Make your life easier and legal: Get nexusradio or clipinc: Both make a nice copy of the songs played on the radio, cut it, and saves it to MP3. All legal and with Nexusradio fully automatic (let it run for several days on your favorite radio stations and you got tons of free music).
I support good bands gladly by going to their concerts, but not by paying overpriced album prices. Especially: Some songs I might not listen to very often or even only once!

Well, I agree, if a band changes too much, it obviously is going to lose popularity with old fans. The thing is that an open minded fan (or person) will see that it takes a true master to change your art according to how you change. If an artist doesn't change his music, he makes the same over again, his music is dead. Metallica is alive, and with every disc they create a new unique sound, and for that they are great. People don't have to like it, but it shows how great Metallica is.

I was one of the many booted off napster for downloading Metallica MP3s and thus I took a personal interest in these web tunes. Funny stuff, especially the house boy.

Well, I agree, if a band changes too much, it obviously is going to lose popularity with old fans. The thing is that an open minded fan (or person) will see that it takes a true master to change your art according to how you change. If an artist doesn't change his music, he makes the same over again, his music is dead. Metallica is alive, and with every disc they create a new unique sound, and for that they are great. People don't have to like it, but it shows how great Metallica is.

Funny video from way back in the day. It's at least 10 years old, back when Metallica was fighting Napster in the media and the courtroom. At one point, if I remember correctly, they turned over like 300,000 names to the ISP's asking to shut file sharing down.
Of course nowadays Napster is a legit site, and Metallica is still rich, but they can't stop free music.

If this video was supposed to be funny it failed. A band is a job and it takes a lot of work. Metallica may be rich, but they aren't as rich as you think because they have to pay the record company, art work designers, etc. Then split the remaining money 4 ways. Being in a band you have to sacrifice time from your family to go on tour or go into the studio to produce an album. Besides napster IS stealing, and if someone stole from me I would be pissed

I remember when this originally was released onto the inter-webs. Sometime in the spring of 2000 I believe, right about the time I graduated high-school. I was one of the many booted off napster for downloading Metallica MP3s and thus I took a personal interest in these web tunes. Funny stuff, especially the house boy.

This is a funny video, but it is also very misleading and unfair. First of all, Metallica NEVER sued or threatened to sue their fans. They sued Napster, and petitioned maybe around 250 Napter users to be banned from the site. Never sued the fans. Secondly, this was never about money in the first place - it was about an unfinished song (I Disappear) being leaked onto Napster. Bands make most of their money from touring anyway. Lastly, there were many other bands that backed Metallica, like Tool.

Metallica gets 85% of ticket sales for each concert they play. So when you and 20,000 other people pay $80 dollars to see Metallica play a 2 hour concert at your cities arena, Metallica walks away with $1,360,000 dollars, hops on a jet, and does it in the next city, and the next, and the next. If your going to pay that much money to see them play a live show, pay the $20 and buy their album.
