@ FantasticBabblings Thanks for posting this video I had no idea New York had this & I've lived here my whole life..crazy right? Does it cost to get on the tramway?
Very Nice, thanks. I am getting to see some of New York thru your videos. Never been there and probably won't really. It would be really cool if people would upload some vids of their cities and the sights so we see some new places!
A relative of mine died at the neurological hospital on Welfare Island back in 1925. He had actually been there for many years (perhaps quarantined), because when he first got sick and was sent there, it was called Blackwell's Island.
Wow Phil, this was terrific! The first I'd ever heard of the tram was this week and the TV footage did not hold a candle to yours - either in quality of the images or the beauty of the editing. Well done!!
Is this original Phil music? I like the upright bass and clarinet on the away trip, but I really enjoyed the soundscape you painted on the way back. It affectingly changed my mood to something much more serene than the chaotic feelings I normally get while looking at urban imagery. Well done!
@GCNC72 Yes, it is indeed original music. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I like writing soundscapes. If I can find the right visual setting I would like to do a whole video to a soundscape.
@FantasticBabblings If you find your way to the south in the summer months. You should spend a day or two capturing video off of The Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville going north towards Grandfather Mountain. The imagery up there is very good material for soundscapes. I usually find myself taking that ride at least once per year.
@LeSaMilano As I get healthier and get my energy back I am getting out more and shooting a lot. For the last few years it seems I only see the city through a camera lens.
@RDJim If only I could edit out the children and not just their sounds. That's the burden of being a working man. If I were a man of leisure I could have shot this on a week day and the tram would be practically empty.
@fehquig I had never heard of it until I moved to NY. It's just a small sliver of land. The southern tip has the ruins of an old insane asylum, but it is being torn down for development.
That was a great wee film. Nice edits. I never knew the tramway existed. Looks like fun. If you ever need some custom made music for your films please let me know.
@freitasex Surprisingly it came together pretty quickly. I storyboarded it in my head so I was able to shoot it in about three hours. I had already pretty much edited it in my head, so that went pretty quickly. The music probably took the longest time. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I so enjoyed this visit to your corner of the world. Is the tramway only in Manhattan, or does it go to other burroughs?

Nice editing job. My only suggestion would have been to edit out the annoying children sounds.... but that's just me.

This beautiful film must have taken quite a while to produce.
It makes me want to visit, while thoughts of moving there dance in my head.

Well Phil, 3 hours is quite a while.
I am sure that you do not remember, but probably 3 years ago I told you something.
You remind me so very much of my best friend ever.
He is not with us anymore as he passed with acquired immune syndrome complications.
This is (to me) a compliment to you.
He was so eloquent in his speech, telling a person off, but then leaving them impressed.
He taught me so much... I just so highly admire you Phil.
You just have the eloquent touch.
