fucked up. There are crap box civics making 3 to 4 times more power than stock using slicks that are running on the stock axles with little to no car drama.

  • @skylineqrt4 ALL cars break - ALL of them. What you don't realize is that prior to my little trip to the drag strip, that M3 had thousands of miles on road courses (real race tracks) - from Daytona Speedway to Sebring Raceway and I never had a problem with it.

  • @usmcspeedy to be honest, thats the first time i've heard of an M3 breaking the axle shaft on launch like that. You said you were tired, so maybe you launched a bit harder than recommended? or maybe yours was just a little defective? I have an E30 3 series with 250.000+ miles and i launch it hard at all kinds of races (track, drag, backroads, etc) and its fine.

  • This whole video i kept seeing adam sandler....idk why.

  • Shy 10 dollers of being a quarter mile (1320 feet)

DO IT RIGHT NEXT TIME!!!! Great Car

OHH Ya WPB track is about 20 miles from home

  • @jmsraz123 LOL.... thanks. I'll try to spend the additional $10 next time to make it a perfect 1,320 feet/dollars :)

  • great video, admittedly didn't look great at first but your story and the videos were entertaining. Also nice to see an M3 owner who doesn't think his car is the GOAT, though M3s are certainly incredible cars.

  • at least ur subframe didnt tear through the body floor like it did in my 328i which i do not own anymore, 5000 dollar repair screw that, and thank you BMW for settting an expiration date on a recall.

  • 5 $ for 1 mile -.- Impossible

  • Glad that my $10,000 has managed to travel a distance of about 100 miles down the strip.. My car is still going strong... Yeah thats right its a Ford..

Did you replace with an OEM Shaft? Carbon Fiber would have been nice to put in since you needed a new one anyways

  • wow that is hard to do, bmw builds em right but you hooked it up

  • Right on! Thanks for the post! I've had an E36 M3 and now an E46 M3 SMG. To smoke an 8 cylinder V8 is intoxicating with a normally aspirated inline 6 is FUN! Keep posting!

  • BMWs are not for racing either . . . they are executive luxury sports cars with kinda good handling . . . a race car is purpose built (no luxury . . no executive BS) and is strong enough to take the punishment

  • @iVoodooProductions a cars only as good as its driver

  • LOL, great story.......Excellent, you should do stand up! Great to hear your car is back up and running!

  • hey you look like Lt Col Rob Riggle

  • get a mustang easy 12s car with 1000$ of bolts on :D

  • I can't believe how fragile that car is, you didn't exactly dump the clutch at 4000 rpm. I have drag raced my Accord V-6 many times and never broke anything. The six cylinder in that car does not have alot of low end torque either which makes what happened more surprising.

  • Could've had a Boss 302 for $20K less. No snapped axles, and it's a lot quicker. BMW aren't really the ultimate driving machines after all.

  • A monkey can successfully drag race, but a bmw can't make it a quarter mile distance at wide open throttle?

  • Gators baby!

  • I would have some respect for you if you werent granny shiftin against that 300. O.o

  • Thanks. Good input in a nicely composed story.

  • Awesome vid man u Should make Some more!

  • @iVoodooProductions i hit a wall doing maybe 55 around turn onto a freeway... $2,000 down the drain =/ ... it was such a beautiful car before it was rebuilt.

  • "OnStar fucked you man" haha!

  • @iVoodooProductions buy a 4wd if you don't mind the understeer and can't throttle control

  • Nice plate lol

  • Was thinking of taking my 07 Z drag racing, but this kind of scares me lol. Like the M3, the Z is made more for handling.

  • The most truth I found was at 2.47

  • Jeez, my MSM MX5 axles are rated at 400rwhp and does 10.7 stock... I guess you spend more to get more? LOL!!! F*@K F*@k F*@k ONSTAR!!! LOL!!!!

  • your a funny dude, thanks for the advice and hopefully i won't do that to my fathers car

  • @iVoodooProductions you need to learn to drive then. the E36 is a Circuit track car if you cant handle corners at 55 you should slow down and learn to properly drive a car. on a race track with pro teachers. call up Skip Barber Racing School.

  • I run DSS Level 5 1000hp axles in my M3 for this reason alone.

  • Lol What an expensive piece of crap, i guess it could happen to anything that has an independent rear end and not a straight axel, but the rice burners when they break are cheaper to work on so thumbs down for bmw.

  • DRUM BRAKES!! j/k LMFAO at 2:35 I have SO been there. Sounds almost exactly word for word what I have said way too many times and I am sure will say again.

  • tht was stock m3 duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhh not for drag race any body would noe tht but good u fix ur m3 yey

  • exactly...

  • german engineering, they are as good as nazi's winning ww2

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha see tht vett

  • Love how your "mechanic" lets the brake caliper hang by the brake line...

  • on star fucked you, FO SHIZZLE. :D LMAO

  • There is more!: Stage 2 or 3 Feramic clutch. Not every guy has every single mod mentioned, but many do. They are all areas that need attention to run a decent time or not shatter on the start line.Better times can be run practically what are spent just on mods to buy an old mustang or something. Why is it done? Every reason under the sun.I HAVE seen E30's and E36's pull huge wheelies and run in the 8's. Its the E46 that is the hardest to make into something it was never designed to be.

  • Hey, Carlos. How is it? A select few outfit their E46 Turbo M3's to drag race and still have not broken into the 10's(yet).It costs a fortune in heavy duty parts and drag radial tires...up to 6k if you have a shop do the work:1000HP half shafts by DSS, solid mount differential plus and upgraded forward mount bolt, weld in kit of plates to reinforce sub frame, solid mount or AKG bushings, 15,16, or 17 inch rear wheels plus cheater slicks or drag radials, special software to raise launch RPM for SMG

  • Too Funny!

  • @iVoodooProductions Sorry to hear that dude. Your loss of traction can be attributed to any number of reasons - from oil on the road, or worn tires, to not understanding car dynamics as a driver. BMWs, particularly the M3s, are known world-wide for their well-balanced chasis and handling capabilities. That's why you see so many of them on any given road course around the world. Glad you didn't kill yourself. :)

  • @usmcspeedy especially the e36. i have one and that car has quite possibly some of the best handling ever for a car. near perfect 50-50 weight distribution. it will go down as a classic soley for its top tier handling haha come on ivoodoo

  • @exhaustedgnomes Great, excellent comment for such a worthy car! They stopped making these in 99 and I would STILL have to take it over an S2000, 968, C5 Vette, stock WRX, EVO....what a classy car that is actually EASY to drive! You like how easy it is to do a U turn in a tight space!?!

  • I thought your video was well put together and good info. All the other clowns that like to be critical ain't shit.

  • u could of just told us about the m3 breaking at the drag strip straight away instead of bragging about ur therapist and making urself look liek a virgin

  • sounds like the *monkees* were prepared

  • That should not have happened, I launched the shit out if my m3 6 years, and put 177,000 miles on before I sold it. Its not that the bmw isnt capable of dragging, its just not engineered for it. I think thats why stock for stock quite a few cars match its acceleration, but on the turns it was a completely different car.

  • Great job on your video!

My departed friend, Brad drove a truck for Nabisco. He would have enjoyed (and probably sang along) the "Cookie Song". We referred to Brad as the "Cookie Man:".

    Thanks for serving us, sir!

  • Hey I just wanted to say I love your video

Seriously it's not annoying at all like other stupid people... Anyways my brother used to own an M3 2004 and that never happened but now that I know I have a 1997 SVT cobra with a supercharged 2008 Shelby cobra motor putting 540 hp like you said built for drag racing or street... Now I'll take your advise to pick on M3s :) (muahaaaaaahh!!!!)

  • @purefhate go on a real mans race track and try your luck against a stock M3 .

  • cost to drag race ur bmw $1310 cost of hearing you cus ur own stupidty priceless yes bmws aint for drag racing if ya dont have at less 500 horses under the hood stay off the track lol

  • Honestly, this is a classic case of a manufacturer using underrated parts on it's cars.

Axles should never break, not even on a launch with slicks, under stock horsepower.

  • Same thing about my car, the WRX.

    LOL @ ON STAR!!!

  • They are drum brakes, just inboard the disc for handbrake use...

  • Dear Sir,

if i ever get the chance to own a BMW M3 - i will remember this lesson! Also great choice of music !!! Love Blues Traveller .... Semper Fi

  • LOL nice video

  • 9mins of my life i will never get back......

  • @sablemase You should be working and not playing around on Youtube

  • @sablemase My work is from 8am till 1 in the classroom. ;)

  • @sablemase AHAA HAA HAAA..... I just managed to waste another 2 minutes of your life - LOL

  • @usmcspeedy **sigh** :(

  • @usmcspeedy u r brilliant, brilliant vid

  • As someone who has raced the better part of 4 seasons at several different drag strips, I beg to differ with your appraisal of the situation sir. Is the M3 (or any sports car with IRS and hard shocks) made for drag racing? Not by design. Does your bad experience of breaking your car mean that M3 and/or BMW drivers in general just shouldn't take their cars to the drag strip? Absolutely not. I have a friend who drag raced an E46 M3 for 2 whole seasons and never broke a thing.

  • Road racing probably put excessive loads on both sides of the half shaft splines, especially while downshifting into a corner. Drag racing probably just finished it off. BMW launch control revs higher than 3500 rpm. The splines shouldn't have a problem taking that abuse.

And BMW's do have alot of horsepower and torque, it's just not in the right rpm range to be better for drag racing than road racing.

  • nice vid man!!! :D love it!!

  • Great video!! can you tell my what the song is called at 5:23? :-)

    //Thanks

  • @1BmwM3Power1 Hook by Blues Traveler

  • @usmcspeedy Thank you!! :-)

  • i love BMW's but even if its not a drag car shouldn't it still be able to be? are you saying the rear ends suck so bad that if you drop the clutch at high revs it will break? because i do that all the time lol....

  • Great vid!

  • hilarious! picking up on the sarcasm... love it

  • Well, its nice see a Bavarian with a little humility when it comes to the strip! As a 500whp Mustang owner (and former 420whp NSX owner I might add), there is a big difference between road racing and drag racing set ups. You found out the hard way. Good luck with future endeavours and Semper Fi (yea, saw the plate...I'm in Jville NC as we speak).

  • my friend takes his 335i to the track. when he launches, its at about 1500 rpms...

i liked your video, because you are right. but BMWs are made for a road race. not a drag race. your 100% right. but you can still take them there... he runs 12s all day!

his launch is somewhat slow, now show. no burnouts. nothing. but it gets up there.

you can take BMWs there... just saying.

all cars break on the strip. ive had 4 different friends in different muscle cars break an axle at a drag strip.

  • Mother! *BEEEEP* PIECE OF *BEEEEEP* PIECE OF MONKEY *BEEEEEP*

  • Nice vid- did you give Chris a few bucks for helping out with the repairs? I definitely would of if I had a friend that would come to my house and help me out like that, just for there time.

Looking for a 2008 M3 or a 2009 335 and stumbled on this vid. Really cool. Take care. I also agree on drag racing..when I was in my mid 20s it was cool..now in my mid 30s, ehhh like you said- Monkey stomping on gas petal and pointing in straight line..lol..

  • man u made me laugh srry about ur car though :( i wanted 2 choose between m3 and a c63 after watching this vedio am glad i picked the c63 ^_*

hope u visit my channel man

  • lol at your reaction. sorry about that beautiful car

  • What about SMG cars? Including the M5.

  • I heard wheel hop before the shaft let go too, that will tear up any car, made for drag racing or not. But I think you may have just gotten unlucky, I see quite a few bimmers at the strip not having any problems running a lot more torque than the m3.

  • wow! thats a very interesting and yet very funny show . do you anything about vanos probs with m3? i have an 03 smg and ses light was on. had it diagnose and says its the s54 vanos retard valve.. tsk tsk! parts,, $2500.. if u kno some stuff about vanos.. pls make a vid about it.. glad to see ur very creative funny humor stories. tnx.

  • @swtazpnoy The S54 is notorious for having vanos issues, especially as you approach 75K miles. My M3 sees a lot of road course time, and I have replaced the vanos twice. Check out DrVanos (com), that's where I got a rebuilt vanos. I think it was $300. Labor will still run you between $600 and $1,000. I should have made a video about that, but at the time I just wanted the car fixed and ready to go racing. Happy racing :)

  • I went to the dragstrip in eastern Canada yesterday, saw two e46 M3s racing.

    Nothing happened to either one.

This video scares a lot of people, and shouldn't mean to. It's not like if you bring your BMW it WILL break on the track, usmcspeedy just got unlucky. Sorry to hear about it, how much are you selling the M for anyway?

  • bmw cars suck ass god bless america

  • @MrJustinhater Lol, just because of this comment i'll make sure not to buy american made.

  • Damn. 6 speed MT with Competition Package. You've got a pretty sought after car, my friend. If only it had red interior...

  • @McJerkins Want to buy it? It's for sale (new rear axle shaft, haa haa haa). No really, it's for sale.

  • @usmcspeedy I love the MF'er , POS at 02:50

  • @usmcspeedy How much? How many miles?

  • @GriffinHelpers PMed

  • @usmcspeedy lol I'm only 17, or else I MIGHT be interested. I've got a 5mt Dinan S 325ci with UUC TSE3 exhaust. I'm happy enough with this. hah thanks though

  • I love this video...Haha!

  • Outstanding video sir.

I have an M-3 and will now never drag race it. lol

  • Omg I felt sick hearing that rear end go lol. Great vid :)

  • Damn that sucks:( wouldn't have done that on the street. VHB is a axle killer!!

  • ah m8 i feel for ya

  • and btw, my launches were all done at around 2500 rpm drop-clutch with traction control off (of course) and sport mode on...
