You know, I would steal a car if it meant that by just touching the car it was mine, and the person who owned the car got to keep one, and every person I knew was stealing cars like that.
I don't think people would complain terribly much if a man came to your car, made an exact replicate of it without touching your car, and drove off in the copy.
They pirated music on the advert. It's a rip-off of "(The best part of) Breakin' Up" by The Chemical Brothers. Assholes. I rather steal a movie than music anyway. I've even visited a police station that has pirate dvds on their lounge TV.
@BringItBackITV "Netherlands composer Melchior Rietveldt composed that ominous techno tune for a local film festival after being asked by anti-piracy group BREIN, who are funded by Hollywood."
@hardXcoreminecraft His tune is very similar to The Chemical Brothers tune. Infact it's pretty much the same. It's just a tale of people ripping off each other. Though if it was a 1996 instrumental (which it isn't) then i'm sure the Chemicals had it first. I'm not saying Melchior ripped off the Chemical Brothers though, as he may of never head "The best part of breaking up".
You know what's the actual piracy here? The music is used without permission in this clip. Court ruled recently that Melchoir Rietveldt (the person who made the music clip) was not asked the permission, nor never gave permission to use his musical score.
reminds me of the usual republican crap about family values etc. and then having their members caught cheating on their wife with prostitutes or some pathetic **** like that.
Oh such delicious hypocrisy from these people, yet a wonderful "it's ok, sometimes you don't realise you're 'stealing' things" message from the fates. Or Jesus. Maybe Jesus is telling us something. God's Will and that.
Piracy isn't stealing. It's like you like some painting, so you paint the same. You can't paint it 100% the same, but neither are DVD/HDRIPs to Bluray discs, lol!
FACT: The song used in this video is being used without permission of the composer! Now THAT is hilarious! The say You wouldn't steal, but they did steal! :)
Just google: " Copyright Corruption Scandal Surrounds Anti-Piracy Campaign "
and also, stealing and piracy are different, with piracy, the thing is still there, so i'd be like if your car got stolen, and it was there in the morning, it hurts no one
@brohaw211 No, the ironic thing is that the song was illegally used. Not kidding, search for it. I wonder how much money the composer is going to make now it's on every freaking dvd on this planet. 50 whole seconds of hypocrisy
Downloading recordings is copying, not stealing. Stealing is when media companies play music on the radio to get us hooked, and advertise films with teaser commercials, then want unfair amounts for us to enjoy it. They used to sell us LPs & tapes just to get one song we liked, and that was the crime. The industry failed to charge a reasonable price for downloading, so I guess that it's payback time. The chickens are coming home to roost.
Is it stealing, then, when a filmmaker produces garbage (insert any Uwe Boll or Eli Roth title here) and still knowingly takes unsuspecting consumers' money for it? Not saying pirating movies is right. Just saying it goes both ways...
You wouldn't shoot a policeman, and then steal his helmet. You wouldn't go to the TOILET in his helmet! And then, send it to the policeman's grieving widow... AND THEN STEAL IT AGAIN!!!
What website is that girl on, with the giant green download button and the even more obvious cancel button that flashes dramatically in red impact font once you click it? Looks pretty cool.
It's not stealing its sharing, for example if your friend had a couple of songs that you really liked so he sent you them over msn, would you call that theft?
When you steal non-intellectual property, the owner doesn't have it anymore. Your logic is wrong, your allegoration is wrong, your metaphors are wrong. Pirated intellectual property is simply copied.
Imagine someone using MAGIC to make a copy of your car or handbag or tv, and walk away with the clone. Make a video of it, now you got it right.
@Sorgutentarer that argument is pure semantics. In the end it does not matter whether a product is physical or non physical: money and effort went into creating that product. when you pirate something you would have otherwise paid for that is money out of the developers pocket.
@Sorgutentarer If a movie was in disc form which costs $1 to manefacture and you stole that would you call taking it stealing because it is now 'physical' which lends enormous weight to its value supposedly. The whole intellectual property debate hinges itself on the economic law of supply and demand which pirates like yourself throw out of balance. It is not about 'copying' in any sense at all.
@Sorgutentarer now I do pirate don't get me wrong. When there is a movie or game I am little more than indifferent about, where I don;t care enough about supporting the developers / business's because that product is not one i care too much about. but you see the difference between you and me is I hold no delusions that what I am doing is right.
@Sorgutentarer unfortunately, while the original still exists, it doesn't change the fact that the producers are not getting the money for their product. people are still getting goods without paying for it on a large scale, and in turn, the production is not receiving the revenues for their product.
so it s only not like literal theft in the most superficial sense.
@Exarian I do believe though that companies claim more lost profits than there actually are. Not everyone that downloads something would have ever paid for it to begin with. Either they're just too damn broke or not interested enough to warrant shelling out cash for it.
If I actually had money I'd pay for more things but since I don't, the things I download don't technically count as lost revenue since I would have never paid to begin with. Even if I couldn't get it for free.
@jorceshaman that doesn't change the fact that someone is recieving goods that were meant to be paid for without paying for it. Regardless of motive or circumstance, there is still an uneven transaction going on, hard work is still being made off with, and laws are still being broken.
if you're gonna pirate, don't try to BS yourself some justification.
@jorceshaman I'm just saying that you;re trying to change the subject away from the fact that you are recieving a product that is supposed to have a cost without paying for it, and how wrong that act is.
I'm not being judgmental about the concept mind you, I've done my fair share of pirating myself. I'm just not about to convince myself there is any justification for it.
@Exarian do you think any of the people who pirate things would magically decide to become paying customers just if they couldnt download it? maybe some of the time, but generally they'd just find something else to do or download something else. pirates and paying customers are entirely different demographics. the paying customers will always pay, and pirates will always pirate. hardly any money is lost. and you arent really stealing something because its just a copy
@Exarian are you stealing when you borrow dvd's and cd's from a friend? no. piracy is wrong when you download and sell it for profit, but borrowing movies online is not a big deal. get over it. im not saying its the right thing to do, but its not the wrong thing to do. its just something to do.
@sansdeity420 well that depends, when you borrow a DVD from a friend, the friend is unable to use the files at the time you have it, and when you give it back, you are unable to use the files.
fuck that, spend heaps of money, and to do what? stop the 8 year old from downloading an episode of the simpsons. haha "its not illeagal its just frowned apon like masterbating on a aeroplane"
This is ridiculous. If you steal a car then you will deprive someone else of that car. If you download a movie on the other hand, who is deprived of the movie?? No one. Millions of dollars spent on fights against piracy and that's the best they can come up with?? A deeply flawed advert......
Data by An Anti-priacy group reveals that over 25% of the people who've been warned of possible Fines due to copyright violations pay up without a word. As many of you might already know the Fines are Excessively high. why? Supposedly it goes to cover tech costs and pay the copyright holder. Well...Consider this. A single DVD can cost 20 bucks. A person can get sued for 600$. Lets say 80% goes to company and 20% to CR holder, that's $480 for AntiPriacy and 120$ for CP holder. 600% profit.
