  • My 2006 Durango is in the shop now getting the fuel tank replaced under the "warranty". Been spewing gas for years now. 1700.00 repair.

  • Dodge has issued an unlimited mileage TSB that should cover my vehicle (see the more information update above in the video). I'm off to my local Dodge dealer to see how it goes...

  • Not one of Dodge's crowning achievements, they new Durango has alot of hope, these old ones are terrible though. Ugly, thirsty, and near pointless.

  • To be honest that's why i buy Nissan's only, ive owned 2 different nissan cars, altima 99 and maxima 10, you keep pumping gas, changing that oil and the occasional tire change and they run like a charm. i can remember the last time i took either one to the shop. my father on the other hand buys american, i can say maybe once every 2 months he's having issues with his vehicles. oh well.

  • @qetuo1000 Seems to be quite hit and miss. Ive only ever owned Ford or Dodge cars and trucks, and ive had a few. The only major issue ive had was a bad auto transmission in my first car, a 93' Shadow. They were known for it tho. Ive own two Shadows, 4 Crown Victorias, 1 Ranger, 1 Bronco II, 2 Dodge Ram's, and an Escort, all had the usual wear items.

  • @qetuo1000 My brothers both own Honda's,one an 02' Civic Si (its needed tie rod ends, cv axles, a transmission) my other brothers got a 00' Civic, its needed everything from a starter, to a timing belt(which is a giant job on those cars, the entire top end of the motor needs to be removed.)Not to mention both cars are already rotting out even after being undercoated since new. Both brothers drive like old ladies, Ive never driven my vehicles easy. So I know what I'll continue to buy.

  • thats gona fuck up ur paint

  • WTH GET A GOT DAMN BUCKET OMG!!! SO MUCH WASTE X.X!

  • Who do I call to report an oil spill or other environmental emergency that poses a sudden threat to public health?

For emergencies and other sudden threats to public health, such as:

    oil and/or chemical spills,

    radiation emergencies, and

    biological discharges,

call the National Response Center at 1-800-424-8802.

  • Hello sir , I have Dodge Caravan 2004 it has 215 thousand Km when i fill it with gas it show me its full when i fill half and ifeel like some thing block in the gas tank . what should I do for that? Idid today flush for the gas system it cost me $185 Dollars . Thank you .

  • That's why they quit making Durangos for two years. Too man problems

  • It's a dodge...

  • @austinman1995

    $43 total cost

    14 gallons -_-

  • then pay attention!

  • Simple solution. Don't fill the tank all the way.

  • OK people, dodge/ Chrysler doesn't give a flying fuck about their retarded vehicles and their problems, once the car keys are in your hand they chalk up another line on the sucker board and shred your warranty information. Buy elsewhere.

  • Mine doesn't have that problem. Thank goodness.

  • I have the same issue with my 2007 Chrysler Aspen Limited AWD....contacted the dealer..checked no recalls and thus no warranty...i have 57k on this vehicle (just bought used)....I have since contacted Chrysler, opened a case, and upon their instruction have taken the vehicle to Chrysler for diagnosis, we'll see what they do...I have also logged a formal complaint with NHTSA. This should be a recall. this is the same issue as experieinced with the Wranglers...and its an obvious continuing issue

  • Yes your right it is a safety concern as this is very scary to have what if someone had ben smoken and you just drive up to get some gas not knowing they droped there smoke bud on the floor and it's still light they stay light for about 5 mins on the floor alone.

  • There is a good thread on Dodge Forums (Search for "Gas fill overflow on my 06 durango" ) that talks about the steps to get some action either from your local dealer, Chrysler corporate, NHTSA.

I have tried my local dealer, NHTSA, and filed with safetyresearch net website. Still have the issue. At this point my wife and I only fill to part of the tank with gas.

  • @dtrebacz This happened with my cousins 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid one time....

  • I have that problem with my 2005. I don't know what to do does anyone have any information on this?

  • I have this same exact problem with my 2005 Durango. However, my dealer is telling me that my car is not part of the recall (RQ08-005) even though it is the exact same problem that my car has. But I never had this problem until Southbay Chrysler put a new transmission in my suv. Anyway, Glenn E. Thomas Chrysler is telling me that since it is not covered it will be $1635.00. I'm still waiting on Chrysler to get back to me on whether they will cover it or not.

  • My 2007 Durango was doing the same thing. I took it in (out of warranty) and they told me $800.00 for a new fuel tank. I checked on line, saw this and called Chrysler. I received a call back that afternoon from Chrysler. He asked if it was fixed and I said "No Way, I can't afford that" They paid everything except $100.00, but that was ok because if I had just picked it up it would have cost me $98.00 for the diagnostics they ran. I will add I have had Chryslers for the past 15 years.

  • Maybe we all should CONSTANTLY email local tv stations for one of those investigative reports to be done on this issue. I hope no one has to be injured or worse before something can be done or is done about this issue.

  • My fiance has a 2007 durango that just started doing this same thing. She just purchased the vehicle used a few months ago and it was fine until now. We had it filled up by a full service station the other day when it was the first time i had witnessed it, and the man pumping was really scared! Hers does not just do it when it is full, but at random times during fill up!! Once it did it at an empty tank with 2.00 on the pump!

  • Our '07 Durango does this frequently at the pump. Dealer said they never heard of of the problem other than me when I mentioned it.. I did file a report with the NHTSA. I see many other reports there for the same problem year (2007) Durango there also. I'm hoping Dodge issues some sort of remedy before someone is injured or killed.

  • I have a 2007 Durango and never had a problem like that

  • Mine too speaking with attorney to have dodge cover my repair costs.

  • You know what would be a good solution? Stopping the pump before the gas tank is completely full.

  • @MUSlC1213 I tired that and gas sprayed on me...I don't recommend it!

  • @MUSlC1213 oops I meant "tried"

  • @whatsupwithmycar1

Move out of the way then. -_-

  • why cant you get down and do something about it.

  • I've got several videos on this, unfortunately Chrysler doesn't seem to care. Good luck with that issue!

  • My 2007 Durango started the same thing this past winter. I called my dealer after seeing your video. I was less than 300 miles before my warranty expired. The dealer said that they ran all of the tests on it and it was okay. My husband told the service manager that he knew that he knew what was going on with these vehicles. Once my husband mentioned the word "safety" concern, we received a new fuel tank free of charge.

  • @Digiclix Glad to hear the video helped. It would be really nice to have Dodge do something more public about this safety issue. I'm still working with Dodge to get them to recognize that the issue is a safety design issue and not a normal part failure for my vehicle.

  • Never ever had that problem...

  • My 2006 Durango has the same issue. I called the dealer and they knew all about the problem. They suggested the $1,000 fix as well. What the hell is Dodge waiting for? Someone will get blown up or burned to death with this problem and they won't take ownership of the issue. What a bunch of crap. I'll never own another Dodge after this.

  • My 2006 Durango does the exact same thing. It really sucks! Funny how the 2005 Durango had a recall for this exact problem, but to Dodge the problem does not exist in the 2006 and up. The "we have no idea what you are talking about" response. ARGH!

  • @mtnbiker1971 how do you know the 2005 had a recall, i have an 05 and this just started happening and its not showing a recall for this

  • I talked to my local dealership this weekend. They said that it was the fuel check valve and the only option is replacement. On the 2007 Dodge Durango that valve is contained in the fuel tank. The cost of the fuel tank for the 2007 Durango is $500, the filler neck is $140, and the labor would be about 1-1/2 hours. About a $700 fix. I'm going to contact the 800 number of Dodge customer service, to see they can help. Power train warranty on my vehicle is supposedly only 3 years or 36,000 miles.

  • I contacted Doge via their website 11 days later -got this response:

"Unfortunately, given the many variables involved, we are unable to

diagnose your vehicle's problem via email. We recommend contacting your

authorized dealership to arrange an appointment for proper diagnosis and

    repair.

Our dealerships have the factory training, equipment and information

available to them to diagnose and correct problems with our vehicles."...

Guess I'll be hitting up the dealer.

  • I have a 2007 Chrysler Aspen that is doing the same thing for a few months now when i fill up my gas tank. I call the Arrigo service department in West Palm Beach to have it check out and find out if it was covered under my extended warranty they told me i would have have to pay $110.00 to let me know if it would be covered under the warranty. I can't believe they don't have this as a recall since it is not safe.

  • my 2008 Jeep wrangle does the same thing, I had a real bad spill a couple days ago

  • Did Dodge fix this for you? My 2007 Durango Limited started doing the same thing once the temperatures got cold around October of 2009 and now does it all the time unless I pump the last couple of gallons slowly while stopping occasionally. This is a design defect in the Durango and they should replace it due to the hazard, but you know auto makers they are going to fight tooth and nail to not have a recall. It will be interesting to see if it still does this when the temps get 70-90 degrees.
