  • Its funny how people like Shad, Tech N9ne, and Agustus thElefant get no recognition in the mainstream world yet they are some of the best rappers out there #SMH

  • this is her best song i heard of hers so far

  • anybody dissin' shad on this needs to give up on music altogether because they obviously do not recognize talent when they hear it............

  • Lights is a lyrical genius. She's different and that's obviously a good thing. I've been listening to her music for almost a year now, of course she's changed. If her music was the same old thing over and over again, that'd be boring.

I honestly love this song just as much as her other songs. Just saying.

  • I don't think this is that different from her old stuff. It's just as different as My Boots or even the Re:Boots. I saw this coming from a mile away, and if you ever listen to LIGHTS talk about music, you would know that she wasn't going to make the same album, and she even said that some of the songs on the record are girly and pop-py just like the listening.

  • luv it!

  • You all are living in a bubble if you thought Lights was going to sound the same on every album. The Listening was one aspect or chapter of Lights, now it's time to experience another. The song is AMAZING! Point, blank, period.

  • The distortion is so bad it made me laugh.

  • @summerwasabummer sorry i'm not a lights fanboy, I like her music and indifferent to her as a person, I don't even know her! so I cant ask for her old style again which i very much enjoyed? who buys something just because someone they like, made it -_-

  • @BuuRaIan

I suppose you're right. I just think that a lot of artists experiment with their style, and I hate to see good artists like Lights lose fans because of it. And the sad thing is, lots of people would buy something just because someone they like uses it, made it, or promoted it! I'm glad to see you're not a follower! :)

  • Just think guys, sooner or later there will be an acoustic version, knowing Lights. <3 Love the song.

  • This song is actually growing on me I kinda like it now.

  • Guys, she is a artist. She will want to experiment with her sound. So don't say things like "go back to your original style"

  • I don't think I'm ever able to be disappointed or hate her songs. they are all so amazing. The refferrence to cocaine makes the meaning stronger -3

  • why lights why! go back to your older style

  • @BuuRaIan

Oh please. Be a fan, and support her in whatever she does.

  • I love it. xx

  • I Wish there was a LOVE Button. <3 Lights.

  • (: she's just another example on how a person can still make amazing music, after an already amazing album. -3 yay lights :D

  • the cocaine reference adds to the meaning of the song. everybody makes mistakes, some choose to get back up while the others choose to give up.

  • Not bad Perry, not bad.

  • @Aurapyre perry ? her name is lights...

  • @ValerieGrace17 The person who linked me this song goes by Perry.

  • @Aurapyre ok then

  • @TheAtlanticSailor lmfao nice

  • I really like it, but have trouble making out what she's saying in the verses over the beat in the background. Is it just me? It's probably just me...lolz. And yeah, where's the cocaine reference? Can anyone quote it for me please? Thanks.

  • @FinksEntourage 3:12 "It's why we overdose on cocaine / Get our brains comatose, there's no blame"

  • Sick song

  • shad's not promoting cocaine use or anything close to that so why does anyone care? its not even lights saying that part so everyone just settle down

  • Wait Shad as in Shad from toronto?

  • @RelytYDG London, Ontario

  • omg i just saw this video yesterday and it only had 304 views and now it has over 2,000 views , i love it !!! lights FTW

  • @WoeIsRyan it is just a reference though, they're not condoning it..

  • @SomewhatSaints that is exactly what im saying, in now way is it condoning cocaine use.. its just a metaphor of how depressed people use cocaine really

  • were is this cocaine reference everybody is talking about???

  • I really like this

  • so I've heard many versions of this song...just one thing. I love Lights!! What's wrong with the bass though? Does anyone notice that its a little static-y?

  • @vampynguyen It sounds like it was done like that on purpose to me

  • @FinksEntourage I know that. I'm just wondering why though.

  • If you were real LIGHTS fans, you wouldn't care what she releases, as long as she is the one releasing it.

    Lights<3

  • @Rabeehanna555 Unless it was bad music. Then, you probably should care.

  • @Rabeehanna555 I would care if it sucked (don't think that's possible lol just saying). Like, if she released something and it wasn't good, I would be disappointed and surprised. And I would care.

  • Guys Lights is just expanding what she wants to talk about in a song, they can't all be like my boots :/.

  • The chorus is orgasmic, so I'm a little disappointed that the rest of the song wasn't like that, but it was nice. The 8-bit dubsteppy-ness, really nice. And LIGHTS is really showing how good of an artist she is - She's taking risks. This album will NOT be a 'The Listening Pt. 2' Also, cocaine reference was almost harmless. I mean, it's rap and it rhymed. I didn't mind.

  • This doesn't sound like Lights' music =/

  • This is amazing...i love where your songwriting maturity is headed... :) i agree...it's not that i dislike the cocaine reference...it's just you wouldnt expect that from Lights...but it's all good ...it sounds amazing...can't wait till her album OMG

  • i really don't like the static sounding noise to it.

  • @AlexisAz623 It's drums and bass, and it somewhat gave that effect, but I think it had a little to do with the uploading, too. I don't like it either, aha. But it's different.

  • I don't care I loved it (: -3

  • WHUUUUT??? dubstep?? I think its kinda cool!!

  • i think shes trying to "prove" that shes not kids music like some people seem to think.

  • where the cocaine reference i dont hear it please put a number on it

    thank you

  • The weird thing about this song is that I love everyone on it so much, I adore Lights, Holy Fuck is rad, and Shad is absolutely brilliant, but it just didn't come together quite right

  • Actually I liked the rappy part as well as the usual Lights style.

  • is this actually on itunes yet?

  • i like this, and i even kind of like the rap, which is rare for me, but the cocaine reference. is it really necessary? i'm just saying, it could narrow the amount of people who would like this a little bit.

  • This is amazing....Unlike anything she's ever done!!! It's so unique! I love it!!! <3

  • Dunno what to think about this song, but its obvious her music style has matured since The Listening. I don't mind the Shad K but id rather hear Lights voice in her songs. As for the bass i think its a bit too much yet when i listened to it with better quality headphones it sounds pretty damn good. So overall, yeah, i like it =D

  • I don't care if there's rapping or not. Lights is amazing no matter what, and even if this is a little different, I love it, simply because it's Lights, and she is absolutely my idol. So stop complaining about it guys, because all this means is she's growing as an artist, and I'm going to stick with her no matter where that takes her. ♥♥♥

  • Everybody shut the fuck up. Let Shad do his thing.

  • Lights listens to other rappers too like Aesop Rock, Sage Francis, k-os, and of course, Shad, so I'm just frickin amazed she made this collaboration happen. And with Holy Fuck too? Even crazier!

  • I loved the song, but I feel the rapping part was totally off, and it didn't fit with the rest of the song, like the sound and all, feels like she went all Rebecca Black and just went "ok 3 quarters through insert generic rapper here" Not saying he was a bad rapper, I'm just saying this wasn't that type of song. BTW I'm a HUGE Lights fan, so I'm not hating. I got her to autograph my "The Listening"! I'm getting the new album and getting it graphed too! hopefully.

  • @kemando12 in case you didn't know, there were rap breaks 3 quarters through a song waaay before Rebecca Black came along

  • @maxeenimuss I'm aware of this, but I'm saying for the most part the rap parts in those songs didn't seem out of place, where as rebecca black, she's singin about friday them BOOM out of nowhere there's rap, and that's how this kind of felt.

  • This song is all over AWESOME. I think Shad did fine ! But jeez what an amazing song !

  • I think its a good song lyrically plus its catchy. but wtf is up with the distorted bass and rap.....

  • Umm Shad, that's your name isn't it? Well you are taking up LIGHTS' singing time. Please stop.

  • Okie I love LIGHTS...like more then anything...but what..in the fuck...was that...

Im one of her biggest fans...and this is just not good... =/ </3

  • I listen to lights to get away from rap ;P

  • Wow the rap sucks...

  • Love the dubstep

    The rap = meh.

  • @RularuuDuskwalker I agree completely I already hate rap enough as it is now its bleeding into her music but besides that i really like it

  • Everyone's the fool they seek

  • 300 of those views are mine :)

    Lights -3

  • I think the song is amazing! She's and artist, and change is good. I think we're all just used to the light/synth-poppy Lights. The only thing that got me with this song was the cocaine reference at th :) end :$ But other than that, I think her new work is a new step in her music.

  • ...what's this cocaine reference? I don't hear one...

  • I love LIGHTS, but I think she could have gone without the rap. e3e

But I still love her. <3

  • Songs can grow on people right? Personally, I hate the rapping...

  • I agree with Beesinthecity, I love Sam for uploading this!

  • Love.

  • Sam I oive you for uploading this!

  • its different from what she usually does, but shes trying to expand i guess, i like it, i hope not all her new songs are similar to this song though, and can someone explain the cocaine reference to me.

  • Ill get the album, but Im thinking that this song will not be the hit :p hopefully itwill suck compared to the others. I didn't get butterflies in this song, like I did in almost all her other songs, the static is a cool change, but the rap feels to cliche/immature..

  • I don't know how I feel about this song. I kinda like it but I am not sure...and the rap doesn't help at all

  • i love her.

  • who the FUCK is rapping?

  • @lightsftw17 i dont fking know. I disagree with the dubstep and rapping. The dubstep was awful and the rapping just made it worse.

  • @scheirm same brah

  • k, shads annoying and doesnt belong in this video. just doesnt go well with lights style of music. but who cares. i love lights! (:

  • perfection :')!

  • Oh yeah, and please don't give me "she's just trying new sounds, experimenting etc". Noise and static is not a 'new sound' and if someone thought THAT would bring something new and fresh, then they are really suffering from a marble deficiency.

Honestly, they really must have spent a long time trying to think that one up - "What can we do to liven this track up a bit? Yeah, I know, why don't we add the background noise from an untuned 1970s television set? " - UNBELIEVABLE!!

  • @cunninm1874 Take that tampon out of your ass and stop compaining.

  • @GillisMusic lol, *complaining. BUT i agree that he needs to stop comlaining. rofl. i hear the music just fine. i barely hear the static. so do us a favor and STFU and GTFO? k. love you lights! (:

  • @erinwuvsdacey Lol! Damn typos

  • @GillisMusic hahah they always get the best of us! (:

  • @cunninm1874 dude, stfu. stop complaining. KBYE

  • I don't mind the rap, it's the "dirty/static" noise that's doing my head in. It's far too over-powering. If that's the final mix then someone's really dropped the ball.

I like 'Lights' coz I'm a pretty big analog synth freak and she does have some cool sounds and I know that they are there somwhere in this record. You just can't hear them because of of all the fuzz..

  • @cunninm1874 i completely agree with you. everything is really unbalanced. seems like they made this in garage band.

  • thanks for uploading, waiting for "Toes" >.<

  • hmmmmmm .... I will always love Lights but i don't really like this track much. hate to say this is the first Lights song i don't like :(

  • Oh my Gosh! Love, love, love it!

  • Can never get enough lights.... :)

  • This is a sick song I love it!

  • Amazing song and I love the rap part, reminds me of alligator sky (:

  • i think danny fernandez and her would make sing great together

  • @WoeIsRyan Same, I did not like the cocaine refrence at ALL. but in the end, it's an amazing song. And I love LIGHTS. <3

  • @LIGHTSFans2 I'm not sure why anyone would have a problem with the mention of cocaine. This song in no way glorifies it. It's the opposite.

  • @LIGHTSFans2 lmao, the cocaine reference made this song!

but then again i know what doing cocaine feels like, and how it makes sense in the lyrics.

dont knock it till uve tried it

  • just so lightsy!

  • This is new. I like it.

  • soooo goood, omg i need to get this ALBUM. <3

  • Ahhhh Lights never fails!

  • love it! she's just so amazing! I wish I knew her in real life!

  • <3 Can't wait

  • It sounds sooo good. I love LIGHTS. <3

  • I love this. So excited for the new record

  • AMAZING<3 :D

  • shaddup ya'll, SHAD is AWESOME!!!

  • It's not a solid, not a soft thing To pull the wool up like a smoke screen Nobody does it like a prophet It's gone before you know you lost it The worries round you keep your hands tied There's certain things you shouldn't have tried So if you've got it tell me something You better go from the beginning We all forget to sleep We crash at someone's feet Everybody skips a beat We let the chances pass The few we held so fast Everybody breaks a glass
  • i dont get why the main video is blocked on canada, she's fucking canadian.

    assholes UMG.

    FUCKING LOVE THE SONG THOUGHH

  • its good, but ill have to get used to the rap part :P

  • Not sure if the distortion on the drums settle in as perfectly as I wanted them too, but I'm hearing some great, interesting sounds (dubstep/distorted breakdown). We'll see:) Can't wait for the rest of the album! I might try to remix this song in the meantime...

  • @Tyler5Cat if you like hip hop at all, the dude rapping (shad aka shad k) is an AMAZING rapper

he doesn't have any bad albums, infact he has 3 very solid classic albums, infact the only reason i heard this song is because of him

he is truly all around skilled artist, complex rhymes with substance and great production to back it up, i highly recommend you give him a listen
