I Love this video! I do know that Jesus lives and He is standing on the right hand of God the Father. I know that they are separate beings, but united in every way (or else why would there be so many accounts of people seeing Christ even before He came to earth standing on the right hand?) I am grateful for the Joy that is brought to my life because of all that I know. I am most grateful for a merciful God who loves me even when I am not successful in His endeavors. I have to take issue with what is said in the information portion attached to this video. It is impossible for Joseph Smith to have seen God the Father. The Bible makes that clear in 1 Timothy 6:16, John 6:46, etc.
One main contributor to Joseph Smith's confusion as a 14-year-old boy was that the preachers "understood the same passages of scripture so differently as to destroy all confidence in settling the question by an appeal to the Bible" (see Joseph Smith - History 1:12). He read James 1:5 (from the Bible) which instructed him to ask of God, which he did. God answered Joseph Smith's prayer, he can answer yours as well.
Praying for wisdom (as commanded in James 1:5) isn't the same thing as getting a burning bosom about the BOM. A wicked generation seeks after a sign (Matt 16:4).
Why do you believe James 1:5 is true, since you dismiss the clear teaching of the rest of the Bible?

Joseph Smith never once said that Heavenly Father and Jesus are the same. In fact, he taught opposite. They are two different people. Christ is one of his countless children, our brother.

So, either Smith dropped dead (didn't happen), D&C 84 is wrong (making it false scripture), Smith saw nothing in the woods in 1820...
Actually, the phrase "no man can see the face of God...and live" may sound contradictory but there's a different interpretation. I don't need to discuss that though.

I'll reply to both posts...Our disagreements on Christ go far beyond differing perspectives. This is getting into the true Christ vs. false Christs. The LDS church teaches doctrine about Jesus that's completely foreign and contradictory to Scripture, like I posted before. On surface level, "Jesus is the Savior and the Christ" sounds Christian, but examining deeper, that's not the case. Back on previous point, what do the "prophets" say about seeing the face of God?

No offense taken. Never was. If there was anyone in the LDS I would have any offense to, it's Joseph Smith. Alot of people liked him; alot hated him. The problem that I have with him is the doctrine he taught and his behavior which comes across as narcissistic. His doctrine and false prophecies are plenty for me to disregard Smith as a prophet. I'm not demonizing a prophet. I'm "demonizing" (as you put it) a man who has deceived many. Joseph Smith is not regarded as a prophet because of his false prophecies. The fact that he even got ONE wrong diqualifies him. Even if he got every one of them right, the fact that his teachings contradict what God has already revealed in the Bible disqualifies him. So, no, I'm not tearing down a prophet in any way.
There is a difference between an argument and a debate. My intentions are to expose the lies with the truth...posing facts to try to get those who adhere to Mormonism to think for themselves. There's a problem with the 2 Nephi verse. How could they talk of or rejoice in Christ in 559-545 B.C.? Christ had not even appeared on Earth at that time. One of many reasons why I cannot put my faith in the Book of Mormon. Can the LDS church honestly say that the "gospel" preached in it is the exact same gospel Paul preached? The Bible says no.
As far as we know, the only scriptures to be had by those Jews was the Old Testament. According to Christ--who is the way, the truth, and the light--the Old Testament testifies of him.

The nature of God is a very confusing thing for people to understand. We teach that God the Father is a perfect being, with a body that cannot die. Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Son of Mary. Thus he could die for us and be resurrected. This isn't polytheism. We worship one God, the Father. Jesus is Our Advocate with the Father. It's a hard concept to understand.

I have to take issue with what is said in the information portion attached to this video. It is impossible for Joseph Smith to have seen God the Father. The Bible makes that clear in 1 Timothy 6:16, John 6:46, etc.

One main contributor to Joseph Smith's confusion as a 14-year-old boy was that the preachers "understood the same passages of scripture so differently as to destroy all confidence in settling the question by an appeal to the Bible" (see Joseph Smith - History 1:12). He read James 1:5 (from the Bible) which instructed him to ask of God, which he did. God answered Joseph Smith's prayer, he can answer yours as well.

Then surely you understand why I must continue to warn Mormons that the Bible makes it clear that Joseph Smith never saw the Father. That leaves 2 possibilities:
1. Smith either lied and didn't see anythng or anyone or...
2. He saw a different being altogether (probably Satan) and was deceived.

Joseph Smith never once said that Heavenly Father and Jesus are the same. In fact, he taught opposite. They are two different people. Christ is one of his countless children, our brother.
Now, Faith is the evidence of things not seen or heard.

But therein lies the problem...if he really was visited by the Father and the Son, then he should remember the encounter very well. But I can tell you Smith didn't see the Father and the Son. D&C 84:22 states that "without this [priesthood authority] no man can see the face of God, even the Father and live". Smith didn't hold the priesthood until MUCH later. So, either Smith dropped dead (didn't happen), D&C 84 is wrong (making it false scripture), Smith saw nothing in the woods in 1820...

I'll reply to both posts...Our disagreements on Christ go far beyond differing perspectives. This is getting into the true Christ vs. false Christs. The LDS church teaches doctrine about Jesus that's completely foreign and contradictory to Scripture, like I posted before. On surface level, "Jesus is the Savior and the Christ" sounds Christian, but examining deeper, that's not the case. Back on previous point, what do the "prophets" say about seeing the face of God?

No offense taken. Never was. If there was anyone in the LDS I would have any offense to, it's Joseph Smith. Alot of people liked him; alot hated him. The problem that I have with him is the doctrine he taught and his behavior which comes across as narcissistic. His doctrine and false prophecies are plenty for me to disregard Smith as a prophet. As for wilfordwoodruff (YouTube post), I will say he's right. Smith does deserve his rightful place in eternity...and that makes me grieve.

I try to be on good terms with LDS...you're one of the more diplomatic LDS I've encountered, which is a breath of fresh air. Some I've encountered are not. My problem has never been with the people of the church, but the doctrine taught within it.

I'm not demonizing a prophet. I'm "demonizing" (as you put it) a man who has deceived many. Joseph Smith is not regarded as a prophet because of his false prophecies. The fact that he even got ONE wrong diqualifies him. Even if he got every one of them right, the fact that his teachings contradict what God has already revealed in the Bible disqualifies him. So, no, I'm not tearing down a prophet in any way.

There's a problem with the 2 Nephi verse. How could they talk of or rejoice in Christ in 559-545 B.C.? Christ had not even appeared on Earth at that time. One of many reasons why I cannot put my faith in the Book of Mormon. Can the LDS church honestly say that the "gospel" preached in it is the exact same gospel Paul preached? The Bible says no.

We don't believe in the SAME Christ. True, Jesus read from O.T. scriptures because the N.T. hadn't even been written yet.
The Christ of the Bible is not the spirit brother of Satan. He is not the product of God and Mary having sex. He did not have multiple wives (3, I think)...and the list goes on.
He is Creator of all things (Satan included), he was begotten by the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit (even the BoM says this...Alma 7:10). His bride is the church...and the list goes on.

The nature of God is a very confusing thing for people to understand. We teach that God the Father is a perfect being, with a body that cannot die. Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Son of Mary. Thus he could die for us and be resurrected. This isn't polytheism. We worship one God, the Father. Jesus is Our Advocate with the Father. It's a hard concept to understand.

Not 2 different Gods just 2 different beings. Instead of believing (like most christian faiths) that God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost (or Holy Spirit) are one being, we believe they are 3 different beings.
God, is the lord of all creation. Jesus is his son and the one that made the creation happen in his name.
There is proof of them being 2 different beings in the Bible. For example God sending Jesus the image of a dove when he was baptized.

Joseph Smith taught the Gohead is 3 separate Gods, so what you're saying is not the same as what JS taught.
btw, Mormon doctrine contradicts itself here and on other topics, as well.

Maybe what I'm saying isn't exactly the same as what Joseph Smith taught, or maybe you've interpreted what I've said in the wrong way or maybe I've just not explained what I mean fully.
The first article of Faith says - We believe in God the eternal Father and in HIS SON Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost.
If you believe in something different then you are well within your right to believe it, I was just trying to explain what the LDS believe to the best of my ability.

It is completely CLEAR in scripture that Jesus is God. Now from this, you must come to the conclusion, that Jesus was telling the truth. Or that He was a liar.
If you believe He is a liar, then you are of the ones whom DO NOT BELIEVE..
If you do believe that Jesus was not lying, then you must believe in scripture which also declares that there is only ONE God. God is one, three persons, ONE God. This is the Christian God, the God of the bible, ALL others are made up. Scripture alone!

Not one in purpose!! Jesus clearly states that He is God!! In MANY places, you just REFUSE to see the truth!! Read Revelation 1 where John looks to see who is talking to him, CLEARLY it is Jesus, but the attributes are ONLY given to God. Jesus CLEARLY claims to be the "I AM" THIS IS NOT "same in purpose" this is TRUTH!! Jesus is God, and there is only ONE God! you just refuse to bow down to the TRUTH, which IS Jesus! You can try and see it this way, Jesus is our God, He is, He is the God of this Earth. His Father, Heavenly Father is the of all! But because Jesus is an Heir to God, it makes Him in a way God of all. All we are claiming is that they are separate beings, but that is it with the God head.

Why don't you believe what God says? He says there's one God and one God only. He says there are none formed before him and none after.
Yet, Joseph Smith taught you can become a God and that the Godhead is 3 Gods. Who will you believe?
Back in the garden of eden, satan told Eve they could be as God and know everything. That is the same trick satan is using today with Mormons thinking they can become Gods.

I have a hard time understanding how you could believe the mormon doctrine all together.. but lets just take this doctrine that you are speaking of now.
God's word, from the begining, clearly states, that there is ONLY ONE God. God was very clear on this, in fact, He emphasized this MANY times in the old testiment alone, and all throughout the new as well. ONE God! Jesus Christ claims to be God, as does the Holy Spirit. If someone does happen to predict a future event, this is still not proof positive of a true prophet: Deuteronomy 13:1-5. a prophet must be correct on 100% of their prophecy!!

A prophet has to know who God is.
Joseph Smith said the Godhead is 3 separate Gods, but God says He's only One God.
Also, Brigham Young taught Adam was God, but the Bible says no way. And, McConkie said Young's doctrine was false in a 9 page letter to LDS.
There's a lot more, but that's a start.
