I think it is appropriate to call the mustang "America's misfits." They're a part of our culture that is swiftly being run out of their place in our country.
If you look at these herds, you'll see the true embodiment of freedom and rugged individualism. Unfortunately today, people tend to see that in a cell phone ring tone or an advertisement for a sport utility vehicle.
Americas wild horses. Their origin, their essentialness to the their ecosystem, their actual numbers, and most of all, their future!Even Nita Demayo has been falsely lead into believing that the study and use of Immuno-contraceptives such as,PZP(Porcine Zona Pellucida) are necessary in order to assure the future viability of this diverse, resilient species. Studies should be done on how to prove wild horses are native to this land and always were.
It is a wonderful thing that Nita Demayo has done with the Return to Freedom Sanctuary,BUT the plight of the wild horse is a lot deeper than adopting wild horses in holding areas of the Bureau of Land management and sending them to Miss Demayo's Sanctuary.Return to Freedom has invested countless hours towards wild horse management. However,in my personal opinion, wild horses do not need to be managed any longer.
What wild horses need is to be left alone and protected from round ups and exploitation by the US government's BLM.
It is my sworn testimony that I will personally prove that wild horses were native to the United States at the time of the Spanish Horses arrival.Yes,Americas wild horses were already here and thriving.
In doing so,wild horses will finally, without question be considered and categorized as a native species to the continental US.Then and only then will they receive the protection that they so deserve.
I own this dvd, and I cry every time i watch it, it's beauiful but sad at the same time...

What RTF is doing is so fantastic, saving many herd groups from being separated during roundups.
I've been a member since 2002, and will continue to support RTF.

I'm a proud member of Return to Freedom. I even sponsored one of the horses, a young horse named Four Socks.

As am I, as a matter of fact I was just up there this past weekend. I sponsor a horse named Scout.
What they are doing at RTF is very important, and the place itself is relaxing. Something I always notice is how quiet it is up there.
